My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)

I found Eric through a friend of a friend and love him. My 12 year old son has been taking lessons from Eric for about 6 months now and really enjoys it. I never have to remind him to practice anymore. Eric is reliable, always on time and enthusiastic every time we meet.. My son can't wait for his next drum lesson. He really seems to be learning a lot.

I started taking lessons from Mike in 2009 after not having played since high school. Mike starts you off at the level he feels is appropriate for you, and you go from there. A great thing about the class are the lessons are recorded, which saves so much practice time throughout the week. With other classes, if you wrote or remembered something wrong, you can waste a whole week practicing something incorrectly. The lessons build upon each other, and do make you think; many are quite challenging, but the payoff is looking back and what seemed difficult months earlier, you can now do without thinking. Mike also gives you excellent pointers on how to break the lesson into segments and put it all together. The only complaint I have is I wish he were my teacher when I had started playing years ago; I would have never stopped. You can’t go wrong learning at Chicago’s #1 drum lessons.

My wife and I am very fortune to have Andrew Sole as a drum teacher for our twin boys. Our boys have been taking drum lessons from Andrew for two years now. His teaching skills and care are main reasons why our boys enjoy his drum lessons. We highly recommend Andrew's drum lessons to all. Thank you, Andrew!

My daughter has been taking drum lessons from Dave for over three years. Her percussion skills and love of different musical genres has continuously and vigorously grown. Dave is always upbeat and professional during the lessons and his visits are an important part of our week.

I have been taking piano lessons for 5 years, voice lessons for 9 months and flute lessons for 6 months at Music Makers...For Life, Inc. As an adult with prior music experience, I had certain ideas on how I wanted my lessons, and Theresa was very willing to accomodate my wishes. She always tried to work within my schedule as well. Theresa was always kind and patient with me and always made me feel good about my music and myself! I'm also impressed with how her school is structured for kids. They earn "music money" if they've practiced their lesson or land on the right square on the board game the teachers use to reinforce their teaching. Then they can spend their "music money" in her "music store" on small toys, or t-shirts, tote bags, etc. This really motivates the kids to want to practice! Older kids might be invited to join one of her rock bands, which perform around the county. Playing in a rock band helps to keep the teens enthusiastically engaged in their music! Music Makers...For Life is truly "The Fun Way to Learn to Play"!

I contacted Jerry, inquiring about in-home guitar lessons for my daughter. He replied immediately with helpful suggestions of an instructor. When I realized my daughter wanted a female instructor Jerry went out of his way to find out more about my daughter and the kind of instructor who would be compatible with her. He then suggested one of two female instructors he felt would meet her needs. I was impressed with the time and effort he put into helping me find an instructor for her. This was extraordinary that he would take the time to help me when it did not directly benefit him and he did not even know me! I had originally contacted Jerry because of his highly regarded reputation for teaching and instruction. But now I also hold him in high regard for his kindness and dedication to helping others find their way into the world of music.

I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.

I took lessons with Brad for over 10 years. He was always willing to work with me on what I wanted to work on and was patient with me when I didn't practice (which was sometimes quite apparent.) He is a really nice guy and I couldn't recommend him enough.

We just had our first lesson with Mike and he really knew how to engage my daughter in her drum lessons. He asked her questions, got to know what makes her tick and used that to motivate her.

Patty and Jestin are very friendly and have opened their musical home to my 10 yr old daughter who is quite shy. She loves her weekly lessons and they are both extremely educated in music. They both play multiple instruments. She has learned a lot in the last 4 months plus. This couple, which I would highly recommend, are very hip and take onto kids as if they were their own. I love how they teach and how easily my child retains the information. They also are very easy going on missed lessons (sorry) and rescheduling! Thanks Patty & Jestin for spreading your musical talents!

I was looking for a private viola teacher to help with my 5th and 6th grader to keep up their skills over the summer. I got very fortunate to find Ms. Codruta and my kids have excelled under her teaching. We have had 10 lessons so far and my kids have grown exponentially and are super excited to show their orchestra teacher how much more advanced they are. Additionally, I am very impressed with Ms. Corduta’s flexibility with scheduling, which has helped with my family’s busy schedule. Last- she is very positive and knows how to challenge the children and get the best out of them. I would highly recommend her for private music lessons.

My son learned to play guitar there at the age of 5. He is now 12 and has continued his lessons and has formed a Rock Band where they all practice and perform through the music school. They have all learned a tremendous amount and it continues to be a wonderful experience for them.

Frank is the best choice for great music lessons, I had him as my drum instructor for around 3 years. He taught me everything I know now and helped me build a foundation to be a great drummer. I Highly recommend him to anybody wanting to learn how to be a great musician and have FUN at the same time too!!!

About

I'd say that I stand out because I'm somewhat younger than other teachers but well experienced already. I am more up-to-date on the newer styles of drumming but have also taken the time to learn the classics such as jazz and shuffles.

About

My name is David M. McCray. I am offering music lessons, in my home or yours. I offer instruction in composition, music theory , aural skills, saxophone, flute, guitar and bass guitar. I have an M. M. (Master of Music) with an emphasis in jazz arranging from Northern Illinois University. I also currently hold a P.E.L. (Professional Teaching License), Type 10 - Standard Special (K-12) - Music, and have experience teaching private instrumental music lessons to students from age eight through adult. I have played gigs in many bands in ten states over the years, and I have also played solo shows (blues, folk and original compositions) in Iowa, Illinois and Alaska. I record my original compositions in my home-based project recording studio. I have self-produced five CDs since 2004 namely: Bootstraps (2004); Prospect St. (2007); The Promise (2010); Selfish World (2012); Blues and Folk (2012 - old time blues and folk covers). I have an intimate familiarity with Abode's Audition recording software, as well as the Sibelius musical notation software. I have a great ear, and I incorporate aural skills into my lessons. My master's degree from NIU in jazz arranging prepares me to teach music theory in lessons as well.
