The grass was overgrown because it was unattended for over two months (right during springtime). She did a great job and was responsive with my texts. She even got rid of a few garden snakes (including a copperhead) - thank you very much!!

I've been slowly working on my lawn over the last six year, but could never quite "finish." I finally decided to hire someone and found Leafy Lawns within minutes. Aaron did a phone consultation that evening, then stopped by for an in person look at my lawn the next morning. He listened to my ideas for my lawn and made some great suggestions to improve those ideas. The day after that, his crew came by and busted it out... FAST. The day after that, I hosted a party with 70 people and every one of them complimented me on my yard. We're really happy with the work. We really enjoy every inch of our property now. There are places to teach our kid about growing things, beautiful beds for our roses and nice, neat borders around natural areas. They even made a place for the neighbor kids to wait on the school bus (without messing up my flower bed). We love it all. Leafy Lawns is reasonably priced, does great work and is really serious about making you happy with the end result. they even left my three-year-old with a little gift bag of seeds to get his little garden started!

Company provides immediate quotes based on Google Earth views and measurements of your garden. An in-person visit might have avoided one small missed area and one area that was weed-eated unnecessarily. However they got all the edging done so professionally that i am happy to have them come in regularly. The garden looks so well manicured now! They did a thorough job. Nothing half-hearted about it. Prices reasonable.

We had a great experience with the Hershey company. He was on time and got everything done super fast and it looks great. We will be using him this season for all our outdoor lawn/garden needs. He is very reasonable on pricing and has a great positive attitude and demeanor. I would highly suggest this company for somebody who is looking for a good lawn care company that doesn’t want you to sign a contract and charge you $200+ a month.

Chris and his coworkers did an outstanding job for me in preparing the way for the creation of a rock garden. They put in a hard eight hour day without rest. Organiculture will be my go-to source for all things gardening from this time forward. Chris, the owner, is a very caring and responsible man who wants 100% satisfaction on every job he does. Highly recommended.

Truth is my health Chef Soul made me learn to envision on how to grow every moment. I've got a new perspective on plants and benefits inside each one pertaining to my health. The urge in my mind to fix my health and the kind words from Chef Soul made this transition much easier. Thank you for allowing me the chance to purchase these amazing meals. Curretly trying to plant seeds in my own garden like Organic Gardening is doing for Chef Soul. If ever the opportunity to use these products I suggest trying Mashed Potatoes, Cashew Milk, Sorrel, and Fried Dumplings. So many more food I have to taste but all the ones prior were delicious. Happiness is great form of love, love for yourself and your meals is great.

Claiborne, a.k.a. Handy Man Clay (HMC), was a pleasure to work with. My issue was a non-functioning outdoor electrical receptacle, HMC arrived promptly, whipped out his diagnostic toolkit, spotted the wiring issue in short order and agreed to return with parts to complete the replacement/repair at my convenience. There's a lot of competition in the Fix-It field - and no doubt quite a few folks who either are not up to the task or are somewhat lacking in dedication and/or scruples - so I do my research before initiating contact. In my case, HMC's references were primarily word-of-mouth and were invariably positive. This is a bright, enthusiastic young man and I recommend him without reservation.

Charles with Russtan Home & Garden was so professional and right on time, and very personable. This guy does excellent work!! I would recommend him to anyone who needs professional lawn care. I can't wait until it starts getting warmer to see the results of the work he is doing now that it is getting cold outside.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
