Laura is very proficient with coaching English as a second language. She will teach you the skills to interact with people (e.g.: in your line of business when you are in their country) who speak other languages. The skills include learning to be comfortable with the second language, and not just with the words themselves.
Re-learning a language involves hearing it spoken. I need to hear it from a person face to face, so that I can improve my ability to understand meaning, context and intent, and respond verbally. Rodrigo conducts these sessions in Spanish, and he anchors them in to real life in several ways. By talking about usage, by discussing the language and its use in different countries, or its use in various contexts, like business meetings, and by using readings of current engaging articles and focusing on verbs and tenses. No improvements to recommend to date.

Hi! I am Irina V. Nikitina, Associate Professor at the School of Interpreting and Translation of the State Linguistics University of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. Extensively working in the field of translation and interpreting, I have engaged Marina Sokolova in many translation projects as a freelance translator and editor in both Russian and English. Marina has excellent qualifications required for the job. With MA in Second Language Studies (USA) and English Language Pedagogy (UK), as well as such well-established certificates as CELTA (Cambridge English Language Teacher for Adults), Current Trends in Theory and Practice of Language Teaching, she makes a truly valuable contribution to a solid team of translators that I closely cooperate with. In every project Marina has been part of or has lead, she has demonstrated a set of qualities that are truly valuable for a professional: authentic and idiomatic language, broad outlooks, inquisitiveness, accuracy, commitment to deadlines, meticulousness, flexibility and responsiveness. Marina has deep knowledge and wide experience in the following areas: business correspondence, general documentation, academic, fiction. Her translations are always proofread and never require double check. I frequently address Marina to get her expert opinion on various linguistic matters both in Russian and English and find her approach to the job of translation and editing truly passionate.
I have been taking Spanish lessons with Cristobal for coming up on a year and French lessons for the past 6 months or so. While I am sure that there are plenty of choices for tutoring this may be the only teacher I have had that I can honestly say has far superior methodology versus all my other professors. I don't say this lightly either, I say this coming from years of experience with other teachers in various settings. Just to give a little background, I studied Spanish for 3 years in high school, then studied in Mexico at a vocational school in a completely immersed environment (living with a host family of non-English speakers) far from the reaches of most gringos in a small city called Cuernavaca. I have worked with native Spanish speakers that speak very little English for 10+ years, studied Spanish in college for 4 semesters, and even studied with Professor William Slavin for two years in weekly private sessions, a local scholar who spoke English, Spanish, French, ,Italian, Portuguese, and Hebrew. While Slavin's approach was very thorough, Cristobal's approach is practical, more natural, and aimed at speaking. Ole! Spanish School isn't just another business in the sea, it's a place with an authentic philosophy and a natural approach to language learning. To make the experience even better, his rates are super reasonable and he has a very easy going personality that creates a relaxed environment. His positive ratings exist for a reason.
I got to know of Chhavi Porwal through a friend, who had been very happy with her experience with her. I hired Chhavi to teach English as a second language to a cousin. Since she is bilingual certified, she was able to relate very well to the student, and within just 6 weeks of tutoring, his English fluency, grammar and pronunciation improved remarkably as did his confidence. Chhavi is a very dependable, experienced ESL tutor. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn/ improve their English.
Jack is open minded, truly interested in different cultures and provides a lot of language exercises. Our conversation classes were great.
I have known Ted Anderson for a number of years and have enjoyed chatting with him in Spanish. As a college professor of Spanish I appreciate Ted's great knowledge of the Spanish language and the cultures of the Spanish speaking world. From our chats about language teaching I can tell he has many wonderful ideas for helping people of all ages learn and enjoy the language.
Ashwin is a most excellent math tutor. He is thorough, patient, and has a special gift to explain math in terms everyone can understand. He is always well prepared for lessons and provides a quality educational experience. I highly recommend him!
My wife really enjoyed working her ESL classes with Leisa. She has a lot of experience and knows very well her job. I would recommend her to anyone who want to learn English.
I have only had one session with Cristobal so far. However, he seems passionate and very capable of teaching the language. His prices seems very fair and I can't wait to continue!
Carolina was very patient with me and made me feel very comfortable during our lessons.
