I have been taking Spanish lessons with Cristobal for coming up on a year and French lessons for the past 6 months or so. While I am sure that there are plenty of choices for tutoring this may be the only teacher I have had that I can honestly say has far superior methodology versus all my other professors. I don't say this lightly either, I say this coming from years of experience with other teachers in various settings. Just to give a little background, I studied Spanish for 3 years in high school, then studied in Mexico at a vocational school in a completely immersed environment (living with a host family of non-English speakers) far from the reaches of most gringos in a small city called Cuernavaca. I have worked with native Spanish speakers that speak very little English for 10+ years, studied Spanish in college for 4 semesters, and even studied with Professor William Slavin for two years in weekly private sessions, a local scholar who spoke English, Spanish, French, ,Italian, Portuguese, and Hebrew. While Slavin's approach was very thorough, Cristobal's approach is practical, more natural, and aimed at speaking. Ole! Spanish School isn't just another business in the sea, it's a place with an authentic philosophy and a natural approach to language learning. To make the experience even better, his rates are super reasonable and he has a very easy going personality that creates a relaxed environment. His positive ratings exist for a reason.

Patient, focused on the lesson, knows what he is teaching, and his ability to explain things in English is enabling me to fully understand the language. If you want to chit chat or have small talk, Adan is not your guy. If you want to work and learn Spanish, then he is your guy.

Erika is an excellent Spanish tutor. She teaches through reading, watching videos, and speaking. Her lessons have a historical and cultural component, in addition to conversational Spanish and colloquialisms. Our hour lessons fly by, and sometimes we lose track of time and keep chatting after the lesson is over. She is always engaged, interested and passionate about the material, and able to answer any questions. I never feel uncomfortable or nervous when speaking to Erika in Spanish. I highly recommend Erika for Spanish tutoring!

About

In your normal language classes in school, you learn grammar through listening to your teacher talk. You never are given much opportunity to talk. In my classes, you will learn any grammar subject through you speaking and conversation. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, we will have a conversation. Whatever it is you need or want to learn, you will learn it as YOU speak, even if you are a true beginner. I guarantee it. I focus on the common errors of Spanish while using Speaking, Journals, Worksheets, Listening Activities, Videos and Reading activities to couple for success.

I´ve only been working with Cristobal for a short time due to my work schedule, but I´m very comfortable now with speaking and reading Spanish. I really like his approach to teaching the language and his passion for it. He also has group meet ups so that you can enjoy speaking with others on your proficiency level and continue gaining confidence in your speaking ability.

About

It was in my 6th grade introductory Spanish class, where I developed a great passion for the language. From the start of our very first lesson, my love for Spanish was automatic. Never did I anticipate how much of an impact this passion would have on my future not only as a student but also as an individual. Following my graduation from high school, I studied abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico, at the Cuauhnahuac Institute of Languages and Cultures for 3 weeks. While in Cuernavaca, I lived with a lovely host family, and therefore had the opportunity to advance my Spanish language skills even when not in the classroom. In college, I traveled to Lima, Peru, to study abroad for a full academic year. In Peru's capital, I was fortunate enough to live with two different host families and study at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, where I attended classes with Peruvian students. Although a tutor's academic background is important, I believe that the ability to be an effective listener is invaluable. For this reason, patience is my number one priority as a tutor. I hope to not only assist a student in learning a new language but also to ignite an enthusiasm for the subject, particularly for those whose difficulty with the language has caused anxiety or disinterest. Despite the fact that a tutor has the background knowledge, I will always see myself as a student, as there is always something new to learn! This makes teaching exciting and refreshing, as there is always something about the language to discover or rediscover. Please visit me on Wyzant to view my tutoring profile where you can find my Spanish certification, passed background check, and reasonable pricing.

About

I am an Illinois state certified Spanish bilingual teacher with a bast classroom experience. Currently, I teach Spanish immersion to little one. Music is one of the tools I used to enrich my classes.

