Our washing machine quit in the middle of a load and left us with a washer full of water and laundry. After some brief tinkering and troubleshooting by my wonderful husband, we determined it was an issue for a professional. I then found Guemri and Mr. Thameur and saw his awesome reviews. He responded immediately and was able to come same day, promptly and within the time window provided. He quickly determined the problem and had the part available in his vehicle. Within 24 hours of the initial mess, our washing machine was back in business! He even was kind enough to put our dryer back together, since my husband had left it in the middle of the hallway (though I think he was mostly trying to save us from anymore of my husband's diy's!!!) He was incredibly courteous and reasonable, and I've already recommended him to a family member.

If Drew’s Service Solutions and Jon Drew respond to your Thumbtack job, you are fortunate. Don’t overthink it; just do it. I’m an overthinker and had 5 companies come out to give estimates. Drew was the first one and I should have committed then. Three weeks ago, I’d never heard of Jon Drew. Today and after a week of nothing short of heroism in my old, concreted, plastered home in which he did, among other things, a whole-house repipe from galvanized to copper, I’m recommending him to all my friends. Why? Ok, this will take a while. 1. His work is careful, thoughtful and beautiful. The waterlines now run where they need to in the most efficient way possible. He understands the end user’s needs. Although not in our statement of work, he replaced my basement utility sink with something much more useful and attractive, while adding beautiful copper waterlines with their own cut-off valves. He also ran much more efficient and beautiful clothes washer waterlines and gave me a bonus laundry waterline box, also with cut-off valves. Check out the photos. 2. He keeps his word and doesn’t leave you wondering. With my plumbing job, he did exactly what he told me he would do, down to the time he said he would be there in the morning. He let me know in advance about any changes. 3. He’s an educator. He’s the expert and I’m not; I just knew I had some plumbing problems and trusted him to fix them. Not only did he fix them, he first took the time to explain to me what the issues were so I could make an informed decision what to do about them.

Lassad was simply outstanding. He came the same day and suggested an ingenious way to mount both washer and dryer in order to reduce vibration. Then he took me to Home Depot, cut two wooden 2x6 boards for mounting the washer and installed it under the washer. Plus he diagnosed why the dryer was making a lot of noise (after Sears and other technicians could not). He even took a look at our fridge and advised us on installing a water filter for the whole house. He was resourceful and received our trust. Lassad was professional, competent, courteous and a pleasure to interact with. I highly recommend him.

I had my washer/dryer installed by this team. They were efficient in their set up and professional in the approach. The installation required some heavy lifting and maneuvers to lift onto a 3ft shelf.

I liked that the technician was very knowledgeable about my appliance given that it is an old model. He didn't assume the washer could not be fixed due to the age but jumped right into fixing it and also offered other suggestions in keeping it in good working order. I am very pleased with this service.

Very knowledgeable and even told me that I shouldn't repair the washer because it was already old. The repairman helped me do a cost analysis to make the best decision and recommended top brands for replacement

Carlos responded to my request within minutes and came out that day to give me a quote which was very reasonable so we scheduled a time for him to come out and to the job which he was on time for. I had water damage due on my kitchen ceiling due to the washer leaking on the top floor which he repaired and painted the area which now looks brand new. I look forward to hiring Carlos for other projects that we need done at the house.

Nick responded and came over for estimate quickly and even fixed our weak shower pressure on the spot. Our job ended up more complicated than what he probably anticipated but he stayed for hours until he was all complete so that we can start using out new washer and utility sink. And he also fixed the leaky gas hookup another plumbing did in our new kitchen. His rate is very affordable and he offered to work on weekend for no additional fee. Thanks a lot Nick!

Jake and his brother were amazing. When my washer started leaking water all over the floor the same day as bringing home a new born baby I wasn't sure what could have gone wrong. I called Jake and he and his brother were quick to come out and diagnose the problem. It took them about 5 mins to tell me what was wrong. They were honest and fair and gave me advise on not only on what I should do with the washer but also how I could better retain heat in my house. The next time I have another plumbing issue I'll be calling Jake. Thanks a lot guys.

Jamie did a wonderful job! He was quick, required little supervision -- if any at all -- and kept a clean workspace in a very tiny apartment. This was a project to install a big cabinet in a space above my washer/dryer. The cabinet was a bit too small for the space, so it needed to be installed perfectly, and then trim had to be installed. Also, the space was not squared. Again, Jamie did a great job. I'm very happy with the work.

We had A Preferred come out and repair an LG all in one washer dryer unit. Dupree Johnson was our technician and he provided outstanding service. He completed the job in a timely manner and also provided some very helpful tips on how to keep the machine running properly. Arrived on time and rates were very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Was very professional and knew what he was doing. He installed the new dishwasher and took the old one away. He made sure the area was clean before he left. Would hire him again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