I highly recommend Strategic Tutoring by Mrs. Mack. Financially I am struggling to make ends me but wanted to help my children succeed in school. Since my good friend also had children that needed extra help, Mrs. combined the kids into 2 small groups which gave them the support the needed and kept the hourly fee down. Instead if paying $45 an hour my girlfriend and I spent $28 an hour which was manageable. Mrs. Mack tutored my 9th grade son and my friend's 10th grade daughter together at the Geneva library. She selected reading, writing, and science topics materials that were intetesting to the kids and also pertinent to what they were studying at school. She took the time to talk to the teachers and even was involved in a conference at the school. The kids were very eager to see Mrs. Mack each week so we actually increased the time to 90 minutes a week and I am happy to say after a few sessions the classroom teachers noticed significant improvement in their reading fluency and comprehension even in biology and modern world social studies and this was reflected in their grades and attitude. My younger son in 3rd grade was tutored with my friend's 2nd grade daughter. Mrs. Mack took time journal writing back and forth with both of them secretly working on writing skills which did help to improve their essay and creative writing skills. Her positive attitude and friendly demeanor created a spark in the kids and after about a month they made significant progress in decoding words more automatically, understanding what was being read, increased rate of math computation, and improved writing structure and creativity. The kids actually understand and know how to apply various strategies that Mrs. Mack taught. She spent time with me explaining these strategies and providing me with a "strategy cheat sheet" so that we all ( teachers, parents, tutor) used a common language when guiding or reminding the kids how to solve a problem with reading, writing, or math. Mrs. Mack went beyond what I ever expected in a tutor and her experience with ESL, Special Education, Behavior Disordered, and Gifted students was apparent wben she took initiative to set up some enrichment activites for my 5th grader on her own time!
We found Ms Pérez through a friend, as our kids wanted to advance their Spanish level. During the first lesson she arrived promptly and was curtious toward the whole family. My children can not stop thanking me for hiring her, as they have improved radically. I also believe that Ms Pérez is originally from Europe and can teach to a high standard of English. Highly recommended.
Julianne was wonderful with my daughter! We look forward to continuing with her singing lessons.
I'm so happy to have the opportunity to give Elianne praise for her work. She helped our daughter gain confidence in Spanish, as well as understand and excel in her classwork. Elianne made Anna comfortable and her style of teaching truly helped her become a better learner. Thank you Elianne! We hope to work with you in the Fall! :)

OUR MISSION To enrich the American education system, helping children discover the world through language, culture, and connections. OUR VISION Language Adventures will change the way children see our multilingual world by fostering an early love and curiosity for other languages and cultures through innovative and engaging education methods. OUR TEAM Language Adventures teachers all have degrees in education, language, or both. They speak Spanish natively and have extensive experience in the classroom with children of all ages. Our curriculum team uses only the most recent research in early childhood education and language acquisition, as well as their many years of experience in full-immersion classroom settings. Preschool Adventure classes For children ages three through five, we capitalize on their increased desire for independence. At this age, children are able to learn through social play. This is why Preschool Adventure classes focus on role-play activities, competitions, and collaborative projects. Our small class sizes allow our native-Spanish-speaking teachers to engage the group as a whole, as well as address the individual needs of each child through one-on-one interaction. Elementary Adventure classes Kids ages five to eight still love being silly, but they also crave guidance in reading and writing as well as instructions for more complex games and puzzles. For this age group, we strike the perfect balance between academic challenges and getting kids to giggle, all while immersing them in the Spanish language. Preteen Adventure classes As children approach the end of the “window of opportunity” for acquiring a language naturally, they require a slightly more focused method of language instruction. In these classes, we tackle the written language and a wide variety of vocabulary and grammar structures without ever resorting to instruction in English or rote memorization. Our Private Spanish Classes Private classes are a great way to ensure that your child is achieving their specific goals with a high level of attention and interaction from a native speaker at the most convenient location for you. My rates are as follows: - $40/hr. at a student's home within 10 miles of Wood Dale, IL - $20/hr. at my studio in Wood Dale - $15/30-minute lesson via Skype I am a guitar teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching all different styles of music, including blues, folk, acoustic, funk, ska, rock, metal, melodic, country, classical, punk, alternative, and various other melodies. I have played concerts all over the state of Illinois, and I have taught many students throughout the years. I teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced players. I am very passionate at what I do, and I will guide you through the proper steps in becoming a great guitar player. Playing music takes a lot of time and patience as well as a lot of practice playing by yourself and in front of people. I am very relaxed and motivated to help my students learn, and I will guide you through everything. I would prefer that students bring their own guitars, so that you would be more comfortable playing their own instrument. If you can't or do not have one, I have guitars here that you may use but during our sessions only. Check out my video. With a lot of practice and a lot of studying, I can show you how to play like a pro and have fun! Lesson Details In my curriculum, students will start off by learning the basics of the guitar, knowing the parts and accessories and so forth. Then, we will move on to tuning and perfect pitch. As we move on, students will learn how to build and maintain a rhythm. Learning how to play chords is essential, and we will be going through chord progressions and how to recognize and memorize the various chords. Furthermore, I will be showing students how to read tabs and write music. I will be showing students the different types of scales there as well as the keys that they are in for those who want to become soloists. I will also be teaching different techniques that are incorporated with tapping on the fretboard as well as various other techniques. All of these lessons will be taught in our private sessions, and each student will receive homework assignments, so that he/she can go home and practice what he/she has learned. I will be having tests later on, in which I would ask you to play one of your favorite songs. With enough time spent practicing, you can become a master of your instrument. Studio Equipment Basement studio: amps, guitars, wah pedals, music stands, guitar picks, and music sheets. Travel Equipment I have an amp, wires, picks, guitars, gig bag, case, music sheets, picks, and music stands.
