Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have great credentials and real life experience. As a professional in-demand bass player navigating many different styles I know what skills are required in order to be a great bass player. Before coming to Los Angeles I was a teacher at New England Conservatory's Preparatory school. There, I got the skills I need to be a great teacher. I've had students go on to get full scholarships at Berklee, Attend New England Conservatory, The New School, and many other great music schools and colleges. I love creating with people I enjoy, I love feeling groove and rhythm and knowing I am a part of it. I love teaching because I get to see people learn and become engaged. There's nothing better than those "aha" moments a student will have. It makes the job worth it.

We are founding members of the Frank Ojeda fan club. We connected with Frank on Craig's list, of all things, and over the past few years he's had a profound positive influence on my son (who is now 14). Frank has taught him both upright and electric base, and is a fantastic teacher and has a great way with kids and young adults. He is kind, patient and dedicated to his craft, and has expanded my son's musical horizons. I am happy to provide a more detailed personal reference if you email me, or i answer any questions.

Frank is a great teacher...I probably asked a million questions and he answered everyone! He was always prepared for our lessons and flexible with scheduling them. For most of the lessons we worked on, he'd send me mp3 files to practice along with at home. If your looking for a teacher, I highly recommend Frank.

Frank and I work together on a regular basis. Not only is he an accomplished musician and a phenomenal bass player, but more importantly, he is a great person. If you are looking for a fun, creative, energetic and above all - professional bass teacher, look no further.

When I first started working with Frank, I had JUST begun playing the bass within 30-60 days. Not really knowing what to do or where to start, I came to him hoping to get some technical direction. I got way more than that - we spent our first session talking about what my goals with the instrument were, which allowed him to come up with an effective action plan of sorts for the following lesson(s). As most good teachers do, Frank tweaks things to fit you & is really good at figuring out how to make the experience a little more personalized that I would have originally imagined. I would absolutely recommend Frank to anyone who is new to the instrument and I can imagine he'd be equally as good for intermediates and higher level players.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My father was a guitar player, and he needed someone to accompany him. I always wanted to play music when I was a kid, having seen him do so. So, when I was 12 I asked him to teach me bass. He did, and then at 14 I picked up the acoustic bass and started taking lessons at the University of Miami with Don Koffman. He got me really seriously into it. I got into a great music college, and here I am today!
