Mr. V Appliance Repair came to repair the washing machine. After trying to get appts. with other repairmen, a recommendation led us to Mr. V. Called him by 10 am, had repairmen by noon and the washing machine was repaired by 2 pm. You never want to have to go through a repair or pay for one, but it is great when you can get good quick service. Repairmen are polite and went straight to work. Will call them again if needed.

I hired Scoa remodeling to work on a house built in 1953 that I am about to sell. There was rotten wood all along the exterior facia which needed replacing and painting. Mr. Wilkins proposed a plan to repair the wood, and pressure wash and paint the exterior. His work was quick and very professional so I hired Scoa to paint the interior and fix some buckled dry wall. Mr. Wilkins repaired dry wall, fixed a minor mold problem and painted the interior of the house. The work took about 1 1/2 months and was very professional. He gave me a fair price on all the work. I will hire him again at my next place. Also, I hired Jimmy for an entire home remodel and he handled the entire renovation for me. He painted the interior and exterior and painted the kitchen cabinets so now they look brand new. He installed brand new hardwoods in the kitchen and sanded and polished the existing hardwoods so they look brand new also. He renovated two bathrooms with new tile and glaze to the existing tub so that looks brand new as well. He installed all the new fixtures and appliances in the kitchen. You can hire Jimmy for small jobs or very large jobs. His prices are very good and his quality is excellent. I highly recommend him and I will call him my self for future jobs.

Came and fixed my washing machine. Tried everything he could to make sure it wasn’t a “simple fix” before deciding it needed a new pump. Much appreciated. Also, punctual, quick service and left everything neat and tidy! I will call again if I need any other appliance repairs.

Elmo was extremely helpful and provided a great service. He was friendly, responsive and flexible, and adjusted our previously agreed-upon appointment time due to work obligations. He was able to diagnose the issue with my washing machine and explained what part was dysfunctional and needed to be replaced. While he offered to purchase the item and come back to replace the part himself, he also encouraged me to look around for a cheaper part than quoted for and ensured me that I could replace it myself, which I was able to do. Would definitely recommend.

I called IT WORKS and spoke with Phillip about a washer and dryer that were not working. Phillip was going to be out of town, but had his associate Koffi call me and setup a same day appointment to repair both appliances. Koffi came to my home, quickly diagnosed the issues with my washer and dryer, and had both working good as new in a couple of hours. They were both professional, honest, and kind. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is need of appliance repair services.

This guy Eric is a total scam artist. Came to "repair" my washing machine. Told me the issue and suggested we just go with a refurbished machine. Paid him $350 for the refurb machine and he has basically disappeared other than giving me a mobile number of the "dealer" who is clearly a buddy of his in on the scam. Shame on me for paying.

My old washer had a crack and was leaking. It was not a cheap repair so I decided to just replace the washing machine with an older machine. Due to our budget we got an older washer that is pretty basic. The washer is a little bit smaller than my old one but I can't complain. The washer is quick to wash, cleans excellent!!, and not noisy at all. It's a sharp machine and I was honestly shocked at how great it is for the price and that its older. I could not be happier about it. Thank you A-Team!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
