I am so thankful for Chef Kev! He was fabulous. He was very responsive. He took care of everything for us, decorations, serving ware, set up and clean up. I was able to relax and enjoy the surprise party for my mother. I had no worries. He created a great menu for 40 people. BBQ salmon bites, honey ginger broiled black tiger shrimp, red pepper jumbo lump crab salad on puff pastry cups, are just a few of the items he prepared along with great selection of beer and wine. Everything was delicious. Kevin was warm and friendly. He was very response and worked with me... when the guest of honor was hospitalized and we weren't sure if the party would take place. I could not of been more pleased Kevin was very cooperative and compassionate and communicated well during this difficult time. The quest of honor made it and it was a success! I highly recommend Chef Kev!

Sam created many different balloon animals and shapes for my son's birthday party. There were about a dozen kids who were nonstop in requesting more balloons. Sam worked quickly and made several shapes that impressed the adults as well. He worked for one hour within a flex booking which was very convenient since we had some late replies from guests about attending the party. He did not need a lot of space to set up and brought everything he needed - the kids were occupied for much of the time so the parents could eat and relax for a while. I did get a request from a family member for Sam's info for their kids' next party!

After I decided to plan a 70th birthday party for my father, I knew I wanted something different other than just a few guests at home. After speaking with the owner of ALD, April, about what I was looking for and what my budget was, she immediately started helping me brainstorm options for locations and vendors to take care of everything from cupcake orders to banners. She even went to visit the restaurant, see the room, and speak to the restaurant event planner before I could make it over to the location. April is super organized and has timelines and deadlines for each step in planning the event and she always returned my calls and emails in a timely manner. When the day of the event arrived she had all of the materials as discussed and decorated the dining room with a beautiful black and gold theme. She provided everything from chair covers and table linens to balloons. Everything went as planned and she stayed around to make sure everything was on track. I'm so glad that I worked with ALD! They created a memorable and unforgettable event.

My husband and I hired Floyds DJ Services for our May 13, 2017, ceremony in Woodbridge, Va. Finding a DJ had proven to be my toughest task during the wedding planning phase. . . that is, until Kacey responded to my request for information. She's pleasant, easy to work with and was always responsive. The constant threat of rain for our outdoor ceremony has us wavering on whether we'd be outdoors or move the ceremony inside. Kacey remind flexible as we didn't make the final call until just hours before the ceremony was to start. We were lucky enough to have BOTH Kacey and her husband, DJ Unknown, for our ceremony and reception. He is a GREAT hype man, and together, they read the crowd and played the right mix of old-school jams (as I requested) and current Top 40 Hits (including a ton of songs from my personal playlist suggestion). DJ Kacey even got on the dance floor to lead the crowd into a line dance and help get the party started. Their sound system was super crisp and there wasn't a single glitch! We had selected a final song to be played, and when it came time, DJ Kacey and DJ Unknown surprised us with a PHENOMENAL send off by having our guests line up in a receiving line to end the day. In a word, it was pure magic! Floyds DJ Services is a true example of exceptional quality that doesn't break the bank. I'd recommend them 10 times over! -Kevin G.

Daniel provided an outstanding service as a bar tender for our party of more than 100 people, all by himself. He came really early to settle down and make sure he was ready on time, brought a really good looking equipment (lights, black table clothes, all sort of great looking festive gadgets). And most of all, lots of fresh fruit juices and fresh fruit skewers (all home made!) to make the best cocktails ever! He paid attention to every detail, making sure that everything was perfect. He is super nice and friendly, all the guests appreciated him a lot. He stayed really late, left the place spotless, great job! I can only recommend him again and again! Way to go, Daniel!!! Mary is the perfect wedding coordinator. She is very genuine and very in tune to every detail. My wedding day was stress free because she managed 180 guests and my entire bridal party along with other vendors. She was sensitive to the time and she provided agendas at each meeting. She went the distance at my wedding and truely sacrificed to be at meetings including the wedding rehearsal. I couldn't have ask for anyone better. She was humble, engaged actively, and made decisions for the better. She even provided additional details that could make my ceromony more romantic and meaningful. I have witnessed her plan everything from simple birthday gatherings to bachelorette parties and bridal showers for friends. When I needed an event planned, asking Suzy to help plan was a no brainer. Angie of Honey Do Wedding and Event Planners was one of the best decisions we made throughout our wedding planning process. She was affordable (especially for a student and military wedding) but always made us feel like her number one clients. Not only was she a great value, but she went over and above what we were expecting. We hired her to be our day of coordinator, but we met with her on a regular basis and she always responded to all calls, texts, and emails. Angie is incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and has connections with various other wedding vendors. As a same sex couple, she never treated us any differently than an opposite-sex couple, and she actually was great at recognizing the subtle differences that come with having two brides. At our first meeting at a potential venue, Angie came prepared with examples of her work and binder with all of our info. She even printed out new forms that said bride and bride instead of bride and groom. These small but significant touches are what make Angie stand out among other wedding planners. She helped us negotiate with vendors to get better prices and confirmed all vendors the week of, lifting a lot of the stress off of our shoulders. I hired Coast to Coast Event Staff to help me with a 40th birthday party for 40 guests. Dee answered the call when there was less than 7 days to the event. I originally asked for a bartender and an event helper to assist on the party day...I planned to do the rest on my own! Dee offered some helpful suggestions and worked with me to stay on budget. By the end her team created a stunning 3 tier cake and cake pops that matched my photo perfectly (with a 2 day deadline) - ordered/pick up/delivered food from my favorite restaurant - provided all party supplies - balloons - candy display - set up and cleaned up! That part might be easy but it was the customer service and level of communication that earns 5 stars. Dee took the worry right out of my hands. Anthony and Christie were professional and a fun addition to the party. I felt like a princess without breaking the bank and each and every guest left with a smile. Happy to be a referral as they earned my future business.

