FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly doing research about different voice types and updated research that is being done in the vocal music world. I read lots of methodology books and often talk with other accomplished musicians and teachers. I also perform regularly which keeps my voice "in shape" but also increases the experience I have to pass on to my students.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Do your research! Ask questions! Seeing a private music teacher is a very personal experience. You have to make sure that your teacher knows how to teach your voice and that you are able to work well with your teacher! I always recommend "getting to know" your teacher and working with them for at least a couple of months to know whether or not you work well together. Bios and youtube videos cannot always provide you with that know-how!
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I want my customers to know that all kinds of singing (not just opera) require extreme focus and mastery of technical singing. This is because your instrument is your BODY. If you don't keep your body healthy, it will start to give out on you. If you don't stretch before you exercise, you run the risk of injury. The same is true of your voice! If you do not learn how to use it effectively and healthfully, you risk damage that often cannot be reversed.
