There are no words to totally describe all the talent this humble perfectionist holds. Marcus has been working with us on restoring a older home throughout for the last four months...and each and every project was above and beyond perfection. We are almost sad that our endless projects are over...but want others to experience his quality workmanship!! 2005 plank porcelain throughout with all the proper prep work to level and seal the floors...baseboards and trim work too! Addition of master tile walk in shower...including plumbing, framing sealing. Installation of vanities mirrors lighting closet systems. The look is straight out of Houzz...he has exceptional taste in helping select materials and yet maintain budget costs. (or let you choose a color he is not fond of!!) Carpentry throughout was exquisite as he moved through the home with us tackling each and every item with ingenuity and expertise. It IS all the small things in life that really count....and we were so thrilled to find that with Marcus on the project...we didn't need to call in any additional companies to get the job finished. His wife Vivian who also is a perfectionist came to assist in all the construction clean up, detail painting and staging....they are quite the ultimate team! I have worked with many many contractors over the years and no one can compare....if he is available to quote to perform work on YOUR project....look no farther.... in fact JUMP on the chance! I have him on speed dial for any upcoming projects on Sanibel....and it is our pleasure to recommend him ...if you are lucky enough to find that he is available to do your project...hire him on the spot! Blessing to you and Vivian as you go forward Marcus...making customers happy, homes beautiful and collecting life long friendships one job at a time! We are grateful for our "chance meeting" here on Thumbtack!!

I had a great experience with Best price movers. The day of the move went very smooth, 3 guys came, each worked tirelessly and carefully with all my belongings. They wrapped my furniture in blankets and plastic wrap to make sure my items were protected at every step along the way. They were working so fast, I was amazed by how much they got done in such a short period of time. They knew exactly what they were doing and were very polite, professional and efficient from start to finish. I never got any attitude from them, even though we had pretty high demands. I've used many moving companies before, they were best team we have ever hired! They've exceeded my expectations! Moving is never easy, but I can say that the BestPrice team made it more pleasant than expected. I would use them again without hesitation and would highly recommend them to anyone we know.

Dustin was perfect and tremendous! He was always very responsive, timely, flexible, professional, had a good attitude, and worked very hard. I HIGHLY recommend!!! I had a local move from a one-bedroom apartment down stairs from the third floor and to an apartment with an elevator on a Sunday morning. Dustin said he would bring supplies to wrap and blankets for furniture. I rented a U-Haul trailer for the day. I asked him to call me when he is 30 minutes away and he did, and ended up arriving a few minutes early which was perfect. I was about to take apart some furniture and they did it for me. He quoted me at a flat rate that beat everyone else on Thumbtack and was equivalent to the U-Haul moving helpers. Dustin and Robert were well worth every penny!! He brought Robert with him for just over 2 hours of moving help, including a 30 minute drive to my new apartment. Their strength was amazing, and they were very professional throughout. They did a great job of protecting my items, and were overall better than the company my fiancé hired when he moved. They used my tools to disassemble my bed and dresser set, carried an incredibly heavy dresser with ease, reassemble, and there was no damage to any of my items. Robert brought his son, which I am assuming doesn’t happen every time, but he was sweet, adorable, well-mannered, and helpful. It was not a problem at all. I ended up paying them $45 more than I was quoted because they were amazing, efficient, professional, and I did not expect them to help disassemble and reassemble my bed set which saved me so much time. Thank you Dustin and Robert! If I move again I will definitely be using you, and I have already recommended you to family members. You made my move so much less stressful!

Jeff and his crew did an exceptional job moving a heavy daybed into an upstairs home. They were very careful and paid a great deal of attention to the task at hand calculating how to best navigate small doorways and angles. I really appreciated that they removed their shoes in order not to damage newly finished wood floors. They were all very polite and I enjoyed meeting them. Thank you! We will call you again for sure!

True Friends Moving Company Tampa rocks!!! I'm truly satisfied with this company. I inquired about them and received some information back the very same day via email and then received a follow-up call from Jimmie the very next morning. Truly impressed by the same day response, their follow-up and confirmation before my move and their call-ahead before their arrival. Affordable pricing especially their weekend rates. Awesome job done by Justin & Matt!! Very friendly, professional & hard-working individuals. I provided water bottles & gatorade to help them stay hydrated because Florida's heat is a little bit much this time of year!! I would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone who is moving. You can't go wrong with True Friends Moving Company Tampa. Thank you again!!

This company has to be to the finest moving company that ever dealt with the public. They were there exactly when they said they would be. I don't take care of my furniture as well as they did. OMG!!! They were like a team. Wrappers, carriers, and the packer that was like putting a puzzle together in the truck. They spent all day from 10 am. It was 90 degrees and they wouldn't stop. I felt so bad I ran out to get ice coffee for them then forced them to stop to eat sandwichs I bought. But after all was said and done someone in their company seemed to make a mistake on the estimate I was given. Instead of 1 truck it took 2 26' trucks. One of the owner Dave, showed up with the 2nd truck. He worked every bit as hard as his guys. I thought OMG this oversight is going to cost me a fortune!! I was shocked when I got a phone call from Kimberly in their company to tell me the mistake was on their part and they were honoring their estimate. Any company that stands behind their word is the company I will.ONLY do business with!!! SO IF YOU CHOOSE ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY YOU'RE MAKING A MAJOR MISTAKE!!!!!!

This moving company (Savannah’s Moving 727 455-1055) did an outstanding job moving my office and safe. They showed up to my office on time, and they had all the essential tools, packing material and equipment. They were very knowledgeable with moving, and respectful to my employees and myself. In addition, they were fully capable of moving everything without any problems whatsoever; they took all of the stress of moving away from me. And I will be using this moving service again in the future.

I agree with other reviewers that there is a bit of a disconnect in the office and my estimate was significantly off from my final price. There is also a bit of excessive overwrapping but I can understand why for a long distance move. Rose and Jennifer worked to ensure my final price was closer to the estimate and within my budget. William in logistics ensured the truck arrived within the timeframe I needed for a very specific and tight move due to a work start date. I would say what makes Great Nation great are the moving crews. Eric ran my pick up and did an excellent job securing my items and documenting everything that was loaded into the truck. Fred and Carlos went out of their way to ensure my delivery came on a specific day that was out of their time range. They were pleasant and worked extremely hard even though it was probably an inconvenience for them. Fred was on the crew for my pick up and was familiar with my items and my moving situation and just an absolute pleasure to work with. Even though there were a few hiccups I still 100 percent recommend Great Nation if you are looking for a fast and efficient move with great movers who care. A lot of long distance companies want you to wait weeks for your items. For a NJ to FL move I had my move completed in 4 days. I would definitely use Great Nation again in the future and would say any issue I experienced would happen with any other company. I called after another moving company bailed on me 2 days before my move. Great Nation was able to jump in and coordinate my move, deal with my high stress level, and make sure all issues were handled to my satisfaction. A+++

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
