I work for H&L Tire and Auto. I found out through my GM that we have been using Boost by Design for a couple of years. I was hired on as a service writer but I was also expected to build up our website and social media awareness. For the last few weeks I have been emailing Boost by Design almost on a daily basis. Not only have they answered all my questions but have assisted me within a few minutes if not within an hour or two. Their timeliness and professionalism is a cut above the rest. If your looking for a company to help with your website then you have found the right place. A+ across the board.

I love the smiles and "Thank You!" I receive at the end of every assignment. I love the emails and referrals people give me too!

My work stands out because, and I'm being serious here, from a unique viewpoint that only I am aware of. Or at least I think so. I write for myself. I write things that I want to see and, more importantly, things I want to see that do not readily exist. For every major blockbuster movie that exists, I write or develop the kind of blockbuster I "want" to see, which, admittedly, is not for everyone. Or maybe it is. We'll see.

I have a Master's Degree in Education and have experience in editing different types of writings. I also have experience in organizing the contents of essays as well as editing.

I research, write, and edit writings of a variety of genres. I can simply proofread your work, or assist in obtaining facts to support your writings. I also do my own personal writing to keep my skills sharp.

I am a Freelance Health and Beauty Writer; a beauty expert, in everything from holistic wellness to plastic surgery. I have a strong background in medicine and marketing but enjoy all forms of creative writing.

I am a freelance writer. I have been writing for myself for over 20 years but have just recently decided to get into freelance writing for others. I also have two college degrees in criminal justice and would like to offer my 5 years of educational experience to you for any writing or editing you may need.

I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature with honors. I have edited, rearranged, typed 3 doctoral theses and 2 masters theses. I have edited a book, and hired and supervised an Index Author. I have superior written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail. I have prepared several successful grant proposal, including the highest proposal submitted in NY State. I composed, edited and submitted materials for accreditation for 3 college programs.

I like to work with clients to connect them with their best customers -- those that highly value the goods and services they offer and keep coming back for more.

I offer medical writing and editing services of all types. I write for professional and consumer audiences. I write about all areas of medicine, health, lifestyle, fitness, and parenting. I specialize in medical education and medical news.

Writing is my hobby and way of life. I bring things to life through my writing skills given to me by God.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

  • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
  • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
  • Expertise in your target area.
  • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

  • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
  • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
  • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
  • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.
