Gladys was so helpful as we were trying to set a date for our wedding and had some last minute changes. In the end we didn't use Glady's services but were very impressed by her level of professionalism. We highly recommend her!

I had ordered some food for about 14 guests. I ordered just a few dishes which were steak tips, very enjoyable, meat cooked perfectly, went very quickly, ribs were very nice, the honey glazed chicken wings were not so popular thought they lacked a bit of sweetness, however not terrible, the slider bar was popular, pulled pork and burgers nicely done and the herbed chicken was delicious. Ordered cookies with infused milk and smores bars both very good. I picked the food up before 12pm and communication with John was easy and always available whether through phone or email. I had made some of my Nigerian rice (Jollof Rice) to go on the side which is why I did not order any sides from John. The food was very well all my guests were raving on about it and where I got it from. Fantastic job.

Lasting Impressions did an amazing job at my party and I will definitely recommend them to any one seeking decoration services. Despite the fact that I gave them short notice, everything fell perfectly into place! The color coordination was absolutely beautiful and need I say the pricing was extremely accommodating as well. I can't say enough of what Malone catering delivered. He handled my wedding in a way that provided zero worry for myself and my bride to be. He worked within our budget but didn't sacrifice quality. He was available for questions, however trivial they may have been, and always responded promptly. And most importantly, the quality of the food, was superb. He and his staff executed the night perfectly. From the food quality, to the staff he put in place, Malone catering delivered on every level. It was 5 star service and food on a working man's budget. We were more than happy, we were thankful that we went with Martin and Malone catering.

The DJ and MC services that Nancy provided were outstanding. She showed up well before the required time and allowed me to pay the day of the event. The price for the services was also very reasonable. The fundraiser went off without a hitch and Nancy was a great help. I would recommend her to anyone. Thanks again!

Arthur was incredible. He made us feel so at ease all the way up to the wedding and throughout the entire day. His variety of music was perfect, our grandparents had classics to dance to and our college friends never left the dance floor. We had a morning wedding and were nervous that noone would want to dance. you never would have known that it was noon! People had a blast. our guests had so much fun and keep asking us how we found our DJ because he was awesome! Could not have hired a better master of ceremonies! I was so confident in him the entire time and he never let me down! :) Thank you, Arthur!!

My wife and I decided to put on a wedding in my in laws’ backyard and in doing so were met with a variety of challenges, missteps, and hiccups. Yvonne was able to help us make our vision work giving us guidance along the way. Most importantly, Yvonne and her assistant Erika made the day of completely stress free by insulating the both of us from any problems which may have occurred. Could not recommend her enough!

From the moment we had contact with one another until the day of my wedding reception, Seas the Moment went above and beyond. The decor was beautiful. Her responses to my emails were immediate and her attention to detail was flawless. I feel like I have gained a friend. She listened to all of my requests and she also accommodated any last minute changes I made. I would give her a 10 out of 10 all day, everyday. I am very critical of events or parties I throw and I am pleased to say that I would work with her again in a heart beat!!

Rev. Carl was FABULOUS! The wedding was a bit delayed due to "maid-of-honor forgetfulness" and the Reverend kept this bride occupied, calm and smiling through the whole wait. The service was exactly what I asked for short, sweet and yet still VERY personal. I would absolutely recommend Ocean State Event Services and Rev. Carl for your wedding!

Kelly did the day of coordination for my wedding, and all the pre-work to prepare for the day. She helped find additional staff, suggest vendors, and essentially anything I asked of her. Kelly was truly amazing and saved my wedding in so many ways! From the moment I hired Kelly, she gave me peace of mind and assurance that everything will be perfect. There is a lot of effort and coordination that goes into making a wedding, Kelly was right there with me along the way. As somebody who has orchestrated many events, she gave thoughtful suggestions to ensure my event was planned perfectly. She was always in contact, answered all my emails promptly, and calmed every worry and question I had prior to my wedding. She went over my plan and wishes in great detail to ensure she knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted everything. The day of she was a wedding saver. I got everything I planned executed as requested and the event ran without any issues (at least none I was award of), Kelly did that great of a job. I spent my wedding day dancing, enjoying the wedding I dreamed of, and visiting my family and friends, while Kelly worked extremely hard to ensure everything went as planned. She did an outstanding job and my wedding day was beyond my expectations. Thank you Kelly for everything that you did and all the things I don't know about, you were truly one of the best decisions I made during my wedding planning!

These guys are awesome!! Highly recommended!!! Luis and Bindley DJ’d my wedding reception last year, and my friends STILL talk about what a great time they had!! They were very organized, well presented, and the music/light show was on point!! Almost everyone was out of their seats dancing and having a blast! Additionally, they did a great job with our wedding video and my husband tells me they worked closely to surprise me with a Mission Impossible garter skit! I loved it! I highly recommend Luis & Bindley, and I know some of my friends have already booked them for thier parties. Thank you so much guys!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

  • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
  • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
  • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
  • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

Do I need a wedding day coordinator?

Even if you’ve handled every detail of planning your wedding, you might appreciate having a day-of wedding coordinator in your corner. Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. Most wedding coordinators also handle:

  • Distributing the wedding day timeline to all of your vendors.
  • Coordinating all of your vendors, including the photographer, florist and baker.
  • Conducting the wedding rehearsal.
  • Helping the bride and her wedding party get dressed and take photos.
  • Checking floor plans, lighting levels, cake placement, menus, favors and more.
  • Collecting the wedding gifts and keeping personal items safe and accounted for.

Even if you don’t think you need a wedding coordinator, check with your venue. Some require that couples hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the day of the event.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
