We received a flea treatment service from Be Gone, so I wanted to wait a few weeks before rating to see if the services actually worked. They did! I am in shock! Only because if anyone has dealt with fleas before they absoluetly know how much of a nightmare they are to rid. Be Gone was very professional and affordable. He was able to get us on his schedule almost immediately and his process took less than 30 minutes to complete inside and outside of our home. We have an infant under one, two dogs and 1 cat, so services that would be effective yet safe was a priority. Be Gone was able to provide both and we weren't forced to leave the home for any amount of time while the treatment was being completed. Most of all, the service was incredible affordable! We'd shopped around several other companies and we decided to hire Be Gone for the simple fact that even if we needed them to come back, he would have to return nearly SIX times before reaching the cost of another company. No brainer! Plus, we weren't required to do any extensive after care. Highly recommend this company for a flea treatment service as a flea invasion can can certainly be a COMPLETE disruption to ones lifestyle and quality of life in general. Thanks so much! Hopefully we'll never have to call you again, but if we know we know it won't be SUCH a bad thing!

Both wranglers worked on squirrel removal today, professional, came as agreed, and placed metal as a barrier in all gutters. Hopefully that keeps all the squirrels out. so far so good and have no hesitation recommending these guys.

The multiple visitors we had out our home left behind a large mess in our crawl space which required removal of the entire protective plastic barrier, sanitizing the area and reinstalling a fresh barrier. Nuisance Guard got rid of all of our visitors, sealed all the entry points and cleaned up after them for a very reasonable price.

I live near a creek. I do not have river rats but my neighbors have had them. Wanting to prevent them in my house, I hired Robert Scott, owner of Avexium, a highly skilled and experienced rodent control expert. He applied a roof exclusion which is a metal strip at the roofline which block rats and other rodents from entering the attic. Robert applied wire mesh to a wall of lattice-designed bricks on the wall of my attached utility room. He also plugged all holes with mesh and an exclusion-type caulk to keep animals from entering my home through those tiny entrance-ways. If that wasn't enough, Robert's previous experience as a general contractor gives him a grounding in house construction unlike his competitors. After completing the rodent exclusion work, he added a few wooden supports, purlins, inside my attic roof which had never been placed in the attic above a finished carport. I found Robert to be an exceptionally hard-working, courteous gentleman with a work-ethic that won't quit until the job is done in an excellent fashion. I can't recommend him highly enough!!!

Vinny was my savior today! I am terrified of snakes and had a copperhead on my back patio. Vinny responded to my job request this morning and was out at my home 2 hours later. He took care of the snake for me and now my wife & I can rest peacefully at night! He’s very nice, very reasonable on price, and got the job done correctly. I would HIGHLY recommend him for any type of wildlife/rodent removal!

Pete responded immediately to my inquiry and came by the same day to look things over. We just bought the house and didn’t realize how serious not having insulation in the crawl space is! Freezing floors! He discovered traces of a prior rodent infestation and all sorts of things that the home inspector missed completely. He gave a full detailed technical explanation of costs options benefits. He did the almost unimaginable and passed his volume savings onto us for materials; got his crew to do the job ASAP on a Saturday and even fixed our non-insulated door and wasn’t going to charge me for the material and labor for that work! I️ insisted on paying for materials. On the door alone he took the temp from 19 to 43 degrees. The crew were in and out in about 3 hours. He sent before after photos and shots of him testing the temperatures with the thermometer. A plus off the charts. Highly recommended. He says he likes to help people and get the job done. I’ll say!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost for a pest control service?

Whether you need to get rid of bugs or rodents, pest removal professionals can be lifesaving when you have an infestation. Pest control prices will vary based on what type of pest is being removed. The national pest control price range is $80-$130, although prices can be much higher for tasks like wildlife removal (raccoons, bobcats, etc.), which might start at $250 and exceed $500, depending on the animal and the trapping measures required.

The cost of eliminating a termite colony ranges on average from $240 to $400, but these costs can increase greatly if the whole house is infested. The average cost to kill cockroaches is between $80 and $130, while bedbug extermination ranges from $320 to $400 on average. The main factors that will affect your pest control price are the type of pest, the extent of the infestation, the accessibility of the infested areas, and the type of treatment required.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.
