A gym Danny was previously employed at paired me up with him as my trainer. I signed up there after spending two years at a boxing gym. My goal at the time was to incorporate more strength training into my routine, but continue boxing from time to time as that is a workout I truly enjoy. Ive been training with Danny now for almost a year. Prior to working with him, I had a lot of mixed feelings about working with a Personal Trainer. I no longer feel that way. Ive done strength training, boxing, kickboxing, and circuits with Danny. He continues to help me break bad habits I developed from my previous boxing gym. Im never bored with my PT sessions, I actually look forward to them and that is very important if youre just starting off making a lifestyle change, or continuing to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I've know Nick for several years and have never been disappointed with his training sessions. his non traditional methods are a challenge but they produce results. We have done many things from Kettlebell training, obstacle courses, used indian clubs, and gymnast rings. Nick will mix it up and not bore you. He has a vast amount of knowledge and is willing to share what he knows to get the best out of anyone willing to dig deep inside themselves. Aside from my experience in the military Nick is the most intense person I have ever trained with. He is tough, does not sugar coat anything and will tell you if you're doing something wrong. If you're looking for someone to hold your hand and tell you what you want to hear then Nick is not the guy for you. If you're looking for someone to push you beyond your limits and tell it to you how it is then this is the guy. As long as you're mentally tough and not a quitter you will greatly benefit from the experience.
I should start by saying that, while I often read them, I NEVER write reviews. That being said I felt that my experience warranted one in this case. I first met coach Miguel at a place called Hybrid Martial Arts & Fitness, which I strongly recommend looking into if you have any interest in trying out or further improving your skills in Taekwondo, MMA, Muay Thai, BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) and more. The staff is quite friendly and have shown me nothing but kindness since my first day there. Additionally the vibe is not an egotistical one, a problem that definitely exists at other gyms. Regardless of your amount of experience everyone is welcome and everyone is safe. But I digress. Initially I went to Hybrid to hone my skills in the sport of boxing. I took some group classes then started training with Miguel one-on-one. Now you should know that before I even came to Hybrid I had a strong foundation in the fundamentals of boxing and have learned from men and women alike over the last 4 years who have either boxed competitively or have been practitioners of the sport for a long time. It was not until I began training with Miguel that I realized how much I still had to learn to truly become a boxer. Each and every session is well thought out. Of course the basics came into play first, there were many foot work drills along with heavy bag work, mitt work, as well as thorough concentration on head movement and sparring. What really impresses me with Miguel is that he takes time to learn about your background in other areas and will then incorporate it into your training regimen. For example, I have a background in wushu (kung fu) and a little experience in taekwondo. With that in mind, Miguel was able to take very small elements of what I had learned in those practices, specifically foot work, and tie them into my training as a boxer. This was very unique, in my opinion, because it helped me to not only better my skills but also create a certain style and become a boxer of my own. Every session was educational and challenging. Sparring is safe and controlled, never overbearing. Most importantly, Miguel has a bonafide passion for his craft. Encouraging, punctual, and dedicated are just a few of the words I would use to describe him. If you have even the slightest interest in boxing, or any combat sport, I strongly recommend signing up with coach Miguel. He's nothing short of a true martial artist. You won't be disappointed.
Mark is a amazing trainer. I have had 5 other trainers before mark and by far mark is the best! He is extremely knowledgeable , passionate and really loves what he does . Every day I see him he has a smile on his face and is so encouraging ! My goal is to shed fat, build muscle and become more flexible after 4 months with mark all have occurred! I could not be happier and highly recommend mark !
I am writing to say a few words and express my support for Bert Witte of Buffalo Grove Martial Arts. I have worked with Bert for over a year and have immensely enjoyed my time working with him. He is clearly an expert in the various martial arts which he teaches, always conducts himself in an extremely professional manner (and insists his staff does as well), and while he is always serious and respectful of the material he is training he displays the same respect to each individual in his class. I have previously taken martial arts classes at other locations but never really stayed with a class for more than a few months - to be honest I just never enjoyed it enough before, or felt as if I was getting enough out of it to keep going. I have found with Bert, however, that while his classes are serious and intense he has a way of making sure each class is a rewarding, enjoyable experience. He has a great personality, knows when and just how much to push, and is always tremendously supportive. In short he takes his classes very personally and makes sure they are conducted in the manner which he expects. Not only would I recommend Bert to anyone I have already recommended him to various family members who now also train with Bert and as well.
Larry and all of his staff are beyond wonderful! With his coaching and guidance I was able to achieve a life long dream of becoming a boxer, and not only a boxer but a Golden Gloves champion and Wisconsin State Champ. I could not have achieved this without his experience and know how. I am forever grateful for his knowledge in conditioning and strategy. The classes are fun and challenging and you will find all that you are capable of. There is not a better gym in the area if you want to get fit.
Angel is a fantastic trainer and motivational coach. He was able to motivate me to workout which wasn't always easy. Angel is committed to improving the overall health of his clients. Exercises are designed to give you the flexibility and strength you need for daily activities in your life. I really liked the fact that we never repeated a workout. The best training experience I've ever had was training at Body Impact Chicago and with Angel Santiago as my trainer.
