I will be eternally grateful to Keith and his awesome partner for coming to our rescue on very short notice. We recently found ourselves in a predicament with a horrible contractor we hired to finish our basement. I called Keith in a panic and asked him when the soonest was that he could come look at our electric in our basement. He came out with his partner in record time, and upon looking at the basement, he determined that the electrical that was installed was a complete mess - the wiring was wrong in every fixture (we have 20 can lights and 16 outlets on the wall!!) and the wiring from the main panel to the subpanel was incorrect, which would have caused our A/C to overload. Keith and his partner immediately figured out what all the problems were and got to work, fixing it all and leaving us with a beautifully lit basement. Not only were they both completely efficient, but they were very thorough and knowledgeable about how to precisely configure the wiring to ensure our safety in our home. As they were close to finishing the job, Keith made a special trip to Home Depot to get more wiring and the correct breaker to fix the mess the other contractor made of our electrical in the main fuse box. I'm sure this would have cost us much more money than what he quoted us at, but Keith didn't charge us more than what he originally estimated. We cannot thank Keith and his partner enough for a job very well done! I can finally have peace of mind in knowing that my house is not going to burn down, and we owe it all to Keith and his partner! I highly recommend Enigma and I will be referring Keith to any friends or family members looking to have work done. His knowledge, experience, and professionalism is top notch, and we couldn't be happier with his performance.
I experienced water damage (leaking roof) and needed to have my hardwood floors repaired (damaged boards) and resurfaced. The area covered much of our first floor (kitchen/dining + hallway and 2 bedrooms)...about 875 sq ft. I obtained bids from several contractors on Thumbtack, but after speaking to each, put my trust Procare Restoration. Paul (flooring expert) visited my home, explained what was needed, and was very knowledgeable. John, at the Procare office was very prompt on providing an estimate and working with me on the specifics. Paul returned to perform the work himself (and did a fantastic job!) and was punctual, polite, and professional. The floors look great and I would recommend Procare!
My bathroom floor had some water damage around the toilet and Ron did an excellent job getting it back to a safe and usable condition. He is wonderful with explaining what has to be done and is very professional and pleasant- we will call him for every project we have in the future.
I am glad I hired Tom. I had rotten window trims on the bottom of my bay window. Tom responded my request and contacted me promptly. After we agreed to the price, he gave me a head up for unseen problem which may or may not happen. Luckily it didn't happen. Also he saw anthoer area was damage, he planed to replace them for me with a little extra. I am glad he did. His (assistant) work was done as original. Material and workmanship are professional. I have attached the photos before and after. Highly recommend !!!
PK was excellent, professional, and reasonably priced. They went out of their way to help. My phone was down also, and they kept in contact with me via e-mail as to arrival time, and as to what I could expect, and even let me use their phone to make some important calls. The price quoted was 'by the job', whether it took an hour or six hours, so there were no surprises or add-ons. I don't like plumbers, as a matter of fact, this repair was the result of a botched, way overpriced repair by another contractor. PK changed my opinion. I would HEARTILY recommend using them for your job, and I will certainly use them again, if necessary.
I used J & S Exteriors to repair siding that was damaged due to a deck being removed. Jeremy at J & S Exteriors was very prompt, answered my questions, did excellent work and was very reasonable. I would definitely hire them again! A+++
We needed to remodel a bathroom, which had not been touched in 35 years and included a leaky toilet leading to a damaged floor. We sought bids on Home Advisor. Two independent contractors responded in addition to Sears. I met with each to describe the projects goals, namely 1) to repair the damaged floor, 2) to ensure no further leaks from any pipes or the toilet, and 3) to remodel and update the shower, vanity, floor tile and walls. We were really impressed with Bruce Filipiak of Genesis Construction from the very first meeting. It was clear that he understood the scope of the project and had the experience to do the work, while cautioning that the extent of the exact damage was unknown until they floor could be removed. We met with Bruce at least twice more BEFORE we signed any papers he was willing to advise us as we delved into the details of designing our new bathroom. After resolving all initial issues we signed the contract with Bruce and looked forward to getting started. We expanded the scope of the project a few times on our own and a couple times on Bruces advice. For example, we decided that we also wanted to replace an unrelated exterior door and Bruce accommodated that request. We also decided we wanted a built in the wall shelf in the shower, and again Bruce told us he could do it. Bruce agreed to receive the shipment from Menards at our house. Bruce advised us on the potential additional costs when necessary. He found a couple electrical wiring issues that he fixed as well Once the job was started, Genesis Construction worked clean. The downstairs floor path was taped down to protect it, plastic sheeting was put up to minimize dust spread, and the stairway carpet was covered during the workday. Once the bathroom floor was removed Bruce let us know what damage had to be repaired and preceded to fix it. Everyday we marveled at the progress. They started when they said they would and the project finished in a reasonable time. It looks beautiful! When we sat down to settle up at the end of the job, Bruce produced receipts for everything purchased to accomplish the job. We are very happy with not only the work Genesis Construction performed, but also the way he helped us through the process, and letting us know what decisions and choices we needed to make. We definitely recommend Genesis Construction and Bruce Filipiak.
