Right on time. Had all necessary tools, worked quickly and efficiently. He completed this job in a much more efficient way than the original garage installers. By that I mean I had wires hanging from my ceiling from the original install. Ronald not only completed this job by himself, but there are no more dangling wires. He far surpassed by expectations and I give him the highest recommendations without a second thought!! If you're looking for a garage door specialist, please do not hesitate and contact Ronald. You will be glad that you Did! Thanks, Ronald!!! Job well done!!

Hamed was wonderful to work with. He was a responsive, professional, and generally just a nice guy! I received more and less expensive quotes, but I felt for the value of product and customer service, Hamed/Garage Masters were the best to go with. They finished within a week from first contact to completion. Great warranty, too. Thanks!

After meeting with four different general contractors, Mr. Marvin Guzman with Baiza Construction, Inc showed his best attitude to take part on a serious complete home improvement we had for our 1956 home. He didn't only provided a quick estimate, But time frame to complete and over all his price. My project was based on a full 2 bathrooms remodeling, plaster walls removal/replacement, insulation, plumbing, electrical, kitchen remodeling and about 2500 square foot of hardwood floor installation. My best recommendation to future hires and families of his great quality work. My contract worth 86k were put on the best hands.

Renaissance did an amazing job on my den. I originally hired them to mount a tv and ended up having him paint 2 rooms as well. They were on time, very responsive and knowledgeable. I had another contractor install a cable outlet and electrical outlet above my fireplace to make the mounting of my tv easy. However that contractor didn't do an efficient job and when Antonio mounted the tv both outlets were showing. It is very important to me that only the tv be visible after mounting. Antonio assured me that he would not only hide the cable box and cords but would fix the other contractors work as well. I was able to relax and everything was taken care of to my specifications. They went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met and I was satisfied with the job. I would recommend them as well as use them again for other home improvement projects.

Dominik is a nice guy. His pricing was better than most and the quality of work was good. The project dragged longer that initially estimated but the main issue I had with Dominik was that he was hard to get a hold. As far as schedule goes he overpromised and under delivered. This was a complete kitchen remodeling project that required different set of skills. In the end everything turned out fine and the kitchen looks great. I would recommend him based on the price and my belief that most likely I will have the same scheduling issues with most good contractors that don't brake the bank.

Best decision this week! Holt and his dad came immediately (hours after reaching out), asked quite a few questions before getting there to ensure they had what they needed, quickly assessed the problem and fixed within about 2 hours! They were personable, kind and very knowledgeable... even went to grab additional items that they needed (and didn’t charge me a crazy price to do it!). I hope I won’t have to use a garage company in the near future, but when I do, I’m definitely calling these guys!

If you’re in need of a reliable, honest and get-it-done general contractor for your home remodeling needs, Al and his crew are the GO TO GUYS! We recently had a rather large basement remodel project where we took an unfinished space (approx.. 900 sq. feet) to a home office/ dental laboratory finish. There were a lot of moving parts involved – all new electrical/ mechanical/ plumbing; installation of egress & small sliding window(s), walk-out door w/ retaining walls and pavement; added bathroom & work/equipment room. Al took the design plans from a paper to presence, and really worked with us to stay on time and on budget. From the initial consultation, he took his time to go over details of the project and provide us with a written proposal on the spot. What was also appreciated was that he used upgraded materials rather than standard builder supplies, which really makes a huge difference in appearance! Al and his guys are meticulous, detailed & very clean – at the end of each work day, the floors were always swept & materials put away. Another consideration for us was trust since my husband & I weren’t home during the day. I can say with complete confidence that you can trust Premier Home Services to do their job, in your home without supervision. We will definitely use them again for our next home project. Thanks Al!

Rodney Mathis with Garage Door Solutions was great. He did an excellent job and discussed my options with our old garage door so I could make an educated decision. I would have wasted money on an old garage door (springs, motor service and pulleys) and probably not been too happy after another year of the old door. So I got Rodney to replace the old garage door as well as install a 2nd garage door while he was there. He told me what to expect and he was right on what he was going to do for me. I appreciate the quick response and the honesty for the work being done. I'd highly recommend Rodney to anyone needing repair work or a new install. Thanks Rodney ! ! !