Planning for a West Point graduation is like planning a destination wedding for royalty. The weeklong pomp and ceremony of the cadets graduation and commissioning as an army officer on a highly secure and secluded army base requires months of planning. Some plan a year out. Booking hotels, helping guests navigate the campus, getting on and off base and through security check points, transportation to West Point and then around campus and town, planning for meals, seating at events, securing a spot for the commissioning ceremony, is not for the faint at heart or for amateurs. I hired a professional wedding and party planner. She booked lodging and reception hall, secured transportation service to and from post, arranged for breakfast food and snacks during commute to post, meals to be delivered to post for commissioning ceremony and food for our private reception back at the hotel. She had maps and program booklets with details of the events of the day and activities during free time. She thought of it all and executed it without a hitch. Meanwhile, I was able to enjoy the festivities of my son’s graduation and commissioning and enjoy the company of my guests. It was a memorable occasion. Whether it’s the army, navy or air force academy graduation, you want to hire Jacqueline Johnson of Make It A Delightful Day event planning services. The name of her service says it all.

I loved everything about working with Dianna of Catering reserved! From start to finish she delivered everything she promised, including delicious food! She was prompt, creative, and thorough in her proposal; she worked with me to refine my needs and I was very comfortable with my final decisions; Her pricing was affordable and fair and most importantly she promised there would really be enough food to feed everyone and there was! She promised it would be delivered on time (it was), that her staff would set it all up nicely without my help (he did!) and that it would be hot and delicious (and it was!). Nothing was forgotten; nothing was omitted. The serving utensils were there, the sterno, and the clear containers were perfect for serving the food in. I didn't need china serving dishes for my event, but Dianna does offer that and if my next event needs Catering Reserved's full service, I won't hesitate to use it. (Food plus waitstaff for setup and clean up.) I've never met Dianna in person, and I never tasted her food prior to hiring her for my very important event, but from our first conversation I just knew I could trust her, and I was right. I highly recommended her! Thanks to Catering Reserved, I got to visit with my guests and totally enjoy my "after-the-wedding" party.

When my now wife and I set out to plan our wedding, we were one of those couples who thought hiring a planner was unnecessary. We had roughly 6 months to pull it off. We fancy ourselves as reasonably intelligent and financially responsible people and we thought that was plenty of time. Fast forward 4 months. The stress began to mount and panic had set in. Our budget is dwindling. We broke down and decided to hire a day-of coordinator. Better late than never, but who do we call? Every one we spoke to was either way too expensive or not the right fit personality wise. Thanks to Thumbtack, we found Vanessa. We are incredibly happy we did and we couldn't have pulled off our awesome wedding without her. Here's just a few of the reasons why: 1) Attitude - She has the PERFECT demeanor for event planning. She kept us on track, but was never pushy. Very personable and easy to talk to. Every time we spoke to her we felt both at ease and motivated to check more off of our list. 2) Creativity - Simply put she has great ideas. Whether it was decor, logistics, floor planning, etc., she listened to our inputs (which weren't always in lockstep - welcome to married life) but put here own spin on things. Our wedding was weeks ago and we still are getting comments on how beautiful everything was. 3) Contacts - Vanessa made great recommendations for vendors, and didn't do so based on any kickbacks or financial gain to herself. In fact, we had one vendor who was somewhat flaky that we had already booked. She was able to line up a "just in case" vendor for us. 4) Organization - Nothing fell through the cracks and she thought of small details we didn't have the capacity to (because we were too busy being crazy pants). 5) Value - She is worth every penny and I would argue she is a bargain for the service she provides. This is especially in comparison to other planners out there. If you need help planning an event, not just a wedding, we highly suggest you reach out to Vanessa @ Little Black Book. You absolutely will not regret it.

