I have used many carpet cleaners over the years. That all changed when I began using EBRR Property maintenance Services. Ed Bilo and his staff are attentive, friendly, and most important, effective in all the ways. I am happy that I hired you for this job. I would never hesitate to refer them to someone in need of any property maintenance services.

FANTASTIC! WOULD USE AGAIN AND AGAIN. (#&$)#! Bekins is the worst. My Bekins A-1 movers, 1511 Farm Creek Dr, VA 703-491-1512 were absolute merd! I was told they couldn't get my couch to the 2nd floor due to it being too large. I called Charlies and they were to move it up and over the 2nd floor balcony. They immediate got it up the stairs with only two of them and no scratches! Very professional. I wish I used them instead of Bekins!!!!!

My job consisted of the cleaning of a microsuede sectional, our family room carpet, the carpet runner on our stairs to the second floor, and the second floor landing. The company was responsive and provide quotes that were consistent with the final price. The prices are great and the job was completed efficiently. It was easy to schedule the service and they do provide a two hour window (the technician came at the end of the window). I'm taking away one star because they did not remove all of the stairs from my couch and carpets.

Our aging cats ruined the carpet in the family room with vomit, urine, and fecies. Although I cleaned it daily, the smell permeated the entire house. When the last cat died, I wanted help making that room really clean again. Mr. Davis and two employees moved the furniture to the deck on a sunny fsll day. They impressed us by covering it with plastic so no passing bird would bomb it. They removed the carpet, pad, and soaked tack strips. They scraped the concrete clean. Mr. Davis inspected the concrete floor for cracks and patched the only one at no extra charge. They fogged the floor and walls with a special cleaning mix developed to break down and neutralize the materials causing the odors. Then they painted on a sealer around the baseboard and entire floor. They came back after 30 minutes and appied a second coat. They fogged the ductwork for the house with the cleaning and neutralizing solution, because the smell had spread through the whole house. They also made sure our h-vac filter was clean. Finally, they moved each piece of furniture in one by one and fogged each one. This doesn't make the furniture wet. The quote and final bill was $1,150 and there is absolutely no trace of cat smell. The last thing I wanted was to replace the carpet and still have that smell. I am very happy. We feel like we have a whole new room for the house. The best thing about this experience was that the owner was present for the work. I had some additional work done to clean up a few spots of mold in the garage a few days later. The owner did not come then, but he sent his second in command. He also was very reassuring. All the employees were very nice and personable.

Responded to me quickly and was able to schedule an appointment within an hour. Bryan was early, and did a great job cleaning my couch. He even offered to check back with me in a day or two, and come back if I wasn’t satisfied. I would definitely recommend this company.

This Pro is very professional and showed up earlier than he originally told me. Which was great. He would have got a five, but a few things had my wife and I feeling that the service was not a 5 star. He does not move any furniture out of the way. So be ready and have your furniture out of the way ahead of time. Other offers I got the cleaners said they would move furniture to clean the entire room. Due to timing of this project and the fact that he was already at my house we let him do the work anyway. Otherwise I would have cancelled. Besides that the areas he cleaned looks great. Carpets are taking a lot longer to dry than what was estimated. Basement level is still very wet. Was expecting the carpet to be much dryer since he uses a truck vacuum. We Hired him and paid extra compared to other pros based on the truck. But don’t see the extra value in it. Beside that he did a great job. I also could have asked more questions before time.

They did a great job fixing my sub floors! No complaints about the quality at all. The gentleman even broomed and vacuumed when he was done. He did have to saw the plywood to take it apart and out of the house. I asked if I should cover my furniture and couch with a sheet to avoid cleaning up sawdust and he said no it's ok. But unfortunately saw dust did get on all that so I did clean up when he left. Maybe he didn't understand my question not sure. But definitely worth the quality and super nice and pleasant people and I will definitely use them again in the future!

I tried to write a review last week about the wonderful experience I had with MJ Home Services but by mistake I clicked the post review button before I had a chance to write my review. Therefore this review is in addition to the other review dated 12-22-12 from Mark S. I used MJ Home Services to treat mold in my attic, clean my ventilation system and carpets throughout my entire house, fix a leaking toilet, and to repair some drywall in my living room that was damaged by water in several places (due to the toilet on the floor above it apparently slowing leaking over a perioid of years). Due to my busy work schedule, John and Wayne (workman who came to my house) were extremely accommodating and flexible by performing the above services on a Saturday, a Sunday, and on a Wednesday night. All of the above services were performed with superior workmanship and at very reasonable prices. I know this because I had 2 other estimates before I selected MJ Home Services to perform the work. John was extremely knowledgeable about all of the above services performed. In addition, both John and Wayne were very neat, professional and courteous when performing all the work. In summary, if you want superior workmanshipcombined with very reasonable prices you owe it to yourself to use mJ Home Services for any water damage, mold, ventilation system or carpet cleaning services.

Nathien was exceptional. He was very responsive, available quickly, and did a lovely job cleaning our sofa, three chairs, and ottoman. I was a little worried to have them cleaned because they are all light-colored, but Nathien made them look brand-new (and they smell great too!). He showed up when he said he would, and he worked very hard and left zero mess. I'll be using him again in the future and recommend him without hesitation!

Did excellent work, and was on time and extremely professional. He cleaned our couch, and it went from being disgusting to looking like new. If you need anything carpets, upholstery, etc. cleaned, hire Kenny, you will be very happy with what you get. He was also more than half the price of many big name cleaners.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.

How much does upholstery cleaning cost?

The cost to have your upholstered furniture cleaned depends mostly on two factors: the size of the furniture and the type of fabric. The national average cost of upholstery cleaning ranges from $120 to $150. Most people have multiple pieces cleaned at once, but sofa cleaners will come to your home for just one heavily soiled couch or to spot-treat stains. The smaller the furniture, the lower the cost: A lounge chair may cost an average of $50 to clean, while a couch costs an average of $135 and an L-shaped sectional costs an average of $190. Delicate materials such as antique fabrics or suede upholstery are more expensive to clean than sturdier ones. Having the sofa cleaner do repairs will also add to the cost. Repairs such as mending a tear in fabric or patching a hole in leather may be charged by the task or by the hour; in general, repairs cost an average of $15 each. Special or delicate fabrics may cost additional fees, too.
