Lalo is picking up my leaves this fall. I have several oak trees on my property that take me hours to clean up alone, but Lalo is able to do it quickly and affordably. The yard looks great and I get some of my weekend back. Thanks!

I hired Jesus and his team to replace a rotting wood retaining wall that was over 20 years old. Jesus was always prompt, courteous and professional in all our communications. He always showed up on time and asked the right questions. Just that alone would set him apart from the majority of others that I had considered and contacted. On top of being a great professional, his quote was significantly lower than others. His team quickly completed the work, let me know when he was done, sent me a photo and then met me for the final inspection. I was so thoroughly satisfied with his work that I hired him for additional tree and shrub trimming work the same day he did the original job. I will definitely keep his business card around and refer him to others. Great job!

I hired Scoa remodeling to work on a house built in 1953 that I am about to sell. There was rotten wood all along the exterior facia which needed replacing and painting. Mr. Wilkins proposed a plan to repair the wood, and pressure wash and paint the exterior. His work was quick and very professional so I hired Scoa to paint the interior and fix some buckled dry wall. Mr. Wilkins repaired dry wall, fixed a minor mold problem and painted the interior of the house. The work took about 1 1/2 months and was very professional. He gave me a fair price on all the work. I will hire him again at my next place. Also, I hired Jimmy for an entire home remodel and he handled the entire renovation for me. He painted the interior and exterior and painted the kitchen cabinets so now they look brand new. He installed brand new hardwoods in the kitchen and sanded and polished the existing hardwoods so they look brand new also. He renovated two bathrooms with new tile and glaze to the existing tub so that looks brand new as well. He installed all the new fixtures and appliances in the kitchen. You can hire Jimmy for small jobs or very large jobs. His prices are very good and his quality is excellent. I highly recommend him and I will call him my self for future jobs.

Mr. Martell contacted me immediately, and we agreed that Leafy Lawns would complete the job. My yard was somewhat bigger than anticipated, but they did a wonderful job of cleaning the yard of leaves, debris, wood, and weeds. Additionally, the yard, which originally looked like a jungle was clear and safe enough for children to use as a play area. I had a fallen tree limb that they cut and removed, and they also trimmed hedges. Once the job was complete, Mr. Martell, personally came out to ensure that I was satisfied with the results. He then touched up some areas and did not leave until I assured him that I was satisfied. Leafy lawns had the equipment and the crew to more than adequately transform my yard. I recommend Leafy Lawns, and will continue to use them on future jobs.

Anthony and crew are hard workers. They took on a substantial task (transferring a mountain of wood chip mulch to the back yard) and saw it to completion. They also left everything neat and tidy. I'll definitely hire them again for future tasks and highly recommend.

My job was completed in a timely manner. The job consisted of replacing closet rods and shelving that fell from the walls because they had not been installed properly. The drywall was repaired and painted and all rods and shelving was replaced the right way this time. I can’t wait to organize my closet. Ben did a GREAT job. Great personality. I would definitely recommend this company.

James and crew did an awesome job sawing off a lot of front yard Bradford Pear limbs for better visibility and increased safety. He got me situated with a all weed lawn by spraying weed killer and putting down a heavy layer of wood chips. I was so impressed with how great the front yard looks.

This transaction was smooth sailing, Isaac showed up, got to the issues and did not even charge me the full quote amount. On top of that he went above and beyond. A reliable source for lawn care, tree trimmers, I like the Honest nature of the Owner. That goes a long way with me. I'm going to be using LawnEnforcement again in the future.!!!! For sure 4 thumbs up.

Atlanta Fireplace Specialists (Lance) put in some gas logs in my former wood burning fireplace. Lance's quality of work was excellent and we enjoy the fireplace all the time. Lance communicated with me every step of the way and he delivered on everything he said he would. My wife appreciated how clean Lance and his team were. Our house was clean and you could not tell they had even been there. I would highly recommend Lance and his team

Kevin did a great job on my yard and has various options for you to decide on. He was fast as well. I gave Kevin four stars instead of five because there was supposed to be a cut, blow, and trim process but his trimmer equipment had a malfunction. Other than that, he customer service is great.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

      • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
      • Read online reviews of client experiences.
      • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
      • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
      • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
