Scott's Treewurk is an excellent company which I would highly recommend and would use again... Scott was very knowledgeable in his field and gave me some great advice on the best way to handle the trees removal. Also, I had one tree that was located near a power line which Scott contacted the power company himself to have the line removed and replaced after the trees were taking down...I had several trees taken down and one large tree trimmed for a fair price and the guys did a fantastic job cleaning up after the service was completed... Like I mentioned before I would highly recommend this company.

A few quick message and a couple of pics to describe the job and they were out to do the job the same day. Even though the pics didn't quite do the job justice still provided a reasonable price which is key. Didn't initially highball the price either like some other quotes. Job: just clear/remove brush because I had already cut it all down and back.

Wesley did a great job removing 6 pine trees for me. He was the lowest price and completed the job within a couple of days of my request. He showed up on time and stayed in communication throughout the project. After the job was complete, he cleaned up all of the debris completely. There were no surprises and I paid him exactly as he quoted me. I have already told people about the great job he did and at such a good price. I highly recommend Wesley to everyone needing tree work. Dodd Black

The multiple visitors we had out our home left behind a large mess in our crawl space which required removal of the entire protective plastic barrier, sanitizing the area and reinstalling a fresh barrier. Nuisance Guard got rid of all of our visitors, sealed all the entry points and cleaned up after them for a very reasonable price.

Mike did an excellent job cleaning bushes and weeding our front yard. He not only removed the debris, but he sprayed the areas with herbicide and then spread fresh pine straw. We are extremely satisfied with his work and our outcome is better than expected.

Dale gave me a great quote right away and came out the same day. He was very professional and offered suggestions which i took up on his advice and did more to my yard. His prices are very reasonable for the work he does. He used his bobcat to remove all shrubs and small trees. Then leveled out the areas and removed all debris. He then came back and placed pavers and mulch in the project areas. I am using him again for another project.

Mario just finished up at my place not 20 minutes ago and did absolutely amazing. I had a huge area of brush that was covering a huge stump and he got everything taken care of, as well as got the brush down to the street for me so the city could take it. I just got in contact with him yesterday and he was able to get the job day today which I greatly appreciated. He was very hard working and after we did a walk through of what I needed he got right to work. I had a few little stumps added and he was able to adjust the quote on the spot. If I ever need *any* brush/stump removal again I’m 100% calling Mario. Thank you!!

Mr. Fletcher listened to my needs, and offered solutions to achieve the best result. There were 3 shrubs removed and transplanted in another area of my yard. Not only was it done professionally, but the area was left cleaner than before he began. We were given care instruction, which will definitely follow to ensure good growth. We are considering other projects and will not hesitate to contact this company again. My husband and I are very satisfied and would recommend to friends & family.

Jose is a professional landscaper. We hired him for yard work, Jose is punctual and came on agreed time. His communication is very thorough. He did a good job on laying pine straw, trimming the bushes and removing the weeds. He made sure the job was done right and confirmed if that is the way we wanted. He is reasonable in pricing. He also offered his advice on what is needed next time. We are very happy with his work and we will definitely hire him for our next yard work. We highly recommend Jose for landscaping.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to have your lawn mowed?

Regular lawn maintenance can do wonders for your home’s curb appeal. Professional lawn care prices will vary based on the regional cost to do business and regional cost of labor, the size of your lawn, and any additional services you may desire such as edging or mulching. The national average for lawn mowing costs is $30-$50. Pros may charge an hourly rate, a flat rate or by the square foot (an acre contains 43,560 square feet). Square footage rates factor in the professional’s time, the use of their equipment, and the gas to operate the mower. Distance may also affect cost: If you live outside the company’s standard service range, you may pay an additional travel fee. Here are some examples of average prices for mowing and lawn maintenance:

  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
    • Bimonthly: $40 per service/$80 per month.
    • One time only: $45 per service.
      • Prices include mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.
  • Hourly rate: $25 per hour (including travel, equipment costs and labor).
  • Lot size:
    • Smaller lots in subdivisions: $35.
    • Half-acre lot: $50.
    • One-acre lot: $100.
