Alexander Gurin's impressive repertoire is why I originally started my child in piano lessons with him, as I was seeking a teacher with an excellent musical foundation to provide the best instruction available. He is a wonderful music teacher who also really connects with the kids he teaches. He is incredibly patient and encouraging with younger children like my son, but also has the depth of knowledge and talent to mentor his older and more talented students to be their very best as well. Alex's range of musical abilities is truly remarkable to find in just one teacher - he has cultivated my son's interest in learning to play the violin in addition to piano and I would recommend him to anyone, both young and young at heart!
Gail is an amazing and gifted teacher! My 16 year old son has been taking drum lessons with Gail since he was 6 years old and it has been remarkable to witness his continued improvement. He joined the band in Elementary School and has continued through his High School years. More importantly, my son has maintained a passion for playing the drums which has been directly influenced by his lessons with Gail, who is observably passionate about her own connection to music. I would not hesitate to recommend her as a music teacher.
Joe provided a group drum lesson of which I was a part. He was friendly, clear in his instruction, and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for drum lessons.
Chris can teach both drums (drum kit) and various percussion instruments (tympani, tuned percussion, etc.). I am taking lessons from Chris mainly to learn basic rock drumming on a standard drum kit. He is a wonderful teacher. He'll give you valuable lessons not only on playing the drum kit, but also on good drumming fundamentals, such as proper stick grip, how to position your hands on the stick, and stick control, speed and independence. He will also instruct you in good habits and tips for practicing the drums between lessons. I very highly recommend Chris as a drum and percussion teacher.
My girl friend got me drum lessons for Xmas. She went on line and decided to go with Nick. I'm glad she did..I've only had 2 lessons so far and have enjoyed going to them..Nick has a lot of patience which is good for teaching .He also doesn't push you and let's you go at your speed which is nice... I'm 56 and I always wanted to learn how to play the drums.. I've play a lot of sports and like being challenged. This is a new challenge for me and I'm enjoying Nick, teaching me and looking forward to more lesson.., I would highly recommend Nick, for lessons..
Marco is AWESOME! I love my lessons and find him to be so great at making me relaxed and able to understand everything he's showing me and explaining to me. I've had teachers before, Marco is hands-down the best I've had. I feel so lucky to tap in to his knowledge and talents and extensive experience.
Caleb is an excellent teacher. He was very patient and broke things down sequentially so I would fully grasp the subject matter. I learned a lot from our lessons and felt confident in my devloping drum kit skills after taking lessons with him. He is also very friendly and made lessons fun! Definitely one of the best teachers I've worked with!
patient with our beginning drummer, currently teaching at our son's level (10 years old), likable and friendly instructor.
Eli is the best guitar teacher I have ever come across. Outside of his one of a kind performance style he has a teaching style that has helped me TREMENDOUSLY by catering the lessons to EXACTLY where I am "at" on the instrument. His demeanor is warm, thoughtful, and engaging. I can't recommend him enough!!!
Drum teaching. Tim has instructed my son Nate (12 years old) for almost 2 years...in that time Nate has made incredible progress......even his school band instructor comments on his improvement. Tim keeps him motivated and is willing to go out of his way to give lessons at our house when we have scheduling conflicts. I couldn't ask for a better teacher for my son.
Both my daughters took guitar lessons with Wes. Hands down he is the one of best in the area. Wes has the ability to reach anyone at any level and brings out the absolute best in them. He listens to the individual student and understands their needs and desires to help bring out their personal best. Wes is versatile and talented and we were fortunate to know Wes and be taught by such a consummate professional. He relates well to any age level and doesn't push his music repertoire/agenda onto his students but gives them the opportunity to explore their style and genre of music freely. I highly recommend this fine and talented musician and teacher!!
