Andrea did the makeup for my entire bridal party -- 4 bridesmaids and 1 bride. All 5 girls were completed in under 3 hours which kept us right on schedule. She was able to travel to my location, and Andrea was punctual and brought all the equipment she needed to get the job done (I was worried about lighting). Pricing was reasonable for such expert results, and was in line with other competitors -- I highly recommend splurging for false lashes because they photograph wonderfully. Our makeup lasted all day and all night, and no one got the "shiny" looks as the night progressed. Also, my girls felt beautiful and not too done up, and Andrea really took her time to ensure every girl was happy with her final result. Also, I do say to go all or none here -- my photos came out so beautifully in part because all my bridesmaids had a uniform look with their makeup colors and quality. I absolutely recommend Wham! Bam! Glam! for bridal/elegant make-up (already have actually), and would look forward to working with Andrea again in the future!

Taylor is phenomenal! She made me look and feel like the most beautiful bride on my wedding day. She was on time, personable and did a wonderful job bringing the image I wanted to life. She created gorgoeus teal smokey eyes, made my skin look flawless. Executed a romantic half up half down loose curl hair style as well as helped me apply my wedding jewelry. If you're looking for a makeup artist, look no further! Thank you Taylor.

We booked Aline for both hair and makeup for a wedding. She was amazing and did a fantastic job of makeup on both young and older face. The hair updo's were fabulous exactly what we wanted. She was quick and efficient with a lovely manner. If we are ever back in Orlando and needing hair and makeup I would not hesitate to contact her.

Tshidi is a wonderful makeup artist ! Her attention to detail is amazing. My daughter worked with her for a photo shoot with many vintage outfits and the makeup fit perfectly with the clothing. She also did her hair, also fitting the look.

Shany provides amazing & friendly service! I had limited time b/c my brother decided to elope, so I had very little time to plan things for my soon-to-be sister in law. So I went to Thumbtack to find a make-up artist & Shany responded. I won't lie, I was hesitant at first since I noticed she did mostly Indian weddings & we are Hispanic. Shany exceeded our expectations! She made the bride & I look amazing! Furthermore, I was having trouble finding a hair stylist through Thumbtack & she called up a few of her friends & one of them came through & made us look great! Thank you so much Shany, I will definetely tell my friends & think of you in the future if I need a make-up artist!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How long does a henna tattoo stay on?

Typically a henna tattoo stays on anywhere from one to three weeks. Henna artists work with henna paste, also called mehndi, which dyes the skin for a short period of time. An important part of Indian culture, the use of henna has become increasingly popular in the United States, with henna artists providing henna tattoos for weddings, as event entertainment and for other special events. Henna artists typically apply their designs to the palms and backs of the hands, the wrists, up to the elbows, and from the feet up to the knees. To preserve the rich color of your henna tattoo and help it set, avoid water as much as possible within the first 24 hours of application. The color will be richest during the first week. Brides may want to have their henna tattoos applied one or two days before the wedding for optimal results.

What is the meaning behind henna tattoos?

Henna tattoos, as they are called in the United States, have a long tradition in Indian, African and Middle Eastern cultures. For centuries, the leaves of dried henna plants have been ground into a fine paste to be used as a temporary and nontoxic skin dye. This form of body decoration has been used in celebrations, weddings and ceremonial rites of passage in many cultures. Often in Hindu weddings, henna artists decorate the hands and feet of the bride (and at times the groom) with intricate designs. In some Muslim traditions, henna artists paint women with henna designs as they are in their final stages of pregnancy. In the United States, popular culture has adopted this beautiful body art and henna artists provide brides (and sometimes grooms) with temporary henna tattoos. Henna artists are also a popular choice for entertainment at corporate events, birthday parties, bachelorette parties and festivals. Henna artists may charge anywhere from $10 to $300 per hour.

How do you choose the right makeup artist for your wedding?

A wedding makeup artist can ensure a flawless look on your big day. Finding the perfect person isn’t all about price, though. Here are tips for choosing the right makeup artist for your wedding:

  • Research before reaching out. Wedding makeup artists should have an online presence with portfolios of their work. Find someone with an aesthetic you love.
  • Read reviews. You want a wedding makeup artist who’ll be on time, do beautiful work, and add a positive vibe to your day. Pay attention if previous clients report bad experiences with a makeup artist.
  • Consider skin tones. If your bridal party has a range of skin tones, make sure your wedding makeup artist and assistants are experienced and talented working with everyone.
  • Is your top pick available on your date? If so, put down a deposit to secure their services.
  • Confirm rates and payment. Clearly discuss prices and payment plans, and sign a detailed contract so there are no surprises on your wedding day.

Do I need a makeup artist for my wedding?

There are no rules around your wedding day, and that means it’s your choice whether to have a wedding makeup artist. If you’re on the fence about hiring a wedding makeup artist, consider the pros and cons. Some women decide against a wedding makeup artist to save money. The national average cost for a wedding makeup artist is $70-$100, which is an expense some women prefer to do without. Other women just don’t love wearing makeup. Some brides have friends or family members who are talented makeup artists willing to provide their services. If you choose not to have a wedding makeup artist, be sure to do at least two trial runs of your makeup look well before the wedding day to avoid any morning-of panic.

On the other hand, a wedding makeup artist can make the bride feel pampered and confident, giving her a flawless, fabulous look for the ceremony and reception and in wedding photos. For brides who are uncomfortable with heavy makeup, many wedding makeup artists usually excel at the natural look. Many brides consider wedding makeup part of the ritual and tradition of the ceremony, a shared experience with the entire bridal party. Ultimately your choice of whether to hire a wedding makeup artist should be based on what will make you feel most confident and happy.

How much do wedding makeup artists cost?

A wedding means love, celebration and tons of wedding photos. Professional wedding makeup artists have you looking your best on your big day and forever after in your wedding photos. The national average cost for a wedding makeup artist is $70-$100, although this price can increase based on your location, the extent of the makeup services and the reputation of the makeup artist. Most wedding makeup artists offer discounts to brides who book group services for their maids, mothers and flower girls at the same time. Wedding makeup artists who also do wedding hair usually offer package rates for hair and makeup combos. Here are some examples of average wedding makeup pricing:

  • Bridal makeup: $85-$125. Pricing often includes full face, eyes, lips, brows and false eyelashes. Airbrush makeup may be an additional $20 or more.
  • Bridal hair and makeup: $150-$200.
  • Bridesmaid and bridal party makeup: $50-$100 per person.
  • Bridesmaid hair and makeup: $100-$150.
  • Flower girl makeup: $25-$35.
  • Trial sessions: $60-$120, depending on the makeup artist. Some charge their full rate and others charge a partial rate for trial makeup services.
  • Hourly rates to stay on and keep makeup touched up throughout reception: $35-$75 per hour.
  • Travel fees: 50 cents to $1 per additional mile beyond a set radius — such as 50 miles.
