The crew that came to clean my home was efficient and thorough. They did a GREAT job. The best part was probably that my house didn't reek of bleach when they were done, instead, the house smelled fresh and floral. I forgot to put out sheets, but when dusting the doorways, the ladies found my linen closet and called me upstairs to select the sheets I wanted on the bed. I will definitely be using them again. The value is AMAZING!!

Rob seems to be a jack of all trades who understands how things work and will perform small jobs. He installed adjustable shelving in my pantry and a bedroom closet. There were metal strips with brackets and the laminated shelving had to be custom cut. The pantry was tricky because there was an immoveable bracing board in the back, so each shelf had to have a notch cut into it to fit against the wall. The finished product is exactly what I wanted. The shelves are perfectly level in both the pantry and the closet. He worked very neatly and paid a lot of attention to measuring and cutting. I also hired him to assemble a large desk which I ordered from a catalog. It has five file drawers and a slide-out keyboard holder. He unpacked the boxes and assembled the desk perfectly. He was very careful to ensure that the cherry finish didn’t get scratched during assembly. I have also seen some of his other work. He builds cornhole boards and finishes them with custom colors and logos. He creates original signs for basement bars and game rooms using fine hardwoods, hand carving, and a router. He seems to have a real talent for fine woodworking.

It was my first time using thumbtack. Needed someone to help make the pax wardrobe at my moms place. I reviewed a lot of quotes and I didn’t end up going with the person with the most reviews. Tim had the 2nd most reviews, background check, called me directly to see if I was still looking, and even offered to help with throwing the boxes away after the assembly. I had pax closets assembled for my mom. I assisted Tim with little things here and there... he was so friendly and easy to talk to... mom even made us dinner ( kimchi fried rice!). It took a little longer than expected but these were 92 inch high wardrobes and I had 3 of them. The doors were all aligned. Nothing broke. Everything turned out great. If Tim is around when mom moves I would def ask him to come back to disassemble them. Such a pleasure to work with! Hard working man!

Cristian was great. Assembled furniture, installed closet shelving, did some nice wallpapering too. He worked quickly. He was also very honest about his skills, advising that i should use a different expert for some other tasks I had to do bc he thought someone else could do a better job for me. Would hire again!

We are so thrilled with the result of Zandra's work. She was punctual, honest, hard-working, creative, and OCD (in the best way!). Over three days, Zandra recreated our home (1400+ sf condo and two storage lockers) and organized everything in such a sensible manner. Part of the time we were present, but when we weren't, we would come back to space that simply made sense in terms of how she organized each room / closet / etc. She also helped us rid our closets and storage of items we wanted to donate and sent us back the Goodwill receipt within a week. We have recommended Zandra to our friends and look forward to working with her again in the future. It was an absolute pleasure, and she is actually a better person than her immaculate work :)

I just needed some help to remove dead trees, shrubbery, and leaves from my yard. Not only did Adrian help with the labor part, but he also provided some great ideas to help us clear the yard more efficiently. He said they also do cleaning and organizing and I plan on hiring them to help organize and clean my basement.

Amazing job l!!! Jaime and her team were so together and went above and beyond my expectations with unpacking my boxes of many many many things from my recent move to my new house. It was the organizing and all of the the thought put into the organization that impressed me and they really hit it out of the park. Closets organized better than I could have imagined. Impressive. I most certainly will be asking for her help in the future with organizing around the house.

Robert was fantastic, I highly recommend his services. He works hard to get the job done, and the final product is always perfect. He completes complicated jobs in a very short time, and his pricing is excellent. He is professional and punctual. He successfully assembled a queen bed and a crib, installed closet doors, shifted furniture, installed a door handle and drawer knobs, and cleverly solved a problem I was having with a defective box spring, among other jobs. I would definitely hire him again and highly recommend his services.

James and his team were fantastic! We hired them for a closet demo and wall demo. Ahead of the work, I appreciated how professional they were with the walk through and contract. During the course of the job his team was prompt, efficient, and made sure everything was cleaned up afterwards. The quality of work itself was great- they did a super job. I look forward to working with James again on future projects!

When I was overwhelmed with work, Carmen scrubbed away months' worth of grime, leaving my studio apartment smelling great, free of dust and organized. My bathroom is sparkling! I love a tidy home, and the deep clean she gave my place saved me a lot of stress and anxiety about the mess. I'm absolutely becoming a regular client.

Rachael altered a dress that had been hanging in my closet unworn, for about a year. Had I known that I could have had a well-fitting dress for a great price, I would have had the work done a lot sooner. I highly recommend Rachael and I look forward to continuing to work with her.