To quote George Steinbrenner about George on Seinfeld, "Hire This Man". Matt is the best contractor we have worked with. We had a very ugly white tile kitchen floor and Matt came in to provide an estimate. We bought the supplies, which he picked up for us, and he quoted us the labor cost, which was extremely reasonable for 6 days of work. Matt showed up on time each day, even coming over on a Sunday for a few hours. He was very transparent in what he was going to be completing each day and met the objective each time. He is very friendly (even stopping to pet our dogs who bothered him a few times) and personable. He even told us that we still had a few extra items left over and returned them to the store for to get us a refund. I feel like most contractors wouldn't tell you if you have left over supplies, but not him! When he was done with the project, he cleaned up everything, wiping down anything that may have gotten dirty as a result. He is very careful, laying out plastic protectors so dust didn't settle on our counter tops. I normally don't shell out 5 star reviews, but Matt is very deserving. He will be our go to when we get the bathroom floors redone in the near future!

Excellent Service! We received same-day service. Not only was the technician able to immediately diagnose the problem, he had the parts needed to repair it same day. He thoroughly explained the problem to my husband and even provided some added pointers and information at the end of the job. Quick and reliable service! We obviously hope not to need the services any time in the near future, but if and when we do, we will definitely be calling on Eagle Locksmith & Garage Door Services!

Michael and Rosen have done excellent work for me for more than 15 years. They gutted and finished my master and guest bathrooms; gutted and fully remodeled my basement, including expanding the half bath there to a full bath and installing a gas fireplace; they built new stairway access to my basement; built an attached shed/garage; built a large composite deck; and finally, built our long planned addition that included a new entryway and bumped out the entire back of our house, expanding our dining room space and fully remodeling an expanded kitchen space. Milano Construction has been in business for a long time. They are a small operation, but can do anything from fix a plugged pipe to building additions. They are trustworthy, honest to a fault, and extremely fair with their pricing. They are a customer-oriented operation that can provide turn key service if you don’t want to get involved in the nitty gritty or work with you every step of the way in a truly custom way. I work from home so had the opportunity to be involved in every aspect of my projects and have learned plenty from watching over their shoulders and “helping” out along the way. These two are patient and want you to be satisfied with the outcome of the job. They don’t cut corners and do it right every time. I recommend Michael and Rosen for any handyman or remodeling work you may need. You’ll be hard pressed to find a comparably priced, dependable team that does the kind of quality work that they do. Attached are photos of our finished kitchen/dining room space, so you can get a sense for their work product.

We were looking for new flooring to be installed in our entry and kitchen. Andre came out with an estimate and listened to our ideas about taking the kitchen reno just a little bit further. We wanted to get rid of the large Florescent light in the kitchen. Andre suggested he could install in-ceiling lights. We were on a tight schedule to get this done and Andre made sure he scheduled us for the week that we requested. He and his team did a great job getting our lights installed, our floors installed, and making sure that everything was back in place before they finished. Andre and Amilcarr are very personable and friendly, making sure we understood what they were doing on each step of the installation. They did a fabulous job and we're planning our next step in renovation to be suing Traylor Design & Construction as our go-to contractors.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you fix a broken garage door?

Garage door problems don’t have to mean the end of the world. Garage door repair is typically a one-day process and can be done for only a few hundred dollars. Common garage door repair requests include fixing slow or erratic garage doors, addressing strange sounds coming from the garage door or motor, fixing cosmetic damage such as dents or scrapes, repairing broken doors that are stuck open or closed, and troubleshooting inoperable doors.

The two main garage door operating mechanisms are sectional roll-ups or tilt-ups. Garage door repair services can fix single-car, double-car or RV-height doors. Your garage door may be made of wood, steel, aluminum, masonite, vinyl, fiberglass or another material. The type of garage door repair you need really depends on the type of garage door you have and the issue at hand. Garage door repair pros often charge a flat service call fee to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate. For customers who choose to have the repair done, the service call fee may be applied to the first hour of labor (including time to make the diagnosis). If your garage door is under warranty, the repair may be free of charge.

How much does it cost to install a new garage door opener?

