We recently hired Eric to help with troubleshooting and fixing our Ruckus WiFi extenders after being unable to find sufficient information online ourselves. His previous reviews gave us confidence that he would be the right person for the job. We scheduled for him to arrive at 11:00 AM, with a quoted timeframe of 1–2 hours and an estimated cost between $95–$125. When Eric hadn’t arrived by 11:20, I messaged to confirm if he was still coming, and he informed me he was running late due to another job. He didn’t arrive until after 1:00 PM. Upon arrival, Eric quickly assessed the equipment and suggested we needed to upgrade our system. I asked him to try getting the existing system operational, and he agreed. However, over the next five hours, there was no communication from Eric about the job taking longer than expected, no updated time estimate, and no mention of increased costs. What we thought would be a 1–2 hour job stretched to over 7 hours. By 6:00 PM, he told us he couldn’t get the system running because it was outdated—something that, frankly, could have been concluded much earlier. My husband, who had been asleep due to working night shifts, was understandably upset to find the problem still unresolved and the job stretching far beyond our expectations. We decided to proceed with installing new extenders, which Eric described as a quick job. However, the installation took until after 8:30 PM, further disrupting our evening plans and causing significant inconvenience. In total, we were charged approximately $830—an amount we were not expecting, and which was never communicated during the service visit. We were left shocked and frustrated by the lack of transparency and professionalism in how time and cost were managed. However, things were further complicated by the disappearance of our Spectrum modem—property of our HOA. When we contacted Eric about it shortly after he left, he said he had already returned it to Spectrum. The next day, he provided a paper receipt that clearly indicated the return happened the day after our call, contradicting his earlier claim. He also left a big mess behind with papers and tie backs all over the floor—despite knowing we have an infant in the home. This could have been dangerous for our child. When I addressed him about it, he stated it was because we rushed him. It was 8:30 PM already!! To make matters worse, during a follow-up phone call to discuss our concerns, Eric made an unprofessional and inappropriate comment about my husband, stating that he needed to “grow up and be man to man.” This level of disrespect is unacceptable and added insult to an already disappointing situation. I must say, Eric did help us reset our Ring camera, which had been disabled during his service, and he was professional and helpful during that portion of the work. We appreciated that assistance. Overall, this experience was stressful, expensive, and handled without the level of professionalism or communication we expected. I would advise others to proceed with caution if considering hiring Eric. Be sure to get all expectations around time, cost, and scope of work in writing beforehand.