Just had a great event yesterday, planned by Lisa McGillin of ELG Event Productions - a Celebration of Life for my recently deceased husband could not have been more perfect from any perspective. Another planner had left me hanging with no arrangements, 2 weeks before the event date, but Lisa rode to the rescue. Good deals arranged for full service catering, equipment and furnishings, flower arrangements, momentoes for the guests, terrific bar service - and it was all put together like magic despite the short planing window during this already busy party season of graduations, weddings, etc. Lisa made it special in a hundred ways. I have made a new friend in Lisa at a time when friends mean so much. My husband would have loved every minute of this special celebration!

Wow, I can't say enough nice things about Lynn! She is so easy to work with, and so warm, it's like planning your wedding with a friend. I went with day of coordination, which really was more of a month of planning the timeline and getting the details cleared up, plus actually organizing your vendors on the big day. Lynn came to the venue walk-through and asked all the right questions of venue management that I would never have thought of! She made a very detailed timeline and coordinated with all my vendors and my bridal party, she ran the rehearsal, plus she ordered the table linens, and arranged all my decorations. She went above and beyond! They day ran so smoothly because of her. She's always quick to respond to email, and great at offering advice. Her rates are a steal, and she doesn't nickle and dime you for every little thing like some planners. I highly recommend her!

Working with EA was amazing... from start to finish. Their responsiveness, their professionalism and their vision--had me from day one. From the time of first contact, Shavonna calmed me and reassured me that EA could turn my vision into a reality. We hired EA for event design--and they did just that! Every picture I sent and every idea I conveyed was implemented to the fullest extent. EA received kudos from my venue and my wedding planner for their efficient manner for getting the job done, as well as the exquisite design details. When my new hubby and I were introduced, as we walked into the ballroom, I literally cried. As a bride, planning for months, you can never imagine just HOW it will all pull together--your vision, your ideas, your dreams--that makes you so very nervous. As we walked through the crowd to start our first dance, I remember thinking "it is literally dead-on...they nailed my vision dead-on..." I remember telling Shavonna prior that I couldn't imagine how all of my ideas would pull together--couldn't envision it... her response was "leave it to her--that was EA's job, that's why I hired them...so I could remove that concern off my plate" Once again...dead-on.... From the lanterns, to the Eiffel tower feather centerpieces, to the gorgeous linens to the spectacular feather bouquets/boutonnieres/corsages....I am forever grateful.... Many people tell you to prepare for something not to go right, or for something not to be perfect on your wedding day. Thank you so much to Michele and Laura. I didn't think we needed a day of coordinator, to cut costs. I WAS WRONG!!! Our wedding ceremony and reception would not have happened perfectly (and it was perfect!) without them. They helped us wrangle in our wedding party, officiant and family on the rehearsal. We SO needed their help during the rehearsal to figure out timing and music. I always thought, all they have to do is walk down the aisle and stand in place. Well, the last thing YOU (bride and groom) want to do is worry about that on your rehearsal day. They were patient, provided expert advice to guide us all on the day of, and in the right direction . We had in person meetings prior to the wedding where they accommodated our schedules and came to our home to plan and listen to our vision. They helped me in dealing with an overbearing mother that wanted to be a part of every minute decision. But most important... they listened and I trusted them. They didn't need a lot of guidance and I was blown away by how they coordinated and organized all of the little things for the reception... The escort card table, the sweetheart table, all my signage.. It was SO AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know how I could have pulled that all off without them. They have the experience and the right touch. They executed my vision and it was very classy and elegant. We Plan You Party helped in making all my wedding dreams come true. The communication and hiring process was prompt and professional (way more than I have experienced with competitors in the past) and went smoothly and seamlessly. The bartender and server arrived on time (early actually!!), were professionally dressed and did a very good job throughout the night. The only thing that I could have asked for to give a 5 star rating was for both to be more proactive in their roles. The girls were both great, but I would have loved for them to sort of lead the way - we do not often hire people for our parties and would have loved for them to be more self reliant. That is minor really - I would definitely use Impeccable Occasions again and would recommend to friends!