Ed changed my views and gave so many great ideas for this big project. Ed took care of all permits, dealt with the inspectors and was very impressed with his knowledge of decks. Deck turned out better than I thought. I also hired Ed and his team for interior work as well very impressed on everything. Which I can say he's my new contractor!
I hired Sam to complete multiple repair projects on my garage: lighting, door frames and locks, siding, and to repair the corner and roof where it had been hit by a moving truck while turning the alley corner. He also installed a wooden frame along the alley to protect the siding from being damaged by the garbage bins and a metal post to prevent the garage from being hit by another truck. His price was reasonable and he completed the work efficiently and within my timeframe. He sent pictures of each component as it was completed to be sure I was happy with the work. I will hire Sam again with future projects.
Robinson was very competitive with his bid and followed through on all the agreed upon work. He and his crew framed out and drywalled enclosing the 2nd bedroom and installed a door and moving track lighting and reconfigured the loft railings. They painted the entire 2 bdrm condo with exception of the bathrooms which didn't need it. He also alerted me to water damage that was still happening that we thought was fixed and determined where the leak was coming from and caulked around that exterior door to prevent future damage. He was a pleasure to work with and when I pointed out things that needed to be done, he got right on them. He went over the agreed time by a couple of days, but there were a few items added on so I can't complain. Be aware if you are drywalling, you are going to need a thorough cleaning to get rid of all the dust. Robinson did haul away all the debris and did a cleaning. But due to the fine dust everywhere from drywalling, it's going to need a more thorough professional cleaning. I would definitely hire Robinson again.
We initially contracted with Tom to remodel two bathrooms and install tile floor throughout our downstairs family room, hall and son's downstairs bedroom. Tom was doing such a great job so we began to trust his work the more we saw getting done. We then also asked him to remove wood paneling, install drywall, paint our entire lower level, add can lighting and install solid core doors throughout our house. We are thrilled with the finished product. He works faster alone then other contractors do with entire crews! Great work at a reasonable price.
Jim and his team did a fantastic job. After many failed attempts several contractors to repair a leaky roof, Jim and his team were able to immediately identify the source of the leak and repair the problem. Advantex is a company built on honesty, strong work ethic and superior craftsmanship! I would definitely recommend Jim and his team at Advantex for your project!
Hired Mike to take down several dead trees and haul debris away. They worked very hard, did exactly what I asked for. It was a hard job, some trees were 15ft pines others were 30ft Ash trees . I will definitely use their services again. Very Happy
After hail damage to my roof, I called Joel and he helped me through the entire process of processing my insurance claim, selecting a high quality roof, all the other details, and had it installed in a few weeks. His crew was courteous, neat and experienced. I couldn't ask for a more professional quality experience.
Bobby and his son came in to do various jobs for us. They drywalled the garage, added insulation to the attic, stopped a leak that shorted out our fire detectors, installed new fire detectors, fixed our door to the patio that leaked and switched our washer/dryer around.
Ed is a professional and we have trusted and worked with him on several projects . Our basement flooded with damage totaling $40,000. Ed came in with a crew and personally saw that the work was done to code, the contractors were prompt and the entire job was completed on time. Ed returns calls promptly and always gives his honest opinion. He is dependable and honest- we highly recommend Ed for any and all jobs .
My basement flooded and they came to remove all the damaged materials and dry everything out, was very happy with the job performed.
I had a leaking roof in the dead of winter and all the contractors I called told me that it was to cold and icy to get on the roof but Jones Asset came out and repaired it with no problems. They also remodeled my kitchen that had water damage in it Dom the leaking roof. Thanks a million and I highly recommend there services!!!
