Tona is absolutely awesome - she made me feel very comfortable with our trial lesson and so I bought the 6 pack of lessons. I'm intimately familiar with music as I used to play and sing way back when also going to school for vocal performance. But, I hadn't done it in a long while and wanted to get back into music. She's been extremely patient with my rustiness (even when I'm not with myself) and I really appreciate that. As an adult getting back into music with the violin I appreciate her honesty, patience, professionalism, response time and her being on time for our lessons.

I have taken voice lessons before, however, never enjoyed the experience as I have with Momma Debbie Kirkland. Momma Debbie has a warm, fun, exciting, inviting, loving, motherly and caring spirit. She is an awesome teacher and singer. I felt major improvements in my breathing and voice dynamics. It has truly been a life changing experience that I will treasure forever and ever. Yulia is absolutely incredible!! She has been working with my 12-year-old daughter to strengthen her voice. The results are immediate. I had the pleasure of viewing the first lesson and I am pleased that she ran through all the technical aspects of signing. My daughter will be performing in a talent show today and her confidence is through the roof, thanks to Yulia. I recommend this coach 100%.

My experience with Mr. Penney is unparalleled and unequal with respect to any other voice teacher I've ever had. I thought a longtime voice teacher was the best until she passed away and I had to find a new teacher. Then I found Mr. Penney and I've never looked back. Everyone noticed a difference in my voice once I started lessons with him. He hears things in your voice like no one else and he is able to translate that into advice and guidance that enables his students of all ages to reach their potential and their goals.

Singing in church choirs has been a wonderful outlet and enabled me to find a community as I moved every few years to different parts of the globe. Finally putting down roots, I wanted to find a voice coach who would help me improve breath control, strengthen the range of my voice, and improve the overall quality of my singing. I am blessed to have found Keely Bosworth Borland, a gifted soprano and performer. Keely has been the perfect coach for me. She has a unique ability to both nurture and push me. Keely has identified and helped me work on my breath control. She has used a wide variety of music to foster my confidence while stretching my vocal range. Her lessons include a selection of vocal warm-ups and breathing exercises each week that compliment the music we sing. I have found that recording her lessons and rehearsing them between lessons to be of great help. I highly recommend Keely to anyone looking for a voice coach from the novice to the serious performer.

Vicky has been a great fit for our son. He is almost 13, but with the deep voice of a 21-year old. Being autistic, proper singing is not only fun, but also an integral part of breathing and speech for him. Vicky has been knowledgeable and very patient!

Let’s start with a question I asked Sammy during one of my lessons, I asked if he enjoys performing or teaching more. He responded with I have been performing for over 10 years at some point you get burnt out but the reward of seeing students improve over time is greater than any performance good ever be. Sammy’s teaching style is a comfort first approach rather than most teachers who throw techniques and theory at you immediately. He likes to gauge and range where you are at so he can build on your foundations. Without speaking about his credentials as graduate from Juilliard or other accolades, he wants to advance his students to their full abilities. His goals are to meet your goals and help you discover them. He likes to connect with his students and explore their creativity as well. The most beneficial part of Sammy’s lessons is he allows you to record them to play them back to practice throughout the week.

Maddie is without a doubt the best vocal teacher you will come across. After only a few months of lessons, I was singing like a new person. I feel confident that I have gotten top notch training and have the confidence I need to be successful in the musical theatre industry. I came in with some vocal issues (straining, fatigue and bad habits) and Maddie gave me tricks to make sure I was singing healthily and in a way that I could sustain. Not the mention she is the sweetest, kindest person you'll meet. I am forever greatful for Maddie and the tools she has given me. If you are looking for a vocal teacher, you can't find someone better than Maddie.

I have been taking voice lessons from Tracy for several months now and I can't say enough about her. I love her! She is incredibly knowledgable and always greets me with a smile. I was so nervous and scared when I started and Tracy helped me with my fear of singing. She made me feel comfortable and put me at ease right away. She is very patient with me and is always so encouraging. I feel my confidence growing and I am finding my voice with her. In fact, I now walk around my house belting out songs using this voice that I didn't even know I had. Thank you Tracy for all you have done for me I am so grateful that I found you!

