Bertina was my daughter’s ACT Prep Tutor last semester. Bertina gave her the confidence and encouragement I was looking for. She was always positive; and it was definitely a team effort between them. She was very flexible with our study sessions and kept me in the loop about my daughter’s progress. She is a very kind and polite person and would be wonderful for any age group.

Laura was a great tutor for my brother during his last minute ACT prep! She gave him some very helpful strategies and helped him to maximize his testing time. He went up a point and if I were to do it again, I would certainly hire Laura earlier! Would highly recommend!

I came across Steve Byer in my pursuit to find the perfect GRE prep course. I spent 10 hours working with Steve and it was the best decision I made. Not only were Steve’s services a fraction of the cost of big name companies like Kaplan, Manhattan Prep, Princeton Review, etc. But also, I benefitted from the one-on-one nature of Steve's tutoring service. I am NOT a confident test taker, and especially when it comes to standardized tests. Steve was instrumental in helping to ease some of the anxiety I had and also tailored our program to focus on the areas in which I needed the most work. Steve is extremely qualified and was never judgemental regarding any questions or concerns I had. When I first started working with Steve, my practice test scores were in the 140s. I saw incredible improvement over the course of the next 4 weeks. Thanks to Steve, when I sat for the actual test, I received the highest scores of any practice test I took during my time working with Steve. I couldn't be happier with the time and dedication Steve put forth on my behalf. I am ecstatic with my scores and unbelievably grateful that I will not need to take the GRE for a second time. Thank you, Steve!! Finally, I want to emphasize how passionate Steve is toward his students. He was 100% available to me outside of scheduled tutoring hours and was more than willing to answer questions and look over work during his free time. There were many times in which he checked in with me to see how I was progressing. This dedication would not occur with a larger company like Kaplan or Princeton Review. I highly recommend Steve to anyone who is seeking help for standardized tests and/or tutoring in any academic areas. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Steve!! -Kelly B. Thank you so much Ramona! I would not have managed statistic classes without your help. Her private math classes helped me graduate from school and even from university. I can truly recommend working with Ramona. She is the best help I could have ever imagine and her classes are absolutely worth the money. I also recommended her classes to a few friends and they all gave positive feedback. Please let me know if you need more detailed information.

We hired Michael to tutor our son, a freshman, in honors math. Our son was very comfortable with Michael's teaching style and responded very well to the tutoring. Michael is very approachable and provided our son with very pragmatic advice and tools to assist him in overcoming his struggles and adjustment to high school math. I highly recommend Michael, particularly for high school level students.

Karin joined Insight Education only a few weeks before our SAT/ACT Test Prep Intensive Boot Camps were about to start. But she just came in took a test, excelled at it, got the curriculum and conquered the class! We really didn't have to worry about anything with her in the classroom. She would always be prepared with the daily class agenda and assignments and knew exactly what she wanted from her students on each class day- for a class as well as one-on-one tutoring. I don't think i ever remember her fumbling on a grammar concept or not being able to correctly explain anything related to SAT/ACT English to the students. The feedback we got from students and parents was phenomenal- they loved her pedagogy! Excellent score improvements across students on our weekly diagnostic tests.

Mr. Glen is the best tutor in the world. He worked with my son and daughter in math and ACT Prep. He supported my daughter in Geometry, Calculus. Algebra II / Trigonometry, Calculus AB and ACT Prep. He supported my son in the same areas plus Algebra. It's is very important to him that your children fully understands the concepts and are not simply working problems by memorizing steps. He truly cares about your children performing at the highest level. There were times if he didn't finish something with them during the hour, he would call the house to follow up. He always keeps my husband and I posted on their progress and he let's them know directly how well they are doing. He really allowed my husband and I to have peace of mind by helping to prepare our kids academically. He is very professional and works with us to accommodate busy schedules by having hours later in the evening. Both my sone and daughter respected Mr Glen and enjoyed what he helped them accomplish. We thank God that Mr Glen is a part of our village.

Andy is a truly gifted tutor! He helped my 12th grader in AP Physics turn her failing grades into A work! He completely demystified the work and helped grow her confidence! I will be using him now with my youngest daughter in Algebra and look forward to the same results. I am sure he will continue helping my oldest in college as well. Thank you Andy you are a life saver!

