Robert Poff says, "First off most importantly Atlanta Enterprise Refrigerator and Appliance, Deserves more than just five stars the fact that its Friday, July 3 and a lot of other appliance repair places are closed and wont be accept accepting service calls until Monday. Boris was absolutely phenomenal. Called him 2 days ago. Scheduled to come out Friday morning diagnosed our oven problem having to be just a faulty igniter and literally had the part and was able to replace it all within like 20 minutes. I highly recommend this place or if you need someone to fix your appliances, Boris and his company are the way to go highly recommend to anyone needing services done. Thanks again Boris for everything!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Georgia doesn't require a state license for freezer repair, but jobs involving extensive electrical work may need specific licensing. Additionally, pros who handle refrigerants need an EPA Section 608 certification. You can check for other potential business licenses on the Georgia licensing division website. It’s always a good idea to ask a pro about their credentials before hiring.

Freezer repairs can be scheduled any time of year in Atlanta, since most issues are caused by regular use, component wear, or airflow problems rather than seasonal factors. That said, late fall through early spring can be a good time for service to help ensure your freezer is in good working order before the extreme summer heat arrives, when units have to work harder to maintain temperature. This is especially important for freezers located in garages or less insulated spaces. Addressing issues early helps prevent breakdowns during peak demand and can keep your freezer running efficiently year-round.

In Atlanta, the biggest local factor affecting freezers is heat — especially for units located in garages or other unconditioned spaces. High temperatures can force the compressor to work harder, increasing wear and the risk of breakdowns over time. Limited airflow around the unit or dirty condenser coils can also reduce efficiency and cooling performance. In some homes, placement and ventilation constraints may make these issues more noticeable. Getting professional service can help identify these factors early and keep your freezer running reliably.

Repairing a freezer can be worth it, especially if the unit is less than 10 years old. A repair is often significantly cheaper than buying a new appliance, which can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. Compare repair and replacement estimates from a pro — if repair costs less than half of the price of a replacement, it's probably worth it.

Common signs it’s time to repair your freezer include:

  • It’s not cold enough. If your food is soft, thawing, or covered in meltwater, your freezer isn't maintaining a safe temperature.

  • There’s excessive frost buildup. A little frost is normal, but thick layers of ice on the interior walls can mean there’s a problem with the defrost system or a faulty door seal.

  • You hear strange noises. Loud buzzing, clicking, or humming sounds that are new or unusual can point to a failing compressor or motor.

  • The motor is always running. A freezer motor that never cycles off is working too hard to keep things cold, which could signal a refrigerant leak or other issues.

  • There’s a puddle on the floor. Water leaking from the bottom of your freezer often indicates a clogged or frozen defrost drain.

Some of the biggest benefits of hiring a freezer technician include:

  • Correct diagnosis. A pro can quickly and accurately find the real problem, whether it’s a bad compressor, a faulty thermostat, or a simple leak. This saves you time and prevents unnecessary fixes.

  • Safety first. Freezers involve complex electrical systems and refrigerants. A trained technician knows how to handle these components safely, protecting you, your home, and the appliance itself.

  • Access to proper tools and parts. Professionals come equipped with the specialized tools for the job. They also have access to the right replacement parts, which is a key piece of any appliance repair and ensures a lasting fix.

  • Saves money over time. A professional repair can extend your freezer's lifespan and prevent you from needing to buy a new one. It can also restore its energy efficiency, which may help lower your electricity bills.

  • Warranty and peace of mind. Most professional repairs come with a warranty on parts and labor. This gives you confidence that the fix will last and that you’re covered if something goes wrong.

Before hiring a freezer repair pro, be sure to ask these questions:

  • Are you licensed and insured?

  • Do you have experience working on my freezer's brand and model?

  • Can you provide a detailed estimate before starting the work?

  • Do you offer a warranty on your repairs and parts?

  • What is the estimated timeline for the job?

  • Will you be using new, factory-authorized parts for the repair?

  • What are your payment terms and accepted methods?

It's common for freezers to stop cooling effectively, often due to a faulty thermostat or dirty condenser coils. While you can try defrosting your freezer, persistent issues may point to a bigger problem that requires professional appliance repair to diagnose and fix correctly.

To find the best appliance repair technicians in Atlanta, start by performing an online search. This streamlines the selection process so you can quickly view high-rated professionals near you.

Compare the pros' ratings and customer reviews, as well as any photos provided by clients — these are a valuable way to gauge the quality of the pro’s work. You’ll want to make sure the pros you’re considering have experience repairing refrigerators, dryers, washers, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves or any other type of appliance you may have.

You should also look into the pros’ credentials. For example, if you want to verify that the technicians you’re considering are licensed in the state of Georgia, you can try searching for them online.

The final step is to compare estimates and quotes from each technician. In the end, choose a technician you believe is the most qualified for your repairs — and charges a fair, competitive price for their services.
