The girls were able to help me out over Thanksgiving with less than a week's notice! They set up a time for an intro to meet me/my pet, go through an initial checklist and questions/requests, and then they texted me an update each day!

Jayme was the perfect dog sitter/house sitter for me and my dog, Jadie. My husband and I were both going to be out of town for 6 days, and we needed someone to come over and stay with our dog every night. Jayme completely dedicated herself to Jadie. She spent every day and every night with Jadie, walking her, playing with her, feeding her and spoiling her. Jayme sent me cute photo collages of Jadie multiple times a day, and Jadie looked so happy. We couldn't have asked for a better person to care for our dog and our condo while we were away. We will definitely be using Jayme again in the future.

My offered services for pet sitting include feeding, grooming, walking, house-sitting, and attending to any special medical needs your pet has. It doesn't matter where you live because I come to you. I think it's important for your pet to remain at home while you are away so it keeps with its usual daily routine. For any pet services you need, just call/text or e-mail me to discuss how I can help!

About

I am Dennis, and I work alone. I love animals. I enjoy spending time caring for animals (specifically dogs), and I am a loving and caring person. I will tolerate cats but preferably, I work with dogs. It's not that I have anything against cats, but I find them as a pet peeve of mine. I will work with them, but like I said before, I prefer dogs. I will work with all dogs as long as they are not violent and are trained to be nice and kind. Thank you!

About

I have a schnauzer and a three-legged Chihuahua, and I absolutely adore them. My schnauzer always comes to me whenever I feel sad, and he is probably my best friend. I have done babysitting for children, but I have never done any pet sitting other than with my own pets. However, taking care of animals would be my dream job because it would not feel like a job at all. For me walking my dog, taking care of him, and playing with him is not a chore. Also, I am open to taking care of all kinds of animals. If you are interested in having a responsible and loving person help with you pets, please contact me!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
