Despite rain, Oliver wanted to quote downing a tree, cutting off a broken limb too high for me to get to, and removing ground debris from broken tree limbs. His quote was competitive; he arrived for the job as promised, downed the tree and broken limb and removed the debris. Blew chips off the road and cleaned up the job. I highly recommend Oliver and All Steps Covered.

I asked Alex and his team to remove a 50ft by 10ft bed of juniper and remove 20 overgrown boxwood shrubs from my front yard. Alex offered us the best value for this work. His team worked efficiently, diligently, and methodically for around 5 hours. When they were done cutting out the landscaping, they hauled away a 10ft pile of roots and bushes on their trailer. They cleaned up professionally when they were done. We appreciate the work Alex and team provided today.

I've used clean cut lawn service twice this month. My yard has many sweet-gum trees and requires sweet-gum removal as well as weed eating. The final result both times was a job well done. I will continue to use CCLS for maintaing my lawn.

Very pleased with our revamped back yard!! After grading, we no longer get massive puddles across the entire yard, and the sod is already greening up nicely. :) Highly recommend; DYG Landscaping was able to completely clear brambles and underbrush, grade the entire yard, lay sod, lay pine straw, and even prune a tree for us in a single day! Fantastic work!!

Lucio went above and beyond with the tree cutting project! He was very professional, turned up on time, courteous and above all was very attentive to details. He took additional time in cleaning up the area very thoroughly. It felt like Lucio didn't do this as just another job, but he spent concentrated time and effort to ensure that he did an excellent job and he definitely over delivered! And the price that he charged was very reasonable. It was a true pleasure to have Lucio take up our project and it was a positive experience. I would recommend Lucio for any landscaping/tree trimming projects without any hesitation.

I worked with All Pro Tree Service to cut down a tree in the backyard of my rental property and I was very impressed with the job they did. Their communication, the cleanup, and most importantly their quote. I had a second company go out prior to them and Allpro's quote came in exceptionally better! I have worked with several tree removal companies in GA and they are hands down one of the best! Thanks for everything!

I inquired about pricing due to the snowstorm that knocked trees into my yard. I had a few estimates before Pro Landscaping arrived but Wyatt Chavez was great to work with and reasonably priced. His team was prompt and efficient. I highly recommend using their services. They made the job quick and easy and I'm thankful for their help. Great job.

They provided me with a reasonable quote, seemed nice and stated they would arrive in the afternoon to trim tree. I asked for courtesy notice if anything changes since I was taking day off work to be here. Did not show and did not call. This was completely understandable because it rained heavily though a courtesy call would have still been nice. Today they notified me that they would be out by noon. I agreed and again asked for a courtesy notice if anything changes since I would be taking time off work again. By 1 no show and no call. I contacted them and was told they would be out by 2 pm. As of 5 pm no show and no call. That's 2 days taken off work for a simple tree trimming job and they did not show up either time. I understand that things change, you get busy, etc... all totally understandable but the lack of courtesy to notify your client on the status is not understandable ESPECIALLY considering I had mentioned up front that the primary reason I was having you do this job was because the last tree company did the exact same thing and didn't show up or call! If there was an emergency or something I'm not aware of let me know and I'll remove this review but based on prior experience of lack of communication I'd say the odds of that are rather low.

We had a very tall tree blow over and land on the backside of our home. No extensive damage to the house, but the position and height of the tree prevented me from removing it on my own. Out of the 8 companies I contacted for a quote, Gordon Pro Tree Service was the only one I felt gave me a fair price for the work that needed to be done. The guys were on time, friendly, professional, and provided a couple hours of entertainment for my girls. If asked, I will recommend them to my friends and neighbors.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
