Introduction: Mike Lewis C.P.T & C.N Let me start off by saying thank you for visiting. Hopefully this means you are finally serious about getting back into shape. I am a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutritionist. I attended Heritage College in Wichita, KS. I received my degree and ASFA certification in the fall of 2009. Shortly after that, I received my degree in Nutrition from Ashworth College. I am also CPR and AED certified. In April, 2010 I opened Mike Lewis Fitness in Newton Kansas. By attending school for 10 months and receiving my certifications I am qualified to give training and nutritional advice beyond that of a non-certified trainer or trainer that has gone online to take a test and say they are certified. Please be diligent when it comes to there training. Ask questions. As a certified trainer I know how to perform a thorough assessment and evaluate each individual’s personal needs. I understand how to work each muscle group and in what order to receive maximum results and avoid injury. I am also able to work around injuries Ex. shoulder, knee, hip, back etc…and various health conditions such as stroke, osteoporosis, COPD, pregnancy, Parkinson, obesity, eating disorders and many more. While working towards my degree I received hands on experience training other students at the school for a total of 900 hours and then was required to complete another 240 hours of internship before receiving my degree. In the past seven years, I have had experience in training the following special populations: over weight, stroke victim, Parkinson, single Leg Amputee,power lifter, athletes, high school athletes, elderly, cheerleader, Miss Kansas beauty pageant contestant,television and movie star,doctors, nurses and kids. I opened Mike Lewis Fitness because I saw that many people were intimidated to work out in public setting, especially if they were not sure how to use the equipment or how to perform the exercise. My gym allows for private one on one training sessions. I am not the type of trainer that will yell at you and get in your face. I will encourage and motivate you to perform at a level beyond what you think you can achieve. I believe that getting your body healthy and in shape is a process, not an event. I will create workouts to fit your personal needs and as your body adjusts to training, the intensity of your workouts will increase. I am a strong believer in muscle confusion. If you do the same exercise over and over again, the less effective the exercise becomes. By changing the exercises often this creates muscle confusion and you will see better results. Along with a regimented exercise program, I encourage all of my clients to rethink the way they eat. I know it is hard to make the right food choices every day, so that’s where I can help. I am certified by Ashworth College to give nutritional advice. I can provide a nutrition consultation with you and evaluate your diet and eating habits. I will then develop a daily diet for you to follow, which will allow you to see maximum results in your health and fitness program. (Extra Charge Applies). If you do not develop healthy eating habits, your time in the gym can be ineffective and will lead to frustration. I have had clients who come in and work hard, but don’t change their eating habits and wonder why they are not seeing changes. We all know that exercise alone will not give you the results you are looking for. Lastly, I encourage my clients to stay off the scales. The scale is not always the way to measure results. Results can be measured in a number of other ways, more energy, feeling better, clothes fit better , your sleeping better, your mood has improved,the list goes on and on. That doesn’t mean we won’t jump on one every once in a while. Health and fitness is not just about weight loss. Mike Lewis is a very knowledgable personal trainer. He takes the time to adapt workouts to your fitness level whether you're an athlete or a couch potato. He pushes you so you can achieve your goals. He gives you confidence that your goals are within your reach. Each workout is different...no chance to get "bored" with the same workout. He's very personable and takes the time to make sure you're properly doing the exercises safely so to not injure yourself. Always willing to answer questions/concerns about exercises or diet. I trained with him 1:1 as well as bootcamp and looked forward to going every time. When I went on vacation for 2 weeks he took the time to write a plan for me while I was on the road. I've seen him train with all shapes, sizes, ages while I was in bootcamp and was impressed by his ability to meet everyone's needs no matter what their ability. I gained enough confidence to do two 5k's and he was waiting at the finish line both times cheering me on!! Mike Lewis is AWESOME!!