My daughter received excellent score of 780(scale of 800) on New SAT-Math thanks to Mr. Patel's expertise. Her previous score was 610. We were struggling to find the teacher for New SAT. She is not fond of word problems and gets frustrated. But Mr. Patel was able to make concepts much simpler and easier to understand. We also signed up for his College Consulting Service, where his team of professional coaches work with us one on one at a fraction of the cost. We are very satisfied and definitely refer Mr. Patel to my friends and family. Thanks Mr. Patel for your support.

After completing the ACT prep course at Learning Ascent, my son got a composite score of 30. English: 32, Math: 33, Reading: 29, and Science: 26. He took the writing portion too, but we do not have results for that yet. Prior to tutoring, his score on a practice ACT test was a 26. The tutors Sean worked with helped him improve his scores. Overall, very happy with his results!

I could not have been happier with the results from using More Than S.A.T. in preparation for the ACT. While my older children had used other prep courses for the ACT with satisfactory results, I decided to make a change for my youngest child. More Than S.A.T. had a more unique approach to studying for the ACT. More Than S.A.T’s academic coach was able to tailor a study program specific to my son’s strengths and weaknesses. What’s more, the consultant’s suggestions as to how to manage the test, while taking it, were very beneficial. The result: a 6 point increase. Thank you, More Than S.A.T.!

Charlie tutored my son for the ACT and did an exceptional job. He worked with him both on general test taking skills as well as the specific areas where he needed the most help. Charlie is great at working with boys who do not have the longest attention span, as well as those who may not feel they "need" tutoring. He really caters his tutoring style to what he believes will work best for that student. Charlie is also very flexible and was able to work in tutoring time around my son's other activities. After working with Charlie, my son felt much more confident in his ability to do well on the test and improved his scores significantly in all areas. We will be using him again for my daughter in a couple of years.

Bonnie Dane has been a stellar English tutor for our high school son. She has been working with him since he was a sophomore and throughout his junior year. She helped with ACT prep, vocabulary development, composition, style, grammar, pertinent English homework when necessary, essays etc. Bonnie always used a professional approach to accomplish these objectives, coupled with humor, sensitivity, individualized her approach to our son's learning style and helped increase his critical thinking ability. She is reliable and trustworthy. Bonnie has helped our son have As in English and Speech. We are most grateful that we found Bonnie. Our son has really come to appreciate his sessions with Ms Dane. We highly recommend Bonnie for other students and trust she will make a big difference in their learning experience.

How do I prepare for the GMAT?

If you’re thinking of enrolling in graduate school to earn your MBA, it’s time to start thinking about preparing for the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Working with a GMAT tutor is for many people a wise investment to help you strengthen the academic areas you may be weak in and improving your overall test score. A GMAT prep tutor should teach you not only the kind of information you need to know for the test, but the best test-taking strategies. The GMAT tests you on four categories: quantitative, verbal, integrated reasoning, and an analytical writing assessment. Cramming is probably not going to give you good results for this standardized test; give yourself between two and six months to prepare, focusing on your most challenging areas first. Successful GMAT prep means planning ahead and studying thoroughly. Those students who reported studying under 75 hours were more likely to score 400 or lower on the test, while students who studied 121 hours or more were more likely to score 700 or higher on the test. Hiring a GMAT prep tutor can range in price from under $50 to over $200 per hour.

How long does it take to prepare for the GMAT?

Pros recommend planning to spend two to six months for GMAT prep. The test itself is only 3.5 hours long, but your score will have a major effect on what schools grant you admission. If you’d like to be considered for one of the top-tier schools, it’s recommended to score at least a 700. Your goals for your MBA can help drive your GMAT prep. GMAT tutors will guide your study plan and help analyze your strengths and weaknesses. GMAT tutors also offer professional guidance and insights on strategic GMAT test-taking. Avail yourself of free GMAT prep software that provides sample test questions for you to practice. The creators of the GMAT recommend creating a structured study plan detailing when you will study each day and what topics you will study during each session. Take into account what style of learning works best for you (solo study, one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, study groups, prep courses) and proceed accordingly. The test is made up of these four categories, each with an allotted time:

        • Analytical writing assessment: 1 topic, 30 minutes.
        • Integrated reasoning: 12 questions, 30 minutes.
        • Quantitative: 37 questions, 75 minutes.
        • Verbal: 41 questions: 75 minutes.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
