You aren't going to find a better math tutor anywhere. Arbor is the best.
We found Robert in the middle of the school year in 2014. Our 8 year old son was having a very challenging time with math, and his father and I were not able to assist him without us all ending up beyond frustrated. Robert is soft spoken, kind, patient, encouraging an effective! Our sons grades have improved, and he comes home from school telling us that math is easier for him than it used to be! We would highly recommend Robert to any parent considering a math tutor for their student.
I’ve taken my SATs a couple of times and although I am not a bad student, I just felt that I could have done better, I knew it inside, but just could not find where it was. I got the Getting Into The Ivys tutoring program and worked with a Chelsea tutor. What I really like about my tutor is that she’s a qualified teacher and is professional and knows how to actually teach concepts properly. I really did not want to take any chances. Going to university is very important to me and my family. Susan my tutor developed a special study plan just for me, which helped me focus on my key weaknesses, without feeling de-motivated, in-fact I was so enthused by her, I actually looked forward to all my sessions. She is a brilliant tutor and I am so very grateful. I was able to increase my composite core by 100. I am very pleased.
Coach Kam worked with my son to improve his Math SAT scores. Although we haven’t received the results yet, he did feel extremely better prepared for his test. She was thorough and helped him through concepts for better testing skills.
Best language lessons I have had.
They were totally awesome. I needed help with SAT prep-- really math and reading assistance. Everyone was down to earth and they knew how to explain the material to me in a way that connected with my learning style. I would definitely recommend them. I've already signed up to work with ACTODAY throughout the school year. Thanks.
I interviewed and asked around about several tutoring companies in the north Atlanta area and found The Learning Island to be not only reputable and challenging for my son, but also more affordable. I found Billy Satterwhite, the owner and founder, to be a hardworking businessman and educator of high integrity, and extremely flexible with occasional schedule changes which I aimed to keep to a minimum. I appreciated that he and my son developed a comfortable rapport. I'm happy to say that my son's scores increased as a result of his tutoring sessions, and he felt good about his relationships with the tutors. It is very conveniently located for the Sandy Springs, Chastain Park, Vinings, and north Buckhead communities. The whole experience was overall very, very positive and I highly recommend The Learning Island to anyone with teenagers looking to prepare for their standardized tests.

Help get your K-5 student reading and writing on grade level!
I have a Bachelor of Arts' degree in English. I believe that teaching is more than imparting knowledge – it is inspiring change. Good teaching fosters sense of student control over learning and interest in the subject matter. I create learning tasks appropriate to the student’s level of understanding. I also recognize the right the uniqueness of individual learners and avoid the temptation to impose “mass production” standards that treat all learners as if they were exactly the same. In order for learning to occur, students need to connect to their own prior knowledge. Connections are like building bridges between the old and new. This building bridge can be brief or in-depth as long as it serves the needs of all learners. Reassessment determines prior knowledge whereas connections provides the link between old knowledge and new knowledge. I have been teaching AP Spanish and English for 20 years including two years at the middle school level. Each student learns differently and I always adjust my methods in order to get the best results from each learner. 98% of my students raised their English / Spanish AP grade from D to A; you/your child can, too. The role of a tutor is to help the student help himself. Tutoring is the short term answer to help the student gain confidence and learning skills. In other words, my objective is more than rote learning; it is about making connections to the real world. I include appropriate character development with real world connections with every lesson. Overall, I am trained to differentiate any lesson through scaffolding techniques, as well as rigorous assessment, making sure to present appropriate and leveled instruction. I look forward to meeting your student to see if we have an academic fit.
