James gave voice and guitar lessons to my then 14-year-old daughter and her friend for over a year. Mindful of the fact that teen-age girls are not always an ideal audience, James did an amazing job with them. Not only is he a skilled and talented musician and performer, but he related to these girls and served as a mentor to them as they developed their skills. He kept them motivated and they stuck with it because he did a great job of teaching them and keeping them engaged. Lessons culminated with several recitals at a local open-mic show, and they practiced and perfected until they were ready for their debut. These shows took place in front of large, somewhat rowdy audiences and could have been intimidating and scary to these girls, but they embraced the experience because James taught them the necessary skills to be confident musicians and performers. I strongly recommend and endorse James for both his talent as a musician and his ability to motivate and teach to a tough age group!

James worked with my daughter on guitar and some voice lessons for a little over a year. He was always very reliable and in sync with where my daughters strengths and weaknesses were. He always made sure my husband and I were in the loop with how the lessons were going and what his expectations for our daughter were. She made a lot of progress quickly and James encouraged her to step outside of her comfort zone by having her perform in front of small crowds at open mike nights at a local venue. We really appreciate all his hard work with our daughter and wish him the best in his future ventures.
