I have been receiving voice lessons from David Eickstaedt for the past three years and made a lot of progress with my singing voice. At the beginning of a lesson, when he introduces a new idea, it seems as if it will never help me. But thirty minutes later when I'm applying it to a song, I always find that it does work. After all, he is the teacher and he really knows what he's doing.

I've had several lessons with Eliza-Jane so far and they've been wonderful. She's very kind and makes you feel comfortable as a student immediately. We've been focusing quite a bit on my breathing technique and finding ways for me to sing safely in a way that doesn't strain, which has been very important to me. I also want to note that I'm a music theater singer, and two lessons in she already started helping me find good songs for my book. I definitely recommend!!

My daughter takes voice lessons and participates in theater at Stacey De and Co. We couldn't be more thrilled with everyone there, from the professional front desk staff Bre, outstanding director Sean, absolutely irreplaceable Melissa, and of course the heart and soul of this great place Stacey. The time my daughter spends at Stacey De and Co. every week is her favorite time of her week. In a completely non-stressful, family-like environment, she is stretched to really push her limits, is taught life lessons like the value of hard work and the ability to accept constructive criticism/evaluation and then improve on those things, and so very much more. She leaves every lesson and rehearsal a little more confident, learned, and determined to succeed...all in an environment of happiness, laughter, encouragement. I don't know what else one could look for in a fine arts school. My daughter and I both love it here.

As a teacher, Bill's abilities are of dual importance. He has an invaluable teaching ability for guiding new students, young and experienced performers with the technics required for training the voice for maximum sound, quality of sound and maximum control of the vocal capabilities. He also focuses on the importance of diction, pronunciation, interpretation of styles and showmanship. Of equal importance he can vocally demonstrate and clarify his instructions and showmanship. As his accompanist for many years, it has been my priviledge to work with Bill.

I worked with Liz for many years from my late teens all the way through my twenties. She taught me so much about my voice and how to sustain myself through all difficult vocal situations. Not only is she knowledgable, but she's also incredibly passionate and understanding of her students (believe me, others have spoke highly about her to me as well). Undoubtedly, she's an unstoppable genuis in the vocal world and I'm so glad to have her in my life as a mentor and a coach. Thank you Liz! Although I don't know if I can ever truly express how grateful I am for everything you've done for me. Please give Liz a shot if you want to learn more about your voice, if you're a beginner, or a seasoned professional. She won't steer you wrong!

I (adult) have been taking voice lessons with Kelley for approximately six years. Voice lessons were something I always wanted to try and I never imagined I would sound like I do today. My range has been stretched and I have learned the skills to sing my favorite genres of music. Kelley had also helped me prepare for auditions. I would highly recommend Kelley.

I really enjoyed taking guitar lessons with Ryan! He took time to really listen to and understand what my goals were and helped me work towards them, which is no small feat for a complete beginner. He explained new concepts in ways I could understand and I felt comfortable asking for clarification. He also gave me a variety of different exercises (chords, scales, picking, strumming, full songs) to keep things interesting and to keep me engaged. I also liked that he added in a little music theory (at my request) so that I knew why I was doing what I was doing. In all Ryan is kind, chill, accommodating, talented, and thoughtful, so I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.

I admit I am very picky. I came on here and takelessons.com and decided on Sara for two reasons. I saw a sample video of her voice and I felt comfortable that she would not laugh me out the door being new to singing. Well, I feel lucky to being taking lessons with Sara. She is very balanced, being understanding and also pushing for accomplishing goals. Well, I have had lessons for the past four months and moving to Colorado. I hope the technical works because I do not want to lose her as my coach, so asked her if we could try skype for lessons. Anyway, I hate to give away a great secret, but Sara is outstanding as a voice coach! I always felt uplifted after lessons too.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons at Lyriq since January and our experience has been nothing but wonderful. Evan is great with her and at her young age of 5 recognizes her strengths and what she needs to focus on to make the most of her talent. She loves working with "Mr. Evan" and looks forward to class each week. The office staff, especially the owner Sarah Ma, is extremely professional and flexible, including accommodating changes to lesson schedules. The well-designed facility is brand new with top-notch instruments and individualized rooms for all private lessons, with a grand piano in the front room that is used for recitals. Added bonus for us...it's within walking distance from our house! :)

We love Bellas Artes! The teachers excel at combining technique and joyful discovery within an atmosphere of encouragement. My kids LOVE their lessons with Destiney and Constance and, more importantly, are learning to love to play music while being challenged and encouraged. Having such talented musicians who are so gifted in working with kids is such a blessing! Practically speaking, it is great because with 5 kids it is huge to have both piano and violin lessons in the same place, and they are always gracious in working with my schedule. We highly recommend Bellas Artes!

I sing soprano with the Chicago Chorale, an all-volunteer choral organization with an audition requirement. To sing with the Chorale you need to be able to sing two arias, one in German, sight read, generally be able to produce a reasonably accurate pitch and attractive tone quality and generally be a nice person. It's selective but not so selective that the director only takes professionally trained singers. When I auditioned, at 36, I hadn't sung since undergrad. I didn't own a piano. I found my aria books in the bottom of a box. I practiced, on short notice, for three days. It was a rough audition. But, one way or another, they let me sing! My natural tone quality is high, thin and whistly. That technique works, in a choir, but it's a fast track to throat pain and nodes. I was struggling with the range and couldn't produce the volume I wanted to hear so I asked my section who they would recommend for voice lessons. On day one Thomas transformed my whistle into something Puccini would have, okay let's be honest, Puccini would've been irritated but it was a heck of a lot closer to what Puccini would've been looking for than the whistle ever was. I learned how to adjust my breathing and vocal anatomy to produce a full tone at a much louder dynamic while maintaining an attractive tone quality. After that, the hoarseness and pain in my throat with which I ended every rehearsal went away. Thomas is seriously a miracle worker. If you're doubting, just try it. Take it from me. You'll hear the difference within the first hour.
