My name is Curran Hickey, and I want to apply to the U.S. Military Academy. The first time I took the ACT, I scored a 28 with a 22 in math, which really held me back. After a few short weeks with Mr. Pillarisetti, I was able to boost my math grade 5 points to a 27. This is the singlehanded reason my composite is now a 30. Swadeep is intense, and sometimes the work load is heavy, but if you can tough it out, the benefits he yields are undeniable, and in my experience, are unparalleled. I will continue working with him into my next test, and I feel much more prepared with each class I take.
We found Greg last year through our daughter's school, St. Ignatius, and we are using him again this year. We tried several tutors but our daughter really found him to be quite thorough and really easy to work with. He was very focused and prepared for each lesson. Math is not in any way her strong suit and by working with Greg she was able to understand math a lot better and has gained confidence that she can do math. Greg has also worked occasionally with our son who is very strong in math. We are using Greg this year for Math and science. I like his very even tempered manner with the children as well as the fact that he seems very vested in how well they perform in class. I especially like that he lets me know how the children are doing and I never fell like he is in any way wasting time. He is very honest and straight forward. If the children need less than a full hour then that's what he will do. Additionally, he won't do the work for them, he really tries to help the children develop the independence needed to become better students. Greg is a great tutor.
I practiced ACT material with Andrew for a couple weeks and improved my score by 4 points. He was on time for our lesson every week, and always knew how to answer my questions. During each lesson, we took a practice test together, and no matter which test we were working on (science, math, english), Andrew was very knowledgeable on the subject. He was also very understanding when I got questions wrong and worked hard to make sure I grasped every concept. Overall, my experience with Andrew was very beneficial, and I would recommend him to anyone
I hired Lauren to help my 11 year old twins with math and English homework. She came to our home and worked with them both. Her first session was just yesterday. She impressed me in that she was incredibly patient and encouraging. She went above and beyond in that we had originally hired her for one hour but once she dug in with my son it became clear this was a longer project - she ended up staying at our house for 1 1/2 hours! After the first session, Lauren followed up with me. She provided a plan of action to get my children the help they need now and how to get them to where they can work more independently. It was wonderful. In my case, homework had become a tough, with my twins fighting over my time and questioning whether or not I really know how to do their math problems (I do, but not the way they are learning them!). Honestly, this is the best money I might ever spend. Now, homework is about a peaceful chance to work with a wonderful, qualified teacher rather than fight with mom about fractions!
My daughter had one lesson so far. But we were able to meet him before the lesson to make sure that they would be able to work well together. He was extremely professional, and he was able to modify the lessons for appropriate tutoring.
I met with Steve for 5 sessions to help me get my GRE math score on track. I had taken a Kaplan course before I took the GRE for the first time, but I scored abysmally in Quantitative Reasoning-- so low that I doubt my Kaplan work had any effect upon my score. Private tutoring was my last ditch effort to improve. Steve directed me to official GRE study materials (which were much more true to test than Kaplan's) and helped me recognize question patterns and develop a testing methodology. After ten hours working together I scored a whole 14 points higher in Quantitative Reasoning, which translated to a raise of 25 percentile points! What especially impressed me about Steve's work as a tutor was his flexibility and availability. I had only three weeks between our first tutoring session and my second attempt at the GRE, and Steve accommodated my schedule beautifully: he even was willing to meet near my house. He also kept me engaged and accountable through text and email, always underlining that I could call or email him for math help in a pinch. Thanks to Steve's direction and study aids, I have more than surpassed the Quantitative score goals I had when I signed up for tutoring. Steve definitely gives you a plan (and it doesn't hurt that he's a nice guy!). I would definitely recommend him to any test taker looking to improve.
Renjie was AMAZING and so helpful!!!! Renjie worked with me for a few months studying for Quantitative GRE. He was so kind and made learning math concepts easy. I have already recommended Renjie as a tutor for friends that are about to take the test. I learned so much from Renjie, I would use him again in an instant. When I retook the test, I used Renjie's strategies and my percentile doubled over. Highly HIGHLY recommend Telos Tutors!
Ryan is extremely helpful! He knows his stuff and made sure I left each lesson with a clear understanding of core math and physics concepts. He is great at explaining the material, and he took his time answering my questions. He's also very detail oriented which is a major plus! I felt very comfortable asking him anything related to the material. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn.
Amadou has a great way of relating with children and providing them with techniques for math. He had my son learning for hours and increased his math and French grade to an A. Even my son teacher saw the growth in his math skills.
I was having a lot of problems with essay writing and math. The tutor that was given to me was able to help me with both subjects. I'm very relieved. I recommended Arbor to several of my family members who also had similar results.
