Coach Lynn helps me in my career transition, as well as she designed my CV, trained me for interviews and enhanced my communication skills. I am convinced that she is awesome Executive Life Coach. All of my meetings and interactions with her were highly informative, helpful and I was able to gain more confidence to accomplish my goals. Coach Lynn was incredibly effective throughout my job search. Amazingly, within the month of our interactions I was able to get an excellent job. Moreover, new avenues for my career development have opened with her efforts. I am very satisfied with career coaching from Coach Lynn Johnson. She is highly experienced, insightful and professional in her work. I greatly value all the advice, training and other services that she provides to me. I will definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a job or better career.

Absolutely exceptional in every single way. Elin is without a doubt one of the most positive and supportive coaches. He listened closely to my goals and selected the perfect trainer for me. Trainer Alek is an amazing person who customized a program for me that is challenging, but not overwhelming. Working with Alek is very motivating and he pushes me to work harder to reach my goal in a very subtle way, so that a hard workout still is enjoyable and fun. Every week he emails me a workout summary and an overview of where I’m currently standing in my training. Elin is also tracking my progress and he reaches out every week to check up and see if everything is working out to my satisfaction. Elin and his team are professionals who truly enjoy helping people like me reach their goals. Customer satisfaction is highly regarded and they work with you to accommodate your schedule and budget. I have worked with different trainers and studios in the past, but Elin and his team are taking personal training to a whole new level.

I started my fitness journey a year ago with Jaime and I could not be happier with the results. When I first met with Jaime we discussed my goals and put a plan in place. I was not only being trained on how to properly exercise but I was educated on how to have a healthy lifestyle. My quality of life and self-image have significantly increased since working with Jaime. He is an amazing trainer, coach and professional. I highly recommend him to anyone that wants to begin or continue his or her fitness journey.

Arris is awesome! He is dedicated, outgoing, specific for your personal goals and energetic during each and every session. He comes prepared and helps you reach your fitness goals! The best part is he travels to you, and is flexible when it comes to your work schedule! I have been working with him over the past few weeks and already notice both physical and lifestyle changes in sleep, energy and appearance. If you have a question related to your fitness goals, workouts or health, he’s got an answer for you! He brings his knowledge and energy to each session, and is also dedicated to his clients outside of the gym, providing follow ups throughout the week via text messaging. Whatever the goal, he can assist. Looking forward to the upcoming sessions we have scheduled, and even more excited about the changes I have and will continue to see in my overall health. Try a personal training session with Arris, you won’t be disappointed!

Chris is simply the best trainer I ever worked with. Apart from being professionally excellent and pushing you hard to achieve your full fitness potential, he is a beautiful human being. He is genuinely caring and has a great sense of social responsibility. He sees his work as his calling and really puts his heart and soul into the wellbeing of his clients. He coaches many young trainers and is involved with a variety of social causes. His energy and optimism is truly amazing and slowly but surely, he is changing one life at a time. Thank you Chris.

Tina is a fantastic coach! I took her Crossfit class for several months and was always impressed by how much attention she paid to form... her greatest concern was ensuring that everyone lifted with proper form to avoid injury and get maximum results. Not only is she a great coach, but she's a super fun person to be around. She has a great sense of humor and really cares about her clients.

I've always had trouble getting motivated to workout. I called upon Matt to help me get back into shape after noticing that I was gaining weight and lost all motivation to go to the gym. From day one Matt brought a spark back to my workouts and I've completely seen the results in just a month of being trained by him. He is well educated in health and fitness and if I have any questions, he is right there to help guide me in the right direction. I am happy that I found not only a great fitness instructor but a good friend as well.

I was really impressed with Brian's demeanor and supportive attitude. Very welcoming personality, which is great for someone like myself who has not been active in a gym in a long time. Most people know within the first few minutes whether or not a trainer/doctor/ or any type of professional is a good match for them. After my first session and evaluation I feel confident that Brian will not only help me reach my goals, but also help me help myself towards achieving long term health.

I've been training with Nate several times a week for over 5 years, and I couldn't be more pleased with my progress, fitness level (strength, duration, flexibility), and the ongoing challenge and diversity of workouts -- they're never boring and incorporate strength, stability and core, time under tension, and functional training for every part of my body. In addition, Nate's a nice guy with a great sense of humor, so the workouts are tough but enjoyable. After his initial assessment, he continued to take the time to get know me individually and has a vested interest in my health, well being, strengths, and weaknesses (he enjoys identifying and having me work on my weaknesses!). Nate works hard with each of his clients and he customizes each workout for their individual needs and goals. In the 5+ years I've trained with him, Nate has never been late or missed a workout -- even in snowstorms! When I need to change a training appointment, Nate works very hard to find a time that is mutually beneficial. Finding the right personal trainer that had the proper knowledge, experience, equipment, interpersonal skills, and motivation to align with mine was tough; and I couldn't be happier to have found Nate. My investment in training with him has been more than worth it: I'm in great physical shape, my doctor asks if I've found the fountain of youth, and I've made a good friend in the process.

I haven't begun working with Kelly yet, but I did speak with her for a little while on the phone. My impression is that she is not only legitimate, but also very professional, sincere, client-centered. I'm looking forward to working with her to overcome some personal challenges, build a successful coaching business, and broaden the horizons of my spirituality.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.
