Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I'm a very hands-on teacher who caters my students' lessons to their goals and personality. I'm not afraid to adapt my teaching style, and I promise you personal, individualized lessons from a teacher who is attentive and knowledgeable. The most rewarding part of teaching is seeing my students gain enjoyment from the progress they make. I love being there when my students have an "Ah-ha" moment. I can see that we're "finding their voice," in a manner of speaking. It's an amazing experience to share with them.

Belinda always has a new technique or trick to improve my singing. She is highly perceptive and constantly gives me feedback so I know how to succeed. Belinda is able to provide imagery as well as kinesthetic feedback to ensure I understand how to correct myself.

Belinda is an incredible teacher. She knows how to meet you were you're at and bring you to your full potential. She is tons of fun and also very well versed in her craft. You will not be disappointed if you choose her as your instructor.

I am taking voice lessons with Belinda. I am 56 years old and have recently joined a Sweet Adeline singing group (barbershop style.) I love to sing but had no knowledge of proper technique and found I was getting hoarse. Belinda is helping me tremendously. She is extremely talented and versatile and is a wonderful teacher. I do this for fun, and Belinda respects my goals and works with me toward what I want to accomplish. But she is an accomplished opera singer and would be just as capable working with someone with more professional aspirations.

Belinda is a kind and understanding teacher, and an awesome person in general! She gives you the tools you need to find and develop your voice, though it will take a lot of searching and practice on your own. Her guidance has helped me take my singing to a level I had never thought possible.

Belinda offers great pragmatic knowledge in studying voice. Before I studied with Belinda, I didn't know much technique or work ethic outside of choirs. I studied classical voice for many years, but my professors and teachers didn't satisfy my needs as a non-operatically trained student. With Belinda's hands-on teaching style, I was able to find sensible ways to improve my voice in different classical vocal music: opera and art song. One time, she even made me do a little bit of yoga.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Like with any other professional, I am still practicing, taking lessons, coaching, reading up on articles in the field, and performing! I began my vocal studies at a young age, growing up with pop music and karaoke and singing with San Marino's award-winning Chamber Choir. My extensive vocal education includes training with the Intimate Opera Company, Songfest Young Artist Program, Barcelona Festival of Song, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, The Amalfi Coast Music Festival and Institute, OperaWorks, and Music Theater Bavaria. A recent Peabody Conservatory graduate, I studied under world-renowned 20th century vocal repertoire interpreter, Phyllis Bryn-Julson. Prior to my studies at the Peabody Institute, I attended the University of California, Irvine, studying voice under the tutelage of Dr. Darryl Taylor. During my undergraduate work, I received numerous honors and recognitions including The Bette and Steven Warner Scholarship, The Ann & Gordon Getty Foundation Music Scholarship, Artsbridge Scholarship, and UROP and SURP fellowships. As an advocate for arts education, I worked with the Creative Connections outreach program at the Claire Trevor School of Arts, bringing music curricula to underfunded K-8 classrooms. Additionally, I was a founding member and leader of Clair de Lune A Cappella, an all treble-voice performing group at UCI. From karaoke to a cappella, from choral to opera, my well-rounded background makes me an ideal teacher for any singer!

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Easy- I love singing, and I love sharing that with other people, whether it's as a performer or as a teacher!

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Anyone can sing! Our goals will be different if we're singing as a hobby or as a professional pursuit, but I will help you to the best of my ability and I will push you to work to your potential. And likewise what you put into these lessons and your practicing is what you will get out of it. I've taught complete beginners to those embarking on a singing career, and no matter what, we will always be learning, progressing, and having fun.
