There is no question that Swadeep was critical not only in raising my GMAT and GRE score, but more importantly changing the way I THOUGHT about math. Over 10 days, my GMAT score increased from ~650 to 750, and it was not possible without Swadeep. We went over hundreds of problems together, and he could handle every single one in an elegant, easy-to-understand, and simple manner. Eventually, I started to see the themes he was highlighting with the different types of problems, and also started to enjoy mathematics more. Swadeep was rigorous and pushed me to the standard of preparation I needed to succeed. More importantly, we did not focus on the results, but rather the process, and I think that was the most important aspect of our preparation. Swadeep is one of the best tutors I have ever had in my life. I highly recommend him to anyone, especially for mathematics, and would be glad to talk to you if you have any questions.

It's crucial for the student (especially teenagers) to connect with the tutorer and I can say without hesitation Wendi does? Not only does Wendi instruct on content, she encourages and teaches strategies. My son's pretest score for the ACT was 19 and after only four weeks of prep improved to 25. Wendi is truly a blessing to our family!

My daughter has really benefited from her tutoring with Greg. Her grades have dramatically increased and I have found that she is much more sure of herself in her math capabilities. My only regret is that she hasn't been seeing Greg all year! She attends Jones College Prep, and his location is just perfect for her to walk to after school. I am so happy to have found him and am sure that we will use him in the future also!

Steve was a terrific tutor and I really enjoyed working with him. I came to him very last minute for GRE prep and he was able to find time to meet with me, and tailor his instructions to accommodate my limited time frame. He was particularly effective with the Writing section, helping me understand the nuanced insight the essays require, in my own way. He also helped put together an adaptable, understandable technique that I was able to apply to much of the Verbal Reasoning section. I was very pleased with the instruction, as well as my score.

Renjie and I worked together over the course of two months in preparation for a GRE test. We had long sessions (3 hours) each time, but Renjie was focused and prepared and all the breaks we took were on my account. I took two Statistics courses in university, but aside from this hadn't taken any math classes since high school, so I focused all of my hours with Renjie in math. He has all of the hard skills that a good teacher/tutor needs: he has a deep knowledge of math and used repertoire of teaching strategies to help me learn. The teaching and learning strategies Renjie shared with me in math make it so I'm confident in saying I know he has the same skills for verbal reasoning in the GRE (specially) or vocabulary more generally. More than this, Renjie is kind, understanding, friendly, and easy to connect with. Both Renjie and I had traveled and worked abroad for a number of years and so it was fun to share stories in between problem solving. I got accepted into my graduate program of choice, got a full scholarship and a stipend to be a Graduate Teaching Assistance. It was a pleasure working with Renjie and I would recommend him to any who have an interest in improving their scores on a variety on tests, or to improve their performance in school at all levels.

Constance (one of MyGuru's Senior Tutors, and a PhD student at Northwestern University) was great. Cody (my son, who was receiving ACT Prep tutoring) really enjoyed her, his words were "She is a really good teacher."

Best value for your money!! The Tutors are qualified, the materials and the Test Prep books are top notch. And best of all the Director was with us every step of the way. Calling us and making sure that we were making progress as anticipated. I give them the best points for staying on top of everything to make sure that my child was successful in school.

After completing the ACT prep course at Learning Ascent, my son got a composite score of 30. English: 32, Math: 33, Reading: 29, and Science: 26. He took the writing portion too, but we do not have results for that yet. Prior to tutoring, his score on a practice ACT test was a 26. The tutors Sean worked with helped him improve his scores. Overall, very happy with his results!

I used Matt as a tutor for my college level algebra class. I've always struggled with math and Matt was very patient with me even when I had a hard time understanding the material. I'm the type of person who has a hard time asking others for help and Matt didn't make me feel dumb about not knowing the answer. I wish I would've had a tutor in high school because I've really learned a lot and my grade truly reflects the outstanding tutoring I received from Matt. I am so thankful for the help from Matt and I really liked that his schedule was open enough for me to meet at different times when I needed access with homework help or test prep. If you are thinking about hiring a tutor Matt is your guy- you won't be sorry!

I was looking for a tutor who could help me primarily prepare for the verbal and writing portions of the General GRE, and Annie was a very good fit. She had a variety of innovative and effective methods to help me learn vocabulary, and she helped me develop an approach for the writing sections. Annie was also flexible with scheduling which was helpful and started out each session by asking what I wanted to prioritize.

The ACT Test Prep Tutor was excellent. They brought materials, tests and flash cards and even created a plan for how they were going to get my daughter ready for the Test. My daughters score jumped 4 points with their help!

About

Expect results. I am a Kaplan-trained whiz at test prep, and have enjoyed seeing my many students attain unparalleled results on the GMAT, GRE, SAT, ACT, and PSAT. After receiving my BA, I taught for the Center for English as a Second Language at the University of Oklahoma. Recently, I completed my MA at the University of Southern California, and was honored to serve as a fellow and teaching assistant in the Department of Comparative Literature there. My strengths as a teacher lay in my ability to present material in many different ways to a variety of students. I am personable, tending to easily establish a rapport with my students, and enjoy teaching in a way that stimulates a student's furthered interest and expertise in the subject matter.

About

I am very passionate about education. I have learned many lessons on the long road to attending Georgetown University. The road included many struggles. I had to work very hard. I was fortunate to have tutors and mentors who guided me through those struggles. I am very passionate about now helping students the way people previously helped me. In my tutoring, I work hard to create practice problems and take home materials or study-guides to help my students further master the material. Along with my tutoring experience, I also have additional experience working with kids and teens in other roles. For 4+ years, I served on the Des Plaines Library's Teen Advisory Board.I also was a volunteer in in the library's Children's Summer Reading Program in 2012 and 2013. I also have extensive experience working with children in hospitals and volunteers of all ages in my role in the nonprofit charity Cards for Hospitalized Kids (CFHK). My work in CFHK has taught me valuable communication, organizational and problem solving skills. I believe these experiences all enhance my ability to be an effective tutor. I believe tutoring is an opportunity not just improve a student's skills in a particular subject but also to help a student build strong academic skills that will help them overall. (i.e: organizational, studying, etc.)