I have used Alvin Smithson's services for over five years as a piano tuner, teacher and performer. I am always impressed with his skills, artistry and professionalism. Alvin first came to tune my 100-years old Steinway after it had been neglected for a number of years. He first examined the instrument, diagnosed what needed to be done and then proceeded with his expert tuning. Immediately after he was done and started playing, I was amazed at how good the piano sounded. Alvin explained that with a piano that hasn't been tuned or played in so many years, it will take some time to achieve its best form and sound for which it was built. A short time after, my wife started taking piano lessons from Alvin and as she started gaining proficiency in playing under his guidance, the piano itself gained a rich pleasing sound. Alvin paid close attention and adjusted notes or did a full tuning whenever needed. He also took the time to clean the strings and do minor technical adjustments. When a string needed to be replaced, Alvin recommended a technician from a highly reputable company. Overall, we owe it to his expertise to have the wonderful old piano do what it was built for by the Steinway masters. I should also mention that I heard some great musicians at venues where Alvin is the regular piano tuner. People who visit our house and hear our piano, or play it themselves, always compliment its sound. But the best comes when Alvin himself sits at the keyboard, whether at our house, at a social function or performing in the theater, it's such a joy to hear him play some great classical pieces as well as his own wonderful compositions. He is truly a very talented, sensitive and highly knowledgeable artist. And such a pleasant person, too. My wife and I feel fortunate to have Alvin give us the best piano sound to enjoy live music in our home. I would recommend him to anyone as piano tuner, teacher and overall musician.

I studied voice with Dorothy Miller for over four years, and I loved every lesson I had with her! I began taking voice lessons in eighth grade because I loved musical theater, but I could not sing. I was absolutely tone-deaf and I couldn't even read music. When I first began with Dorothy, she gave me nothing but continuous encouragement and support, teaching me the most basic techniques necessary for singing. As I progressed through the years, I not only overcame my tone-deafness but actually became a good singer. She helped me to expand my range by over an octave, adding notes to the top and bottom of my range. I now have a range of nearly three octaves when I began barely able to sing an octave scale. In addition to voice, Dorothy also helped me prepare for various auditions as well as taught me to read music and some basic music theory. She also has experience with acting, especially with musical theater, so some of my lessons were dedicated specifically to enhancing my acting skills, both with and without music. Over the years, I began to develop a friendship with Dorothy because she really takes time to get to know her students on a personal level and always loves to sit and chat before and after her lessons. She always made me laugh and was very kind. I never left a voice lesson without a smile on my face, and I always looked forward to returning the following week. I loved studying under Dorothy so much that I recommended her to four of my best friends, who also took lessons with her for multiple years. I now am in my second year of college and no longer am able to take lessons with Dorothy anymore. However, I still make it a point to catch up with her whenever I have a break to talk about how my semester has been, and it is like I never left. I would give Dorothy Miller Vocal Studio 10/5 stars if I could because she is absolutely phenomenal, and I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat. I am very lucky to have been her student, and I wouldn't be where I am today without her.

My experience working with Matt Rippere was the most rewarding experience of my college career. Not only did he help me gain more confidence in my singing but he also gave me more confidence in being a person. He is a very caring person and always sees the best in everyone. When it came to singing, Matt always knew what was best for me and I honored every piece of advice he gave me. He is extremely knowledgeable in vocal pedagogy and vocal health. He is also very good and extremely thoughtful when choosing music for individual voices. I always loved every piece he picked for me. My favorite part of Matt’s teaching was that he never tried to make my voice something that it was not but worked on growing my natural voice. Throughout my 4 years of college my voice did nothing but grow healthily and I owe all of that to Matt. Without him I know I would not be the singer that I am today. He is by far the best voice teacher and I highly recommend using him as yours.

My daughter had lessons with Michelle for several years. She helped her voice improve so much that her high school choir teacher commended my daughter for the improvement. She just started in college and auditioned successfully for their concert choir. Michelle is patient, extremely knowlegeable about choral music and able to translate that passion to kids. We drove an hour each way for several years for lessons. Well worth it and would recommend her highly. Feel free to contact me for more info, by email beth_muller@ymail.com or phone 703.220.4973

Chris is an awesome teacher! He has been such an inspiration to my young teen son who never played piano before Chris. He goes the extra mile with his students, is innovative, keeps my son's attention and motivates! He not only teaches traditional music that he knows is appropriate for the level and ability of his students, but also allows them to request their own songs of interest to learn. He keeps communication open with parents. My son has learned so much! Definitely the best! Highly recommend!

If you are looking for a friendly, supportive and very knowledgable voice instructor -- look no further! I have been a voice student of Barbara's for about 2 1/2 years. In that time, she has taught me how to use my voice more efficiently, more precisely and to truly enjoy the music I sing. She starts from the basics and works up from there, at your pace - really teaching you how to sing, properly using all your vocal structures to get your best, most pure sound! Barbara is very kind, welcoming, patient and really wants to get to know her students as people, not just paying clients. Her home is warm and inviting and her two sweet dogs keep us company many evenings during our lessons. I would highly recommend Barbara as a voice instructor!
