I am a scientist who loves singing. I found Bulent Guneralp three years ago after moving to Boston for my PhD and searching for singing teachers online. His website detailing his experience and all the positive reviews made me consider him, and I am really happy that I did so. Mr. Guneralp is a unique teacher and human being. He is multi-talented yet very down-to-earth, he is very encouraging yet expects the best from you, constantly improves himself and his teaching methods, and is overall fun to work with. He doesn't only teach but also performs, so he knows what it is like to perform live and the expectations of stage life. I first started taking voice lessons 10 years ago, continued on and off, but did not perform in public until studying with Mr. Guneralp, who helped me overcome my stage fright and sing solo in a concert for the first time in 2016! His scientific teaching method which also uses certain visualizations helped me better understand and use my body as a vocal instrument. I believe not only my technical progress but my overall development as a singer gave me the confidence to sing for the first time in public. We have been working on arias and art songs in Italian, German, French, English and Turkish! My diction in these different languages has improved. I also learned a great deal of sight-singing, music theory and ear-training, areas in which I was not educated in the past. Recently I moved to Maryland, yet continue taking lessons from him remotely via Skype / FaceTime. I strongly recommend Mr. Guneralp to anyone, professional or amateur, interested in developing their vocal and musical skills.

I have studied with Bertrand in small classes at the Passim School of Music and privately at his studio. He is an excellent teacher who brings a high level of commitment and enthusiasm to his sessions. He uses a holistic approach covering the theoretical , technical and even the ergonomic aspects of guitar playing. I particularly enjoyed his harmony class which have given me a solid rudimentary understanding of how chord progressions are built allowing me to begin improvising. Finally, he has a grasp of many genres of popular music and is willing to work in any that interests his students. Highly recommended

I had my 1st lesson with Andy last week. I learned more about music and the guitar in that one lesson than I had in years with other teachers. He truly seems to have a gift for teaching music and I'm looking forward to working with him more.

I would highly recommend Brad as a guitar teacher. He has experience teaching students at a range of skill levels and takes time to understand a player's specific musical interests. He has a flexible approach, offering lessons over Skype and making himself available for questions in between lessons. I will keep working with Brad in the future and any other guitar players in his area should do the same.

At the age of 54 I decided to take up piano after many years of toying with the idea. I had no music bankground and didn't know a staccatto from a fortissimo. My daughter had been taking voice lessons from Lenae and when she had an opening I decided the time had come. I am thrilled that I did. I love playing piano and, although I don't have any particular talent for it, I am very pleased by how far I have come in two years. Lenae has been the perfect teacher. Lessons are relaxed and without pressure, and she moves at a pace that makes sense for me. She is ALWAYS pleasant and supportive.

What a great treasure the Drummers' Studio is for musicians in the area! Kris is extremely helpful and responsive. My new piano teacher is super supportive of an adult interested in taking up lessons after 30 years away from it. Such an all-around positive experience!

Great teacher! Very energetic, had a plan, gave specific recommendations and exercises to practice, has a lovely voice, and plays accompaniment for you. Really encouraged me and was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses for further development. I highly recommend taking a lesson with Emily.

Christie was my piano music teacher for several years. Before we met with Christie, my mom had spent several years looking for a teacher who was not only a true professional but would be able to guide a student of any age and skills. Christie's skill is unparalleled and she was able to quickly recognize my strong points as well as my weak points. I was able to study not only classical music but jazz, improvisation, as well as music theory. I still play the piano regularly in my church and Christie's lessons stay with me and help me improve to this day.

Bengisu is the vocal instructor for my son Wilson and she is helping me with music theory. The 2 hour period we spend with her every week is something my little boy, who is 7 years old, is looking forward. She knows how to set the tone with Wilson and me. Her attitude to Wilson is very playful and she makes him admire music more and more. The fact that we are working on theory and Bengisu showing me the connection between math and music theory fascinates me every time. She prepares little cue cards for me and she always sends the recording of each class with Wilson. She also sends some exercises for Wilson as video so he can watch and learn.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Jacob is your guy. What you look for in a teacher is someone who ENJOYS teaching you, is patient, and allows you to enjoy what you're doing. You can tell Jacob cares about what he does and he cares about teaching someone the guitar. In a short period, I've learned a ton from him and he's even gone out of his way to send videos of stuff I've needed to practice. If you're looking for an instructor, Jacob is the man for the job!

I'm a very busy technology professional. After many years of playing and studying on my own since college, I decided to look for teacher again. I met Ben through Thumbtack and started studying with him about a year ago. I can easily say that Ben is by far the best music teacher that I've ever had. With Ben, I study classical, jazz, composition, theory, technique and performance - all integrated into a single holistic, experience-based learning approach. Besides being a master, Ben is amazingly motivating and supportive - he puts my creative experience at the center of all we do. I've progressed in so many ways, none of which I would have expected a year ago. I've met several other of Ben's students - from children and adult beginners to highly trained professional musicians. They all say very similar things. I highly recommend studying with Ben.

Johnny is an excellent cello teacher and a phenomenally skilled cellist! He is very thoughtful and pays close attention to the student's technique for both fingering and bowing. Johnny gives great anecdotes and analogies to illustrate how to think about playing a certain song or bow strokes for a certain section, for example. He is fun and patient and readily adapts to what the student needs. I highly recommend Johnny as a cello teacher, for cello students of all levels!

Upon meeting Ben, I was very impressed by his professional attitude and his engaging approach to our first lesson. He had us begin by playing a 4 on the 4 floor groove, and payed close attention to my hands and technique so he could assess where I was, and where I wanted to/could be. He wasted no time in giving me helpful tips to improve my left arm. He also wrote out exercises for me, and reading is imperative for me as a personal goal, so it was perfect. I'm very thankful that I went with Ben over the other two teachers who quoted me. I'm excited for our next lesson!
