In the past I have tried all types of methods but nothing has been more beneficial than working out with a personal trainer. MJ has shown me the way to push through my physical limitations and find the confidence to train at a whole new explosive level. I couldn't be more excited with the results thus far. Having others notice the hard work I've put in is a pretty great feeling. I highly recommend training with MJ.

Your search for a personal trainer is done. I found Doug through Thumbtack last spring which was my first experience using this site. I have worked with personal trainers in the past but none as knowledgeable, thorough, friendly, and versatile as Doug. I injured my knee over a year ago and he was able to work within my abilities to strengthen my knee as well as build up my conditioning overall so making my physical life better than it has been in a while. I am not done yet...I am trying to maintain for a while on my own but will be back to work with Doug again.
Great trainer - just right for me. Down-to-earth and practical. Encouraging without being patronizing, challenging without triggering my elementary-school gym-teacher flashbacks. I would recommend Derek to anyone looking for help getting and staying on track.
Nick Valente is an excellent personal trainer who has been dedicated to helping me accomplish my fitness goals. In the past year, working with Nick, I have lost 35 lbs and have increased my overall strength, endurance and lean muscle mass. He has also taught me a lot about proper exercise form and nutrition. He is committed to helping me strive for health and wellness and has been a great encouragement every step of the way.
At the time of this review I have been to see Melanie 6 times over the past month. When I decided to hire a personal trainer I was apprehensive, terrified and not really sure I even wanted to do it. I hate exercising. Let me repeat that. I HATE EXERCISING. Melanie immediately calmed all of my fears and corrected my preconceived "Hollywood" notions about personal trainers. She is very focused on helping me attain my goals in a way that is best for me. Even though she explains to me the "why" of each exercise she has me do, (which helps me stay focused on the correct form which I LOVE) the best thing Melanie does for me is keep me motivated. She is so very friendly and supportive. She makes me want to succeed even if it is just to see her get excited for me. I just know, no matter how defeated I feel once Melanie is smiling for me I will be to get though whatever it is she is asking me to do. She is the perfect personal cheerleader. Her excitement is infectious and she is the reason that after just a month I am starting to work out at home under my own motivation since she keeps me accountable, because I send her a text message when I have done stuff on my own, which keeps me going. Then we get to smile and be excited together. No matter what is going on around me or how many people are not eating right, exercising at all or are sensitive to my desire to change my lifestyle, I have Melanie in my camp so I am not alone anymore. I am very glad that I found her.

I have worked with Steve for nearly eighteen years because he makes strength training fun, totally focuses on me to make sure that I am doing the movements correctly (so that I won't inadvertently injury myself), and easily adapts an exercise on the fly if I'm sore from having twisted the wrong way while lifting something too heavy at home. His is not a "cookie cutter" approach because he personalizes every workout session for each client and their specific needs. He recognized long ago that the needs and abilities of older clients are different from younger clients. To meet the needs of his older clients, he created LROM (limited range of motion) for strength training. I worked with other trainers but chose to work with Steve because he is worth the money. Frank Ricardo (Option Fitness) has been my personal trainer for 7 years. I had 3 trainers before but after training with Frank for a few sessions I decided to stick with him only on a long term schedule. The reasons for that were several. First, I think Frank pays attention to and understands my body and its needs. Second, based on that he developed a detailed program to get the most out of me. Third, he stays with me to make sure I stick with the program during a training session but also on the homework he gives me. Fourth, he prepares me before a session so that I am ready for the most demanded exercises. Fifth, he pays attention to any factors that affect my physical ciondition by asking me questions regarding my physical and mental condition before he decides what exercises to do (i.e he checks if I have the right amount of energy, nutrition, rest, injury, etc..). Sixth, he follows up by calling me the next day after training to see how I feel. Seventh, he constantly challenges me to reach higher levels. Eighth, we connect mentaly in an excellent way. Nineth, he is very prompt and ahead of me on our appointments and he is prepared by the time I get to the gym. Tenth, he is a great motivator. As a result at the age of 56 not only I am in much better shape than I was 8 years ago, but I feel that I am comparable to guys 20 years younger than me. Because of that I am able to play very compettitive soccer in a Division with 30 year old playes. In fact I am the oldest and only player over 50 who plays in the age 30 Division.
