I have several experiences with Kris and her catering business. Her food has always been satisfying at every occasion. I have helped Kris cater in the past for several Christmas company parties and weddings. The event that stands out the most for me is my own wedding Kris catered. Kris was very professional with meeting with me to discuss the menu and cost. She took what I wanted and expected seriously. She went above and beyond to make my special day everything I wanted. The presentation of her food display is always planned out specifically for the event it is being catered for. Kris has a true passion for cooking and her love of cooking shows when talking with her for different events. Kris is always prepared and ready for the demands of the job. She is always trying new things to meet the needs of her customers. Kris's food will leave you satisfied and convinced you will be coming back again and again and again.

We hired Mark after interviewing several chefs and trying their cooking. Mark is able to combine flavors in a way most average people cannot - his made-from-scratch sauces and flavor combinations are awesome. He cooks primarily paleo and organic for us, and it has been great eating his food!

Excellent doesn't even begin to describe Purple Orchid Catering's food. Lisa turns food into an art form where her passion and love is apparent in every meal. Her work moves beyond just the food, but invests into the atmosphere of the meal as a whole. There is much to be said for this approach and how it enhances not just the food, but the environment of the gathering. There are many that claim to be chefs, but few possess the innate talent found at Purple Orchid Catering. I cannot recommend their services enough. You will not be disappointed with Lisa and the outstanding food that she will bring to your gathering.

I do good work and use my exp to help and do quality and safe work/conditions i feel you will be happy with the choice you make and hope to see more of you in the future

I am all about making anything and everything I can from scratch, I rarely buy anything from the grocery store that has been mass produced and highly processed. I make homemade breads and baked goods, jams, nut butters, almond milk, yogurts, ice creams, hummus, granola, granola bars, salsas/sauces, pizzas, and cakes. I love cooking with local and seasonal products as much as possible. I can cook any cuisine, some of my favorites are Thai, Mexican, and Russian/Ukrainian. I really enjoy making healthy but filling meals, I make the best salads and soups anywhere and pair that with some fresh homemade 9 grain bread and your in health food heaven. I love being able to cook and bake for people and get instant gratification. Food brings people together and makes cultures unique, which is a main reason why I'm so interested in the culinary industry. So indulge a little and invite me to cook or bake for you!

Let me take the stress out of cooking for you. Specific dietary needs are welcome! I host an in-home cooking demonstration, interactive dinner party or a get-together with your friends and family. I will take care of all of the details.

I took courses in culinary arts and I am finishing my AAS in baking and pastry arts in the fall of 2015. I desire to teach others, especially children, the ways to cook and bake. Children have a desire to create and they love to make others happy. What better way then to learn how to make meals and desserts for others. Not only will you learn how to bake and cook, but you will be able to make a five-course meals from start to finish.

I am able to do everything around the house like yard work, carpentry, painting, cooking, laundry, floor and window too. I am a professional chef of 20 yrs. I have 4 kids and lots of experience in my own home. I am very reasonably priced.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
