From the moment I reached our venue (Blue Ridge, GA), Tony and his crew were warm and welcoming and ready to video and take pictures right as I was entering... prior to our wedding (Oct 2014). Tony was calm and easy to work with and his (1-man) crew was professional. Tony provided us with the following services: DJ, Videography, and Photography. It's hard to imagine any one person/team being able to fulfill all these rolls, but Tony and his team did with quality and professionalism. Our wedding had about 50 guests and Tony gave us as much attention as if it were a larger event. The music we selected was spot on...he played exactly what we wanted. The photos he took were really great. The video he provided us with after our wedding has made me the happiest. There's no way to go back and physically relive your special day (It goes so quickly and is sometimes a bit of a blur), but choosing to have it videoed is the closest! I am beyond thrilled that we chose to do this and Tony did an excellent job capturing our day! Thank so much Tony!!!! I would definitely recommend hiring Tony for your event. Don't forget to have it videoed!

I had the opportunity to work with JD this past weekend and have to give him kudos! JD went above and beyond at the event to keep the music going, even when the bottom fell out of the sky and it was raining. He kept his cool, was prepared for inclement weather and kept the party going! (He was even kind enough to grab my camera bag out of the rain to keep it dry!) Through the years, I've worked with a lot of different wedding vendors, and JD gets my referral for dj from now on! Thanks JD and I look forward to working with you again soon!!

Pastor Rick was amazing. I was so scared that it would be obvious that we met him just for our wedding; however I have been asked multiple times if he was our family pastor. The service was beautiful, and so personal. I could not have asked for anything better.

Our original officiant cancelled with a week until the wedding. We found Jennifer on a short notice at a reasonable price. We were extastic. She was able to meet us at our location of choosing. (Which I felt bad because it was by a lake and I'm sure we all stepped in goose droppings) She wrote a lovely ceremony and was on time. In fact early. Only downfall was, we discussed a handfasting with 6cords, I emailed her the cows and brought them with us, but she ended up using her own. And she didn't come prepared with change so we ended up paying 10$more then we expected. But she did take a few pictures for us as well and we were going to provide a tip anyway. Over all great person and lovely experience.

We hired DJ Boots to DJ our 85-person wedding on the South Shore of Boston in May 2017. DJ Boots was wonderful to work with from before our hiring him all the way to our wedding day! Eric was able to answer any and all questions we had and was flexible in scheduling a time to speak with him over the phone before we had even decided to hire. With Eric, not only did we get someone who is an extremely skilled DJ, but someone who is professional, experienced, and fun as a master of ceremonies. He reached out to us with a very helpful template to plan the order of the reception. We let him know what kind of even we wanted, what ages would be present, and our tastes, and he was able to quickly pick up the vibe we wanted. We had music ranging from top fifty hits, salsa jams, and older classics. He made several great suggestions along the way, without ever feeling pushy or aggressive. On the day of the wedding, he planned on arriving a couple of hours early so that he would be totally set up and ready to go when the party got started. He perfectly executed all introductions and announcements throughout the night, giving off a positive, energetic, and comfortable vibe. Later in the night, with dancing, he appealed to all age groups and was able to keep everyone from my younger cousins to my college friends to my grandma out on the dance floor. So many people who "never dance" were dancing, happily. And people who had warned they might have to leave the reception early, due to kids at home, etc, did NOT leave early. By the end of the night, we heard from several people that our DJ was "awesome" and "perfect" and "so much fun." Eric has mastered the art of keeping the party going, being friendly and responsive to people, without stealing the show or becoming obnoxious. We were extremely pleased with our choice of DJ Boots and would recommend him to anyone planning a wedding. While our wedding was on the small side, I'm sure he would be great for larger groups as well.

We hired Alan to document our pre-wedding photos. From the outset, he was a pleasant professional to work with! Prior to and after hiring him, he was clear and prompt with all communication. Along with having a vision of how we wanted our photos to be captured, were open to his ideas and we were not disappointed. He captured the energy of our personalities in an accurate and wonderful way. We would definitely hire him again in the future.

Long story short, HIRE HIM! DJ ToneyStone did an amazing job at my wedding reception a few Saturdays ago. He’s professional, experienced, and works so well with you (and the crowd) before and during your event. Seriously, you can count on DJ ToneyStone to get the job done and done with excellence! For those who want to read more, here’s it all: Literally about two weeks before the wedding, my (now) husband and I decided we needed to get a DJ. We were originally going to just go with a Spotify playlist, but we realized we really wanted our guests to be engaged and entertained before and during the reception (especially as they’re waiting while we’re taking pictures with the wedding party and family). I cannot say this enough, but this investment was seriously the best investment ever! Granted, my dj-ing knowledge is extremely limited, and I’ve never had to secure a DJ before. It’s one of those things where I’m so used to going to events/receptions, and a DJ is just there doing their thing. But when you’re the one in charge of securing one, you of course want to make sure you’ve got the right person! So, I naturally asked alot of questions. DJ ToneyStone was very friendly, helpful, and went out of his way to assure me that he’s got it all covered. And for me, that was comforting to hear, especially as I was taking care of other last-minute details for the wedding. DJ ToneyStone was very prompt from the get-go with all our communications. The contracting process was very simple. He spells everything out and makes sure you’re both on the same page. And his rate is VERY fair. On the wedding day, he showed up on time, as contracted, and totally rocked the reception! My husband and I were still taking pictures when we heard music start up in the reception area. For a split second, we were just dancing and rocking back and forth. Then it hit us, “Hey, that’s our DJ! This is OUR party with the cool music!” It was then we KNEW this was definitely one of the best decisions made. We were just so proud! Adaptability-wise, DJ ToneyStone’s gotcha! Before the wedding day, we confirmed songs my husband and I definitely wanted played (i.e. first dance, groom/son dance, etc.) and also just the theme/style of music for the reception. Right after the wedding ceremony, we coordinated with him last-minute to announce the wedding party and introduce us for the first time at the reception. And he totally did not disappoint. There were some moments at the reception where we just needed some time filled or announcements made. All we needed to do was just run it by DJ ToneyStone, and he took care of it like the pro he is! Also, we totally didn't think about music for certain things like cake-cutting or bouquet/garter toss. No worries, though. He totally had it! Trust me, DJ ToneyStone is THE. GUY. for your dj-ing needs. He can do it all and then some. I promise you, his experience is evident; and throughout the process, I just had this sense of calm and peace. That’s because I just knew I made the right decision! He’s good people, and you can tell he’s just wanting to make sure everybody’s having a good time.

We used them for the month-of-coordination and it made that month and the wedding a breeze! They are fun and easy to work with and they truly want the bride and groom to have their dream wedding. They are very flexible when it comes to your location, pre-wedding meetings, and last minute changes. They work well with your vendors, officiants, and crazy family or friends as well. I wouldn't change a thing with our wedding and that's in part to these awesome wedding planners! Thanks for making our day great!

My guests loved this so much there was a line for the photobooth. My wedding coordinator said she has never seen a photo booth be so popular. The prints they gave the guests had the bride and groom's names & date. Very cute and professionally done. Arrived on time, asked me where to sit up and that was it. All the rest was taken care of! Highly recommend!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

  • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
  • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
  • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
  • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