Tom Dest has been teaching music consecutively for 27 years to private individuals and groups. This includes lessons to beginners, intermediate and advanced students on drumset, vibraphone and marimba. Tom also teaches hand drums, music composition, music theory and recording engineering. Some places Tom where has given lessons are Trinity College, Hartford Academy of the Performing Arts, various public school percussion programs, Dynamic Percussion, Creative Music, and presently, at Varela Music. The cost for lessons is $22.00 per half hour. Why are lessons with Tom so inexpensive while most other teachers and studios are charging more but have less experience? With our present economy, most prices for every thing are on the rise. Tom simply does not want to follow suit; thats all. Thanks, Tom P.S. I do not accept any kind of pre-payment via mail or electronic transfer for lessons.
I'm a touring and recording pro for over 30 years. I've played for some of the biggest Marque names in music.
I have taught kids swim lessons before, and I am certified by Red Cross with a lifeguarding and water safety certificate, as well as CPR and First Aid training/ certificates. I have also given Piano and Voice lessons before and will be attending music school in the fall for opera studies to further broaden my studies in music. I am not just opera based, although that is the best thing for my voice. I also teach jazz, pop, and healthy musical singing! Singing should be something that is always fun, and freeing, so why not learn how to do it in the most comfortable, fun, and healthy way possible? As a teacher, I will recognize what my client would like to work on (whether it be a style of music, music history, music theory, or even basic piano lessons), while hopefully providing valid insight on how to really engage one's voice healthily. Voice lessons are very affordable (first 30 minute session free). Although I have given voice lessons at a regular rate before, I really would like the opportunity to meet new people and hopefully help them explore the amazing opportunities and fun times that go along with singing!

I offer transcription services for all styles of music and all instruments. I offer lessons on the following instruments: bass, upright bass, guitar, and piano.
I get excited when my student is able to grasp the rhythm and feel the beat. Music is a feeling.
My name is Paul Reed; I founded and finished building High End Sound Recording Studio in 2009. The main purpose of the construction project was to create a setting where high-quality sound recordings could be made, using either analog methods with a beautiful vintage 3M 2-inch, reel-to-reel 24-track tape machine, or digital technology with top-of-the-line Mac Pro computer, running both Logic Studio and Pro Tools. The final product of either process stands out because of my use of vintage analog gear, including some classic microphones by Telefunken, AKG, Beyerdynamic, Sony, etc., as well as carefully chosen outboard analog signal processors and a traditional plate reverb, complement a very comprehensive collection of software for both effects and utility applications. My experience in the field of music performance, including both pop idioms and classical orchestral music, spans 38 years of working in recording studios, Broadway show orchestra pits, jazz clubs, and on tour with various well-known rock music acts. My familiarity with music performance and my knowledge of music production techniques has given me the edge needed to turn out recordings that do justice to the potential residing in the music I am recording. My instrument is the drum kit, and that side of my expertise is available to anyone looking for instruction in the art of drumming. I have taught both novice and experienced drummers of all ages for over 20 years. Until 2007, my career was centered in NYC, where most of my teaching took place at Drummers' World over a period of several years. Since my relocation to Chatham in upstate New York, I have taught here at my studio (High End Sound Space for Percussion Studies). I currently have students mostly in their younger teens. Some of them are enrolled for intensive instruction programs, entailing lessons lasting 2 hours or more. When appropriate, I try to take some of the younger students to my performances, so they can see what working in the field is really like under realistic conditions. Occasionally, I arrange for a student to actually sit in with my band, The Paul Miller Quartet, and actually experience the full effect of being on the stage as a working drummer. Besides recording live-performed music and teaching drumming, I also offer other services at High End Sound. These include digitizing and creating copies either on CDs or as data files saved on any chosen computer format. Customers can bring me their aging tapes (reels or cassettes) and take home their music or other captured sound in any digital form they desire, including mp3, AIFF, WAV files, burned onto CD as data or audio, or stored on flash drive hard drive, or sent over the internet via a file transfer protocol or emailed mp3 files. I have also recorded voice-over work, including audio books and audio for radio/TV commercials. I've even provided internet-streamed connections for radio stations hundreds or thousands of miles away for the purpose of conducting live on air interviews with persons in this area. I would sum up my services by saying that I look to provide the highest quality work in any of the areas in which I am equipped to function -- those areas with which I have had extensive experience. I do this because I find that it is a good living and also because I love to share the gift of beautiful sound!
