I am a former staff trainer for MySQL AB, Sun and Oracle specializing in MySQL. I was the lead instructor for a number of our courses, meaning that I was responsible for creating and updating course content, working with our Curriculum Development staff. Oracle cleaned house in 2010, though, and no original MySQL trainers remain on their staff - and the rest of my former team are now working for other companies, training on other non-database products. This makes me the only active and experienced MySQL trainer in the US.
I also travel abroad regularly to teach and to speak at database conferences in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
I offer primarily on-site training and consulting and occasional public webinar classes. My training and consulting rates are affordable for even small businesses because I do not have the overhead of a large corporate training department. What I do have are experience, expertise and a commitment to excellence. You will not be disappointed with what your people learn from me. You will find many references on my LinkedIn profile (for David Swain at Polymath Business Systems).
Travel beyond my home base will incur travel expenses, which may include overnight accommodations for mutli-day classes. Please call of write for details.
I also give instruction on what I consider to be the most brilliant database application development tool available: a product called Omnis Studio. Although this is not an open source product, the full development kit for working with MySQL databases is available free of charge from the software developer, TigerLogic.