My experience with Mike was awesome from my initial email to the minute he completed the work. It is difficult to find a contractor who is honest, knowledgeable, fair, professional, and friendly. Mike is the total package and no job is too big or too small for him. My closet shelving and hanging rods fell to the floor one morning. One company said it fell because it was cheap shelving and quickly provided a $745 solution. Mike saw that it wasn't the shelving but that it was installed incorrectly. He was able to reuse the shelving and recommended a way to increase use of space in the closet. He ended up improving both closets in that room, and 3 other small projects I had been unable to address; and the price was right! Mike is now my "go to" contractor for all projects in my home. I trust him, his knowledge and his work!

Kay was truly helpful organizing my kitchen. She helped me sort out through all kitchen items and let go of the things that either I did not need any longer, or was not working or had duplicates. She then helped me box those items for donation or disposal and organized the remaining in the kitchen cabinets and drawers. Kay organized my entire kitchen in one session in about four hours. I was really impressed. I am also impressed with the KonMari organization method as everything is sorted and stored by category which has helped me easily locate whatever I am looking for. For the first time ever I feel in control of my kitchen.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I find a personal stylist?

To find a fashion consultant, start by browsing portfolios online. Styling is a visual art, so finding a fashion consultant who fits the style you desire is key. Great personal stylists aren’t confined to one style, but if you’re seeking a hipper, fashion-forward vibe, you’d do well to find someone with a modern portfolio, while a fashion consultant with a consistently refined style could be a better fit if you’d prefer a more conservative look. Reading reviews is also helpful for learning more about the fashion consultant. Research their training, background and years of experience. After reviewing websites and Instagram accounts, meet with the stylist in person to learn how well they fit your personality; some fashion consultants offer a free phone consultation prior to hiring. Before hiring, make sure you clearly understand their terms of service and payment.

What do image consultants do?

Image consultants help people look and feel their best by coaching them on their clothing and beauty choices. An image consultant can be hired for a one-time occasion, such as an awards ceremony, big birthday party or photo shoot. The consultant will recommend clothing, hair and makeup to suit the occasion either using either what the client owns or taking a targeted shopping trip. For a complete fashion consultation, the image consultant will assess your wardrobe, your lifestyle, and what you hope to present to the world, and will then determine the best colors, styles and cuts for you. You can get help streamlining your professional appearance, adjusting your style after a change in body size, solidifying a new look, or finding clothing to fit one area of your life like work or weekends. Image consultants also provide closet edits, going through your clothing and paring out what isn’t right for the look you’re trying to achieve. Personal shopping is another service that image consultants provide. After an image assessment, they can either shop with you or shop on your behalf to find you key pieces you need.

What is a fashion consultant?

A fashion consultant is a paid professional who will advise you on what to wear and how to wear it to fit your desired lifestyle or career goals. A fashion consultant can provide many services including personal shopping, closet audits, beauty consultations, style consultations and ongoing seasonal services. A fashion consultant often has a design or fashion background (although this is not required) and an innate sense of style. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with the colors, cuts and designs we think suit us. A fashion consultant comes in with fresh eyes and provides constructive feedback to guide your style choices.

During your initial meeting, your fashion consultant will take stock of your current clothing selection and learn what you hope to achieve. They’ll identify core wardrobe pieces you need, as well as advise you how to wear items together. Many consultants create style lookbooks for their clients explaining things like exactly which shoes to wear with what pants and how to accessorize each look. Fashion consultants are a great option for people who are updating their style due to age, career changes or body changes, or who are just ready for a new look and feel. Most fashion consultants charge by the hour, with some offering packages and others working from a retainer.

What is a personal shopper?

Personal shoppers take the pain out of having good fashion. Personal shoppers are paid professionals who work with women, men or children who need style assistance. If you are stuck in a fashion rut, are unsure how to dress in a way that flatters your body, need to revamp your image, or want a more professional career look, personal shoppers can help. Personal shoppers identify the look their client wants to achieve and purchase the necessary clothing and accessories to achieve it. The process often begins with an initial consultation with the client to understand their style goals. This consultation may include a closet “audit,” an assessment of the client’s current wardrobe to see what items can be eliminated and what must be purchased to achieve the desired style.

The client and the personal shopper can shop together, selecting items as a team. The personal shopper may also shop on behalf of the client, then bring all items to the client for a final decision. A third option is pre-shopping, where the personal shopper reaches the store(s) ahead of the client and sets aside clothing for the client to try on, expediting the whole process — a win for anyone who hates spending time in the mall. Personal shoppers can also be hired for one-time events such as weddings, vacations or birthdays. You can also enlist a personal shopper to do your gift shopping for you. Overall, a personal shopper is an investment in making good style choices.
