Brandy, says, "I cannot recommend Atlanta Enterprise Refrigerators & Appliances enough, especially Boris. After spending more than three frustrating weeks dealing with another company that repeatedly failed to show up, made excuse after excuse, and left me without a solution, Boris completely restored my faith in professional appliance repair. What stood out immediately was his communication. If there was ever a question, update, or potential delay, he contacted me right away. There was never any runaround, unanswered calls, or broken promises. He diagnosed the issue correctly, ordered the necessary part, and had my appliance repaired quickly and efficiently. What makes this experience even more impressive is that I had previously received a quote from Boris but initially chose another option due to cost. Looking back, that was a mistake. The previous technician not only failed to fix the problem but actually damaged an additional part of my appliance. Boris came in, corrected the original issue, fixed the damage caused by the other technician, and did so without trying to charge me an unreasonable amount of extra money. He was professional, honest, kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly efficient from start to finish. The quality of his work and level of customer service made every dollar worth it.Boris was truly a godsend, and if I ever need refrigerator or appliance repair services again, he will be my first call. If youre looking for someone who shows up, communicates, knows what theyre doing, and genuinely cares about taking care of their customers, Atlanta Enterprise Refrigerators & Appliances is the company to call.Thank you, Boris, for turning a very stressful situation into a positive experience. Highly recommended!"See more

Imran H. says, "I highly recommend Ackey for any HVAC related needs. I contacted Ackey through thumbtack to do maintenance on my gas boiler and Jonathan responded with the date and time a technician will come over. He himself came over on the said time and took a look at the boiler. He didn't find any problems with it and said that I should wait a few months to do maintenance since the everything looks fine with the boiler. I asked him how much I owe him for coming over and he said I don't own him anything. I was really shocked at his response. I'm not used to dealing with people with this level of honestly. I am a very happy customer and I'll be sure to contact them again for any HVAC issues, including boiler maintenance."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Yes, professionals who repair commercial refrigeration systems in Georgia typically need a conditioned air contractor license, along with EPA Section 608 certification. You can check a pro’s credentials on the state licensing board’s website. It’s always a good idea to do your own research to ensure your pro has the right qualifications for your specific job.

The best time to schedule commercial refrigeration repair is in the late spring. This timing allows a technician to service your units right before the intense summer heat and humidity arrive, which can help prevent breakdowns during peak season. It’s also a good opportunity to clean out the heavy spring tree pollen that often clogs condenser coils on the outside of commercial buildings, ensuring your system runs efficiently when you need it most.

Atlanta's hot, humid summers put constant stress on commercial refrigeration units. Additionally, the heavy spring pollen can clog outdoor condenser coils, forcing the system to overwork and risking a breakdown. For commercial kitchens or grocery stores, where equipment failure can lead to spoiled inventory and lost revenue, professional service can protect your business's bottom line.

Common signs that indicate it’s time for commercial refrigeration repair include:

  • Temperature fluctuations. Your unit struggles to maintain a consistent, safe temperature, putting inventory at risk.

  • Strange noises. You’re hearing new or loud sounds like grinding, clanking, or buzzing that weren't there before.

  • Excessive frost or ice. There’s a noticeable buildup of frost inside the unit or ice forming in unusual places.

  • Leaks or condensation. You find puddles of water on the floor around the unit or see excessive moisture on its exterior.

  • A constantly running motor. The motor runs nonstop instead of cycling on and off, which often means it's working too hard to keep things cool.

Your commercial refrigeration unit typically needs regular cleaning of condenser coils, checks on refrigerant levels, and inspections of door seals. A technician also clears drain lines to prevent clogs and calibrates thermostats for accurate temperature control. This routine upkeep can prevent costly breakdowns and keep your business running smoothly.

It might take anywhere from a few hours to a full day for a commercial refrigeration repair. Timelines vary depending on factors like:

  • Problem complexity: A simple fix like a thermostat replacement is much quicker than a major repair like replacing a compressor.

  • Parts availability: The timeline can be extended by a few days if specific parts aren't in stock and need to be ordered.

  • Unit accessibility: Technicians may need extra time to safely access and work on units that are in tight spaces or difficult to reach.

  • System condition: Older or poorly maintained equipment can have multiple underlying issues, which may complicate and prolong the repair.

  • Type of unit: Repairing a small under-counter cooler is generally faster than servicing a large walk-in freezer or an extensive multi-unit system.

Remember: The timeline for your project will vary depending on many factors. Always ask your pro to provide an estimate.

Every job is different, and there are many factors that might influence the cost of your commercial refrigeration repair. These include:

  • The type and size of the unit. Repairing a small under-counter cooler, for example, will likely cost less than servicing a large walk-in freezer.

  • The extent of the problem. A minor adjustment or a simple part replacement, like a new door seal, is much less expensive than a major issue like a refrigerant leak or a failed compressor.

  • The cost of replacement parts. The price of components can vary significantly, from a simple thermostat to a costly new motor or evaporator coil.

  • Accessibility and labor time. If your unit is in a hard-to-reach spot or requires extensive disassembly, the labor costs may increase to reflect the extra time and effort involved.

  • The urgency of the repair. Emergency service calls outside of standard business hours, such as on nights, weekends, or holidays, typically come with premium rates.

You can expect a commercial refrigerator to last between ten and twenty years. Its actual lifespan really depends on the quality of the unit, how often it’s used, and your maintenance routine. Regular cleaning and prompt repairs are the best ways to extend its working life. For typical lifespan references, see InterNACHI’s life expectancy chart.

To find the best appliance repair technicians in Atlanta, start by performing an online search. This streamlines the selection process so you can quickly view high-rated professionals near you.

Compare the pros' ratings and customer reviews, as well as any photos provided by clients — these are a valuable way to gauge the quality of the pro’s work. You’ll want to make sure the pros you’re considering have experience repairing refrigerators, dryers, washers, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves or any other type of appliance you may have.

You should also look into the pros’ credentials. For example, if you want to verify that the technicians you’re considering are licensed in the state of Georgia, you can try searching for them online.

The final step is to compare estimates and quotes from each technician. In the end, choose a technician you believe is the most qualified for your repairs — and charges a fair, competitive price for their services.