To anyone looking for a contractor large or small Joe is the one you are looking for. My name is Debbie, I live in Glenview Illinois. I have been saving for many years to put an addition on our house. I have been very skeptical of contractors in the past, but my friend who used Joe for his driveway was very happy with the work he did. The business is called Junk It Joes (clean outs, demolition, excavation and concrete). I hired him for an addition on our house and demolition of our one car garage to build a two car garage and a full 500sq ft addition with 9 ft basement on back of our garage, which is always scary putting that much faith in someone to put a hole in your house, and I was nothing less than very pleased. The references I checked all came out excellent and his estimates came out in the same ballpark as for our budget. The speed, in which it got done, even though he is not a large company, was fast. The most stressful part he put behind us and our minds at ease. It saved us a lot of time and money to hire one company when we had concrete companies that did not do excavating and demolition which added allot more to the bids. Joe informed us it is the same equipment to do all this and also said it takes alot more time to have 3 different companies lined up and also the amount we saved we were able to get a lot more. We acted as the general contractor to save money and Joe helped us every step of the way with other contractors so we did not get ripped off. He informed us that we could always fire contractors if we were not happy and by making sure we did not pay in advance for work not completed. With this knowledge he gave us the upper hand. He worked side by side with other contractors to make sure everything went smooth as soon as the house was opened up. He put plywood and plastic up so no saw dust or debris came into the house. The site was cleaned up every day. I didn't have to worry about mud, dust or debris getting into my house. After the third day we were very at ease with going to work knowing Joe and his crew was amazing and they all knew exactly what to do without being told. He informed us him and his three main guys been with him since he started. We had kids there and they were nothing less than always professional and on time. My kids and neighbors kids loved watching the project. Because of this Joe stayed late put orange safety fence up every night another thing not in our bid. He went above and beyond; he also made sure other contractors put it back up. He was very concerned about the kids getting in and hurt. He was also big on the contractors we hired conduct themselves professionally and not use four letter words when having a bad day. It was summer and hot it was august and we let other contractors know Joe wanted to call a meeting of everyone we hired to make sure if they could not get there when called to retract there bid and that was kids and winter around corner. It was not his job but he is such nice guy that everyone respected him including us. I believe he was the youngest owner we hired of a company. He never had to yell or act like a jerk and let everyone know this is someones home savings and lifelong dream. He made sure everyone knew that its not just a job. He explained all costs and step by step of what would be done. He was very forthcoming if something had to be changed. He is very honest and takes pride in his work. He was always at the job every day and treated it like it was his own house; he worked longer and harder than anyone else. He wanted to make sure, due the fact that houses are so close to each other, that no damage was done to our neighbors house or ours with the big machines used he did it himself. He even put up silk fencing before he started at no charge to us. There was a problem with an electrical line missed marked and had to be moved right in the path of the new addition. When digging it shut the job down temporarily, but Joe got Com Ed out right away to move the line. This was not in our budget but we already knew we saved so much when he had to call me at work he was scared. Glad to inform you with him that was our biggest problem and we lost no sleep. By end of the week the job was back on schedule. We never had to worry about materials not being paid, he did this without asking. When it came time for every payout there were only three. He turned something I thought was going to be a long nightmare into something that did not take much of our time. However the job was big enough Joe explained that what he quoted was able to do extras and not work for free. Not because we were homeowners trying get everything for the cheapest or free. He informed us yes there are bad contractors but there are people that rip them off too. So it works both ways. Joe showed proof of all receipts (which I would never have thought to ask). He also informed us to do the same thing with the other subcontractors we hired that were doing work as well. I have heard of horror stories of liens being put on homes, we never had to worry. We didn't even have to put a deposit down until the concrete was ready to be poured. The job came in under budget and was done very professional. He never tried to over sell us anything we did not need. We asked him about heated concrete floors because we heard other people loved them. Most contractors would jump on it and charge a fortune for extras. He told us that it was very efficient but his crew has only done a couple, it is very time consuming and worries about leaks in the line. Instead of trying to sell us on it, he told us get bids. After we told him how much others cost he said he would do it for the cost of labor only if we order it. He spent so much time with the manufacture on the phone and made sure he would not have to rip his new concrete up. He said he has done a couple but has been lucky, not what we do every day. We paid for the system and he only charged us labor but the deal was my husband had to help so they both learned about it. It cost us less than half the bids we got. We love it, the best thing ever got and we were still within our budget. My husband is a union carpenter whom would work with Joe or recommend him any day. He was very impressed with his work; he went above and beyond what was expected and even threw in a few extras to keep us happy. After the second day I was completely confident I hired the right person. He did a follow up call after the first month, three months later and stopped by just to make sure we were still happy and there were no problems. This is our second year and have passed his name along to all my friends and family. We are happy to report that we love our addition and have made it the dream house. Its done, furnished and we saved so much we could furnish it. I never thought in million years the project would come under budget. For being the biggest project I ever taken on, without him I dont think it would have went as well. It was well worth the countless hours my husband and I spent with him he acted more like the general contractor. We had enough for a new concrete driveway in the end instead of asphalt. We offered him a bonus since he acted like a general contractor and relied on him so heavily we felt bad but he turned it down. He said his guys deserve it more than him but he could not take it. He said if we wanted to get them any Christmas presents that he usually gets them gift cards for red wing boots. He said he has not been able to do it past few years because of the economy and after the job, they did need them. He still sends us Christmas cards and so do we.
