I hired Lisa to illustrate a children's manuscript I wrote and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. From the moment I first started communicating with Lisa I was immediately impressed and knew that my book was going to be in good hands. She utilized her amazing personality, years of expertise and gift of creativity to make my manuscript into a book that children will be able to relate to and value for many years. I can't possibly recommend Lisa's talents and skills highly enough and would give my 5 star recommendation to anyone that could benefit from her services.
Julie Garisto, as Arts Editor for Creative Loafing in Tampa Bay, FL, has done an incredible job at turning the rambling musings of my artist statements and press releases into event listings and articles that generate both excitement for and insight into my work. Further, her guidance at Creative Loafing leaves a reader with the impression that Tampa Bay is a vital cultural hub. Julie Garisto, both as a person and because of her writing and editing skills, is an indispensible member of the Tampa Bay community.
I spent hours with my grandmother compiling her heritage recipes from the 1960's and what she remembered of her mother's recipes from the 1940's. I wanted to preserve my family's food traditions for my own children. The recipes we were selecting reminded Nonna of stories from her teenage years which she told me in detail as we poured through ingredients. When our project was complete I realized that I had more than recipes, I had an oral history of our family and the makings of a book. I hired Merry to give my book a professional look. I was amazed at the layout she produced for me. The book looks as beautiful as anything you'd find in the cooking section at Barnes and Noble. Merry trimmed my "wordy" manuscript into a work that was wonderfully concise and descriptive. She combined the stories and recipes in a flow that was beyond anything I would have thought of. When it was done my family and the community loved it. Nonna was even asked to do a segment on our local morning TV. I was hoping the experience of working with an editor wouldn't make me feel like I was in sixth grade again getting graded on my mistakes. It wasn't like that at all. Merry made me feel proud of my effort to accomplish a manuscript. She said everyone says they have a book to write but few sit down to do it. Merry definitely knows how to dot her i's and cross her t's among her many other editorial tricks. Thanks to Merry I did it! I published my book!
My name is Preston Copeland. Russil Tamsen has done a wonderful job at editing my middle grade novel "Saleena Sanchez & The Cursed Crown" and my short story "The Dock The Witch & The Schmuck." Russil is wonderful at helping the author to understand and develop their vision, while simultaneously helping to ensure that syntax is set precisely at a professional level. Russil is easy to work with, but firm in his edits, which from my experience have helped to elevate my fiction to another level. Even though he's not really a good tennis player, I never hold that against him. Instead, what he lacks in athletic ability, he makes up being a wonderful person and editor.
To all potential Thumbtack clients of Patricia Riesenkampff, Patricia has worked together with me throughout the last years on several occasions offering her high skills of translations and proof reading as well as editing regarding my museum manuscripts. These papers had to be written and submitted in English and Patricia's ability to clearly understand the anthropological/cultural content matter in German was most helpful. She also kept all the deadlines. Patricia also helped me with my presentation skills while reading these English papers aloud. Her corrections regarding my pronunciation and clarity of word meaning was also most helpful. I highly recommend Patricia's services and wish her all the best with her new life in America.

Sharon Tubbs of Move Forward Communications is the editor of a second book I am publishing. She has proven to be an outstanding editor who is a great communicator, proficient in writing, thorough in her review of my material, and timely in her responses to my questions. When she gives you a date and time to finish her editing, she does not miss that deadline! I have other books to write, and I definitely plan to use Move Forward Communications to edit for me in the future. Sharon has gone far above and beyond my expectations.
Mandy's turnaround time is phenomenal! She is accurate and so pleasant to work with - I highly recommend her as an editor.
Ellen Haas has edited two of my novels. The novels were Unholy Pursuit, 99,545 words, and Ouroboros: Terror in Thibodaux, 76,870 words. I have nothing but the utmost admiration for her expertise. She is meticulous, with an uncanny eye for rearranging sentences so they will give the reader more awareness of what the author wants to convey. Her knowledge of grammar is second to none, and she is a pit bull when it comes to punctuation. She never allows a comma to thrive in a sentence when a period or a semi-colon would work better. I gladly, and wholeheartedly, recommend Ellen Haas to anyone who is in need of an editor for their books. Sincerely, Jerry Pat Bolton
I have worked with Erik on several film and video projects. Erik is very passionate about the work he does. He is a perfectionist when it comes to the writing on a project and will work to ensure a script is as tight as possible. As a director he runs a very efficient set and works well with actors to get their performances down pat. As an editor, Erik can produce a cut of a film very quickly and then work collaboratively with the production team to produce a quality finished product.
Mike did an excellent editing job! He polished up a 300 page, 75,000 word yarn into an actual novel. He'll be on top of my list of editors that I plan to work with on future projects.
I do much more than read once through a manuscript: I refine your work with several readings, until it is not only error free, but clear, concise, with a good flow and pace, so your reader will keep turning the pages. I use Track Changes in Word, so you can see the editing I've done and can decide to accept or reject each edit individually. You can make changes in the edited manuscript, highlight them, and send the manuscript back to me for a final review of the changes. Many editing services will not do this.
