About

I've been teaching swim lessons for 3 years to both kids and adults. I know how to teach to all levels and know the Red Cross program because that's how I learned to teach. I'm great with kids and love working with them! I was a competitive swimmer for 12 years and swam for 2 years at Ball State University.

About

I have been teaching swim lessons to children for 15 years. I am a certified WSI (Water Safety Instructor) through the American Red Cross. I also hold up-to-date certifications for CPR, lifeguarding, and first aid care. I have taught both private and public (where the class size is around 8-12 kids) swim lessons. This year, I co-directed a swim program that provided lessons to hundreds of children. My lessons can be private or semi-private if you are interested in having multiple children participate during the same lesson. I have worked with children from 18 months to 16 years old. My private lessons are approximately 30 minutes long. Depending on your needs, the child's age, and lesson frequency, we can discuss the best length for your child. I will provide you with paper (from the Red Cross) to show you how your child has progressed. While I have only worked with children, I am willing to work with interested adults. Also, please note: I am a swim instructor, not a coach. While I do work on stroke development and technique improvement by breaking down the strokes with the older kids, I am not certified to teach/coach for competitive swimming. Please contact me for any further questions you may have. I do give discounts for "semi-private" lessons.

Kim taught me how to swim with thoughtful technique. When I didn't understand something she was explaining, she tried different approaches until it clicked for me. I have witnessed her work with both children and adults and a direct/firm, yet nurturing way. Kim is always on time, if not early. She's fantastic!

Tom is awesome. He's very professional and attentive. I love how he individualized my swim lessons; he didn't just go off a paper with a list of swim exercises and try to rush through them. He observed how well I responded to a swim exercise, and didn't mind going over it until I grasped it. After just 2 lessons, I am able to swim. I'm an adult by the way so for those of you that feel you're too old to learn, you're not. Tom was very patient and encouraging, this allowed me to become relaxed in the water. I highly recommend him!

Another GREAT bootcamp class this evening at IPA. We worked out at 7 different stations, being encouraged at each station by Trainer's Tyler Kiel and Dan Kidd. They both push you to your fullest potential, however don't make you feel bad if you need to stop and take a breath! Thanks to Tyler and Dan for a fun evening!

For many years I ran to help maintain/lose weight. In 2011 I was diagnosed with several knee issues, some not able to be corrected by surgery. I went through 3 mos. of therapy just to walk again without pain. For three years I didn't do any exercise at all, frustrated that I couldn't run. I realized that I needed to do something since I was gaining weight and starting to develop obesity related health issues. Kris has been my personal trainer since January, 2014. He takes great interest in learning and understanding my medical problems, and helped me to design a program without causing additional strain on my knee. I have successfully been able to increase my strength, stamina, and balance while reducing my weight and losing inches. I’ve increased my range of motion dramatically in my hip flexors. I’ve done conditioning and weight training I never thought I could do without additional knee pain. But more importantly, my health issues are being managed without medication. Kris really cares for his clients. We are still working to reach long term goals and he's willing to go to extra lengths to care for his clients. I’m grateful Kris has been my trainer. He listens to me, constantly checking to see how I’m doing during the workout, and plans the workouts according to my ability, pushing me to achieve great results. He’s also supported me by providing nutritional information, and respects my wishes in what I view as a healthy approach for me. His encouragement and patience during workouts and throughout the week have been the support I’ve needed to help me achieve my goals. Thanks Kris for believing in me and helping me achieve great results. Over 40lbs lost!!

Eric was prompt to respond to my initial search and to subsequent emails. This was a huge part of my decision along with the fact that his facilities had exactly what I was looking for. I am looking forward to working with him.