Your new garage door opener cost will vary based on the model you purchase and how long installation takes. Typically, installation pros charge by the hour, although if the pro is also selling the garage door opener they may have a flat fee for the product with installation. The national average for new garage door opener costs (with installation) is between $390 and $650, although the national average cost for the opener purchased alone may be in the $150-$300 range. The three most common types of openers are chain-drive, screw-drive and belt-drive. The chain-drive costs the least but makes the most noise. The belt-drive is typically the quietest and the most expensive. You can expect to pay about the same amount for installation for any of the three styles. The lifespan of a garage door opener is approximately 10 years, depending on quality. A pro may provide opener repairs for the cost of their service call fee or they may charge a flat fee, such as $100 for opener repair. Here are some examples of new garage door opener average costs, including installation:

  • Contractor-grade garage door opener with installation: $300.
  • Chain-drive opener with installation and one remote: $350.
  • Belt-drive opener with installation and two remotes: $400
  • Top-of-the-line opener with ¾-horsepower battery backup, belt drive and nearly soundless operation: $475
    • The majority of higher-end garage door openers are “smart” products and will connect via app to your smartphone for remote access.

How much does it cost to get a new garage door?

A new garage door can add serious curb appeal, not to mention myriad home safety benefits. The cost of a new garage door will vary based on the type of garage door you want and the materials it will be made of. You can purchase a new garage door and have the pros install it for you, but proceed with caution as many installers won’t guarantee their labor if you didn’t purchase the garage door through their company. A new door (without installation) may cost anywhere from $200 to $4,000 or more, depending on size, brand and materials. Here are some examples of average new garage door costs, including installation:

  • Raised-panel, insulated,16x7 garage door: $1,100
    • Without insulation: about $900
  • Raised-panel, insulated, 8x7: $700
    • Without insulation: $550
  • Carriage-house 16x7 garage door with stamped-steel design: $1,500
  • Carriage-house 8x7 garage door with stamped-steel design: $1,000
    • A carriage-house garage door is a barn-style door with handles and hinges; it looks like it pulls out in the style of a barn door but is actually a roll-up.
  • Carriage-house 16x7 garage door with steel and faux-wood overlay: $3,500
  • Carriage-house 8x7 garage door with steel and faux-wood overlay: $2,000–$2,200
  • Solid-wood cedar or mahogany 16x7 garage door with window in top panels: $5,000
  • Solid-wood cedar or mahogany 8x7 garage door with window in top panels: $3,500

How much should it cost to replace a garage door cable?

If your garage door is not opening or has become jammed, you may need to replace the garage door cables. Unless you have the proper tools and know-how, this is a job best left to a professional due to the weight of the garage door and the extreme tension of the springs. The cost of repair will vary depending on your location, the length of the cables you need, and the time it takes the pro to do the replacement.

From a big-box store, basic garage door cables can run between $8 and $20, depending on the product. Your pro may charge you a different cost if they provide the cables. Your cables may not need to be replaced if they have simply come off the track, but broken cables will need to be completely removed and replaced. In either instance, the pros will need to secure or take down the door; unwind the springs; reset or replace the rollers, cables, and drums; and then wind the springs once more. For example, a pro could reset cables that have come off the track for $129.99. The average national cost for a garage door repair specialist is $80 - $110 per hour and the typical cost to replace a broken garage door cable is anywhere from $130 to $200.

How much is it to replace a garage door panel?

Replacing a garage door panel can add significantly to the cost of a garage door repair. Panels run horizontally on sectional roll-up garage doors. They may be made of wood, vinyl, aluminum, fiberglass or steel. Garage door panels can become damaged from hail and other extreme weather, dents and dings, car accidents, and age. When deciding if you want to replace a garage door panel, it’s helpful to compare the potential repair cost to the cost of a new garage door. Panel replacement requires a pro with the proper tools as well as the new parts. With parts and labor you could be paying more than $500 for one new panel. In comparison, a new garage door may cost $800-$1,200 (on average) with installation. If there is a possibility your garage door was structurally compromised when the panel was damaged, have the pro assess whether it’s better to completely remove and replace the door, rails and framework to ensure your home’s safety. It may also be better to completely replace your door if it is severely rusted or dented; if the paint is peeling and fading; if the door model is outdated or you can’t find replacement panels; or if the panels or rails are structurally compromised.
