I am a beginner at age 45 taking guitar lessons from Tom. He is innovative and always keeps it interestIng. His ability to teach guitar parallel his impressive guitar playing skills. Hard to find someone who can walk the walk and talk the talk. Highly recommend to any age!
Rico was my first guitar instruction. I had no previous instruction, but Rico made learning chords, scales, and picking easy and fun! He would slow down when I needed extra time on a particular subject and be sure I understood the basics before moving on to advanced topics. Unfortunately I moved to Virginia for work, but if I were still in Chicago I would without a doubt be seeing Rico once a week. I strongly recommend Rico for anyone picking up a guitar!
I've had a fantastic experience working with Shaun. A solid teacher. He is patient, helpful, and talented. I had been wanting to take guitar lessons for a very long time and I am so happy that Shaun is my teacher. Would definitely recommend him. Moreover, the fact that he comes over to my place for the class makes my life a thousand times easier.
Guitar Chicago is the best option for music lessons in Chicago! Their instructors are patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. They do a fantastic job of working with you to achieve your individual goals. I started as a beginner with no guitar knowlege, and they helped me achieve my goals of playing multiple open mics and music events. I've also been able to meet and work with other Guitar Chicago students! They are always willing to work with my busy schedule, which is very hard to find with other schools or group lessons.
Bob was professional and engaging with our 11 year old. Highly recommended with home visits for piano instruction.
I first tried to learn guitar through a few of the popular guitar websites out there. I was able to pick up some of the basics like open chords and the pentatonic scales, but I also picked up a lot of bad habits. After a few months, I decided to take some private lessons to see what the experience would be like. I was pretty blown away by how much a learned in just 1 hour. Matt has been very effective at helping me improve my abilities in a relatively short amount of time. After just a few months of lessons, I felt confident enough to perform at a few local open mic nights. For me, the most important aspect of lessons has been learning from my mistakes. Without a professional teacher, it's hard to know what you're doing wrong, what you could be doing better, etc. Matt is an expert at all things guitar. If you take lessons with him and work hard at practicing, you're going to improve very quickly. It's that simple. I really can't say enough good things about my experience.
Tim is a dedicated teacher with a lot to offer for both beginners and advanced students alike. I have taken private lessons for a few months now and he allows me to dictate both the pace as well as the material of the lessons. He is more informal than other structured lessons I've taken, but I personally enjoy this style.
Loved the Jeff Alterio Band! Jeff is well versed in our favorite rock guitar classics, they expertly executed Stevie Ray, Stones, Eagles, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Skynard, Muddy Waters & Hooker in that jamming guitar style you remember from the greats. They do not disappoint! These guys are fun & very talented musicians. Hope to have them play again soon. I'm sure they'll just get better over time, Now I'd like hear a little more of his original work Trash Opera.
I have been taking guitar Lessons with Mike for a few years now and having started out as a complete novice I feel that Mike's way of teaching and explaining the process is excellent. He has a great understanding of the business and a unique teaching approach. The guitar is a hard instrument to master and Mike takes his time to let you understand the process in a methodical and professional manner. Great Guy and excellent value.
He is so awesome. He was able to figure out my strengths and weaknesses the instant I played the guitar. He was able to make a routine for me that day and I already feel like I'm a better guitarist before I met him. I would give him more stars if I could.
Beginner to advanced private lessons on guitar, bass, drums, piano, violin, and voice. Are you ready to learn how to play an instrument? Upbeat Music School is the largest music school in the Chinatown/South Loop area serving the community since 2000. More music students take lessons here than at any other school in the area. Take lessons at an actual professional school of music instead of someone's home! Our teachers teach a variety of styles from classical to popular music. Whether you want to learn Bach or Mumford & Sons, our teachers are happy to help you become the musician you want to be. Our faculty will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, but they will also incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. Our teachers have warm personalities and enjoy sharing their love for their instruments with you. Students enrolled in private lessons are also eligible to join our rock band classes. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: WHAT DO YOU LEARN IN YOUR MUSIC LESSONS? That question is often asked by prospective students. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals. We do not treat every student the same in terms of what and how we teach. A seven year old having their first guitar lesson will have very different needs than a fifty seven year old taking up piano for the 2nd time after having had lessons as a child. The main reason to choose Upbeat Music as your music lesson provider, is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual. If you enroll here for lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. At the first lesson your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child. WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC DO YOU TEACH? We teach all styles from rock, pop, jazz, country, blues and classical. ARE YOUR INSTRUCTORS QUALIFIED? Our teachers have received their education from prestigious institutions such as Boston University, Mannes College of Music, Roosevelt University, Oberlin Conservatory, St. Petersburg Conservatory, University of Wisconsin, Millikin University, Western Illinois University, and VanderCook College of Music. Many of our instructors have years of professional performance and teaching experience and in addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and strive to get to know each student and their parent on a personal level. We offer music lessons Monday 3- 8, Tuesday through Friday 3 - 7, Saturday & Sunday 9:30am - 3:00pm. Lessons are $30.00 per 30 minute lesson and you come once a week. We also offer 45 minute and 60 minute lessons. If you are ready to start, you have nothing to lose as we only want students who truly want to be here. Lessons are first come, first serve so contact us today to arrange your first lesson!
