I have been taking lessons with Dutch since 2011 focusing on Argentine Tango and Bolero. I started dance lessons in 2007 in Chicago and continue with Dutch while in Florida. Unquestionably, Dutch has a fantastic background and a wealth of real experience as a true professional, he demonstrates smooth steps, and equally important, with encouragement and patience, he helps you learn to feel, and not think the moves as a dancer.

I have learned more with her in 8 classes than I would have in over a year of group dancing lessons. I highly recommend her!

Hiring Olivia was by far the BEST decision we ever made regarding our wedding! We had no idea what to expect prior to our first lesson, and never had formal dance lessons before, but Olivia made this an unforgettable experience. Her training techniques are perfect for any dancer, experienced or beginner, and she choreographed our dance perfectly. Our first dance was absolutely beautiful and we could not have asked for a more perfect instructor... and we even gained a new friend. If you don't hire Olivia, you will be missing out.

I highly recommend Donna for anyone wanting to improve his or her artistry. You really can’t match the years of experience she brings as a professional performer. I met 3 other vocal teachers before seeing Donna, and I knew after our first session together that she is the perfect artist for me to work with. In our first meeting, I told her I sometimes get light-headed, have a small vocal range, and don’t like my tone; all I really want to do is sing well. In just six weeks she’s helped me work on breathing right (so I don’t get light-headed), showed me that I can get my pitch to places I never even imagined I could reach, and given me several pointers to work on improving tone. At the same time, she’s observant enough to know when I’m at a barrier (when I don’t even realize I’m at a barrier!) and has helped me break through it in a fun way. I’m an adult beginner looking forward to continuing my singing journey with Donna!

The first thing that comes to my mind, when I look back at all my lessons with Tate (both in class and in privates), is fun!! She always makes sure that a dance lesson is a joyful experience like it ought to be and I never left her class without a smile on my face :) At the same time, she never skimps on effort/technique. Even in a classroom full of beginners, she would always move gracefully during demonstrations instead of just doing a walk through. She is one of the few instructors who taught me how to move/dance rather than just a series of steps. For anyone, who is reading this review to decide if they want to take dance lessons from Tate, I have to say you are in for a real treat. If you are looking to learn how to actually dance, while having lots of fun, you are looking at the right instructor!!

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios. If you choose a small-group class, expect to pay less than for individual dance lessons.