About

I educate students in learning the complexity of the Spanish language, teaching them the skills needed to become fluent readers and speakers, using web-based programs to build their vocabulary and listening skills. I also teach the grammatical structure of the language. I work as an independent contractor, selling and providing a variety of technical and marketing support to small- and mid-sized companies in the implementation of technology to improve operation cost and increase sales and revenues. Most of my ideas resulted in significant savings and promote the creation of a steady increase in revenues and profits.

About

As a client you would be hiring someone who has successfully taught Spanish in a variety of contexts: as a private tutor; as a small business Spanish teacher; and as a traditional class room teacher. As a private tutor: I have seven years of experience as a private Spanish tutor to well over 100 students. Many of my students have been at the point of near-failing Spanish class when starting Spanish tutoring lessons with me. After working with me, many of them have become A/B students. I have received many testimonials from parents of my students regarding the effectiveness of my Spanish tutoring: I have the ability to "smoke out" a student's learning gaps and provide the strong grammar foundation that is so often missing. I also specialize in helping students to develop an authentic Spanish accent. Some students have simply wanted to learn Spanish apart from being in an actual class. These have primarily been adult students who have had some previous Spanish classes earlier in their lives. These students have been very eager to learn, as they would like to learn Spanish not to pass a class but to use it in real life--either personal or business. As a Spanish teacher at a small business: I was hired as an independent contractor to create and teach a curriculum that would be "fun" while providing solid Spanish grammar at a small business that does business with Spanish speaking countries. Using Power Point, wonderful online videos, and interactive, group exercises and games, I provided twelve months of instruction that the company's owner found very valuable in his travels to these Spanish-speaking countries. As a Spanish substitute in one of the local public school districts, multiple students from various classes have said to me: "I learned more from you in one day than I have all semester/year!" While my work in the public school is done as an employee of the school district and not as an independent contractor, it confirms the same positive response that I have received from my private students and from the students that I taught at the small business.

My rates are as follows: - $40/hr. at a student's home within 10 miles of Wood Dale, IL - $20/hr. at my studio in Wood Dale - $15/30-minute lesson via Skype I am a guitar teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching all different styles of music, including blues, folk, acoustic, funk, ska, rock, metal, melodic, country, classical, punk, alternative, and various other melodies. I have played concerts all over the state of Illinois, and I have taught many students throughout the years. I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced players. I am very passionate at what I do, and I will guide you through the proper steps in becoming a great guitar player. Playing music takes a lot of time and patience as well as a lot of practice playing by yourself and in front of people. I am very relaxed and motivated to help my students learn, and I will guide you through everything. I would prefer that students bring their own guitars, so that you would be more comfortable playing their own instrument. If you can't or do not have one, I have guitars here that you may use but during our sessions only. Check out my video. With a lot of practice and a lot of studying, I can show you how to play like a pro and have fun! Lesson Details In my curriculum, students will start off by learning the basics of the guitar, knowing the parts and accessories and so forth. Then, we will move on to tuning and perfect pitch. As we move on, students will learn how to build and maintain a rhythm. Learning how to play chords is essential, and we will be going through chord progressions and how to recognize and memorize the various chords. Furthermore, I will be showing students how to read tabs and write music. I will be showing students the different types of scales there as well as the keys that they are in for those who want to become soloists. I will also be teaching different techniques that are incorporated with tapping on the fretboard as well as various other techniques. All of these lessons will be taught in our private sessions, and each student will receive homework assignments, so that he/she can go home and practice what he/she has learned. I will be having tests later on, in which I would ask you to play one of your favorite songs. With enough time spent practicing, you can become a master of your instrument. Studio Equipment Basement studio: amps, guitars, wah pedals, music stands, guitar picks, and music sheets. Travel Equipment I have an amp, wires, picks, guitars, gig bag, case, music sheets, picks, and music stands. Specialties Teachers marked as a student favorite have taught a minimum of 25 lessons and have received the highest feedback rating from students. My styles include rhythm and blues, rock, funk, pop, classical, country, classic rock, metal, thrash, alternative, punk rock, folk, and various other melodies.
