Alex just got finished mounting my 60in flat screen in my new apartment. He concealed the wires, my Roku, and my cable box for a super clean look that looks great in the living room. The appointment did end up quite a bit later than what was scheduled, but Alex kept me in the loop, and life happens so I see no reason to penalize. The important thing is that Alex came in and quickly got the job done and was incredibly professional. I am thrilled to have gotten this done. I WILL call Amtelcomm again and you should too.

Jimmy and team came to replace my window sills and door frame, and repainted the surrounding walls and molding. They did a great job and were in and out in a couple hours. Will definitely be using him for future repair and remodel jobs!

Extremely professional and knowledgeable. He gave me more than one option to repair my roof and siding, based on my budget. I'll be honest, I am on a budget so I chose the cheaper option. However, I have to admit the finished project looked as though I chose the most expensive option. After seeing his completed work I have decided to hire him for other home repairs. Overall, I have to give him the highest rating and suggest others take advantage of his honest quality service.

I trusted Miguel with the keys to my home - I think that speaks a lot to the confidence and trust that I had for him and his team. His work was absolutely excellent. He dry walled a great room, a bedroom, a closet and two hallways in my walk out basement. He installed pre hung doors and fixed an area of wood replacement. He assisted me in getting the correct materials and even helped return a couple of doors that were not the correct size. His professionalism is matched with his kind and trusting nature. I cannot say enough for my recommendation for Munoz Remodeling!

Wow! Sean was great through the entire process from the quote to the finished product. He came out to my home about two weeks ago to review the work I requested (paint front windows). He also made some suggestions which we agreed needed to be done. I asked him if he could redo the stair rails and he said yes without hesitation. Sean and his team came out to my home this week to complete the work. Boy, I was impressed. From pressure washing the steps to painting the windows, his work is impeccable. The front of my home looks brand new and so nice. His price was fair and he was very helpful. I will use him again!

Kendall is a true professional. He has replaced kitchen subflooring and replaced broken ceramic tiles, laid new plank flooring throughout my whole house, replaced toilets, built proper support under my screened porch, stained my deck, painted the exterior of my house, repaired plumbing leaks, and replaced light kits and electrical outlets. Every job he has done with excellence, making sure that everything was done properly. I trust him explicitly and would recommend him as a professional and as a person of integrity who is honest.

excellent experience!!! As a first time home owner I was a bit nervous about getting stone worl done but they did the tuck-pointing job seamlessly. Communication was excellent, the work looks GREAT and the Mason was super friendly and informative. He even left me some extra mortar and told me how to use it in case I ever needed to do any minor work myslef. He even took a look at my garage door jamb and told me how I could cheaply fix the gap there. A company that doesn't try to nickle and dime you and is helpful AND sticks to their original quote is a gem. I will be using them for years to come for any work I need done.

We are so happy in our new home thanks to Kevin Penney! We hired Kevin to repair our damaged siding. He did such a great job we hired him to pressure wash our house, driveway and patio. Again we were pleased with his work,we had him paint our door and replace our shutters."You should see the before and after pictures"! Once again we were so pleased we hired him to build us a wooden privacy fence and it looks fabulous!!! Kevin does quality work for a great price and he takes pride in his work and it shows! Kevin is a great guy and we wouldn't hesitate to hire him again or give him a referral. Thank you so much Kevin, Mike & Laurie R.

Great experience dealing with James and The Window Store. They replaced all the windows on my house and saved me a lot of $ by thinking outside the box (installing 72" sliders to reduce the number of windows needed). No one else suggested that. They look great and the price couldn't be beat. I will hire them again.

The guys I worked with were wonderful. Colby was diligent in arranging his tech, Matthew, to come all the way from Newnan to Covington to look at the job. We were surprised that Matthew came prepared to complete the job the same day. Ours was a small glass pane replacement job that had been turned down by 2 or 3 other contractors, but Colby was definitely interested in striving for customer satisfaction. I would recommend ATL Glass and Mirror to anyone. Mike M.

I live inStone Mountain and my home is surrounded by trees. My bay window had a unfortunate run in with a tree limb during a thunderstorm. I called Mr. Wilder, well Mark, and he reassured me that he could take care of me. He can over the same day and gave me a quote. Needless to say I was more than satisfied with his work. My windows look even better than before the accident. I would definitely recommend his services. T. Harris

Matt McShane has performed extensive repairs and improvements to my home. His professionalism, honesty and quality of work is extraordinary. One project he did for me was the complete gut and remodel of the basement of my home (which included 2 bedrooms, a full bath & laundry room). He also rebuilt and expanded upon the multi level decks on the back of my home. He recently repaired and/or replaced the cedar siding of the full exterior of my 3 level home. In the process, he rebuilt the bay window of my kitchen which had extensive rot. I have also used Matt for small projects such as garage door, plumbing and interior trim. I have come to believe he can fix and build anything!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

    • Trim repair:
      • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
      • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
    • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
    • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
      • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
      • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
        • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
