My gutters are clean and flowing nicely after a rain storm. All debri was removed and property left clean. I was sent photos of all of the gutters after the cleaning. I will definitely use them again and will recommend them to friends. So nice to find a quality businessman.

I initially hired Jason for gutter cleaning. There was a mixup in the scheduling and he didn't come when I expected him, but he was very apologetic and offered to do the work at a reduced price, which I accepted. In the process of cleaning the gutters he noticed a number of issues with them, which I subsequently hired him to repair. The work was done professionally, with plenty of documentation. I plan to use Jason for future projects.

They did an outstanding job! They were on time and professional through the entire process. They did my windows inside and out and cleaned the gutters as well. My house had been vacant for six years prior to our moving in and the gutters were clogged. Sean showed us before and after pictures and the outcome was amazing. I'd definitely hire them again.

Sam and his crew were courteous and professional and did solid work to fix my gutters, clear my roof of snow, and repair my roof leak. They were very careful in the home as well to take off shoes and not make any mess, which is very much appreciated. They also gave a warranty on their work for 6 months, which is very comforting in the event problems arise again. Will call them again in the Spring to get some tuckpointing and roof repair work done

Needed oversize gutters, new flat roof on an addition, metal awning pushed out due to a dent, and fascia nailed down. Mike, the owner, came out for an estimate. Tony is employed by Mike and did an excellent job! He was thorough, persevered in 90 degree weather, cleaned up all around him to my liking. All in all, Quality Home Remodelers were excellent to have for the job we needed done. I will call on them again in the future and I will recommend them to my friends! Thank you, Mike and Tony!!!

As a business owner I have had some problems with roofers in the past, so when I hired Shield I was a little nervous and worried that they might not stop the leak or honor the warranty but it was a emergency so i took the chance. Well its been almost a year and i am very pleased with the work, I had some water come in right after a big storm and I called them in to honor the warranty they got here within a hour and when they checked the roof the problem was not the roof but the gutter that i had someone else install. They fixed the gutter and I never had a problem after that. If I ever need any other work done I will give them a call. Thank You

Gutters/downspouts look great, Thanks for a job well done. Appreciate the repair of damaged fascia (from a different leaf guard installer). Really love the hinged downspout extensions, makes it a lot easier to work on the flower beds. Again thanks for a job well done. All personnel professional and courteous

So far I have hired General Maintenance to clean my carpets, my gutters and my patio. I will probably be giving them a call soon to do my ducts too. Sometimes it's one guy, other times it's two. Each time has been a pleasant and professional experience, however. Would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why is it important to clean your gutters?

Rain gutters, those easily-forgotten trenches that hang off the edge of your roof, protect your roof, walls and foundation from excess rainwater. When they get clogged with leaves, sticks and other wind-blown debris, they can no longer direct water away from your walls and foundation, and may become homes for pests and insects. They also become heavy enough to pull away from the house, preventing proper rainwater drainage and spoiling the appearance of your home. Experts recommend inspecting and cleaning your gutters twice a year, once in spring and once in fall, as part of your regular landscaping schedule. Gutter cleaning and maintenance is a fairly easy DIY job for some homeowners, especially on one-story homes. However, professional gutter cleaners have ladders tall enough to safely reach rain gutters, as well as the necessary tools to clean out the downspouts. Most gutter cleaning professionals can also make any necessary quick repairs.

How much does it cost to have gutters cleaned?

Professional gutter cleaning and maintenance should be done once or twice a year to remove debris and check for damage to the roof and gutter. The national average cost for rain gutter cleaners ranges from $100 to $130. A number of factors affect the costs, including the combined length of the gutters, the size of the house, the location of the gutters, and any risks posed to the professional cleaner. Some companies based their cost estimates on the linear square footage of the gutters; for example, 200 linear square feet of gutters on a standard, single-story ranch-style home costs an average of $125 to clean. The cost goes up for second- and third-story gutters and those in hard-to-reach places, like a roof with an unusually steep pitch. Expect to pay at least $100 more than standard prices if cleaning your home’s gutters requires extra safety precautions. Because spring and fall are gutter cleaners’ busiest seasons, some gutter cleaning and maintenance companies offer discounts during summer and winter months.

How often do you need to clean your gutters?

Gutter cleaning and maintenance is an important part of keeping up a home. Not only are clogged gutters unsightly, they can also lead to water damage in the house’s walls and roof. The best way to prevent that is to clean your gutters at least twice a year — experts recommend making it part of your spring cleaning and fall landscaping schedules. In the fall, trees lose their leaves and, in the spring, release seedpods and flower petals, all of which tend to end up in rain gutters. It’s a good idea to also have a professional gutter cleaner clear out your downspouts, too; clogged downspouts can make gutters backup and overflow.
