This is an absolutely fantastic company. I was super nervous about leaving my puppy to be walked by a stranger but I have been so incredibly pleased with Waggy walkys. I've had two different walkers and both have been so trustworthy, kind, and reliable. I don't ever worry about my baby I know she's well taken care of and loved when I'm not home. On top of that their customer service is great. So so glad that I decided to do this!!! They are awesome here!

It's my first time using the pet-sitting service from a third party website (10 days, 1 ragdoll kitty) and was very happy with Donna's service - Donna is very responsible and caring, she fed and played with the kitty, scooped the litter box during every visit, and sent photos of the kitty from the visits, recommended for anyone looking for pet sitting service!!

After I contacted Barking Trails, I got a response back right away. The owner, Adam and the woman that was going to be walking my puppy came to my house at my convenience. We went over all the instructions and training techniques we've been working on. They have also been really flexible with our changing schedules. Great company.

Jenny is so professional, and her love for animals is obvious!! She came over on short notice, was punctual and caring with my 3 little rescue dogs. She will be house/pet sitting for us for a weekend as well as when we are away on our 10 day vacation. We are so glad that we have found her!!! For us and for the canine members of the family, it is peace of mind knowing that they are in such capable and loving hands!!

Crissi has been taking care of my cats (and watching my house!) whenever I go away for many years now. With her knowledge, overall capability and degree of integrity, I am able to relax and enjoy my vacation, knowing all will be taken care of. I rely completely on Crissi for pet sitting and can recommend her without hesitation.

We absolutely adore Christine's Pets, and don't know what we would do without them! They are always a pleasure to work with and have been extremely accommodating of our older dog's needs. We believe they perform an outstanding and personalized service and our pup adores them- and by the way, he's a great judge of character! I highly recommend Christine's Pets for all of your dog walking/pet sitting needs.

Jody was (and still is) a tremendous help! She came prepared with lots of great ideas and information, all of which were extremely helpful. I especially appreciated her advice on making mealtime a fun and educational experience. He has really taken to the games/toys to get his food, rather than gulping it down in 5 seconds. With her guidance, we have registered our puppy for his first kindergarten class. He is off to a great start! We are taking advantage of Jody's new service, in-home puppy sitting. We had hoped to take a vacation this summer, but with a new puppy it did not seem possible. Jody has a great service in which she will stay with your little one, in your home, and continue to work with them. No need for boarding! I am happy to recommend Jody to anyone looking for a wonderful trainer, who obviously loves puppies. I have already given her information to two friends with new puppies.

We used Petstigious Pets for cat-sitting, and plan to continue to do so well into the future. Shatiya is a clearly an animal lover as well as professional, organized, reliable, and communicative. She arranged a pre-meeting to get to know us, our cat, our house, and our routine. While we were on vacation, she cleaned the litter, put out food and water, played with her, and picked up our mail and packages. After each visit she sent full reports and pictures. She is by far the best cat sitter we've had yet.

How do we love Melina? Let us count the ways! I don't often write long reviews like this, but she is worth it and we think every family with pets should have someone like Melina. First of all - we want the world to know about her! She truly cares about our pets, booking her is super convenient, and her service goes beyond pet care. She looks out for our house and plants, loads the sheets in the washer when she leaves, and manages the trash bins if we're away on trash pick-up days. The last time she was here, she took the kitchen trash out for us. We have a dog door and fenced yard, and she even picked up after the dogs the last time she was here (totally not a requirement for us!). She doesn't complain if our cat has an accident, and she's never charged us more for the little extras. We have 2 large dogs and a cat, and she always asks questions if she notices something is amiss. My husband and I tend to be last minute planners (we do the best we can, and I don't recommend it!), but have never once had an issue booking Melina when we're in a bind - that's because even when she's got a full schedule, she does what she can to work around her other commitments to fit us in. We've actually only met her in person one time for the initial meeting a couple of years ago. She makes it super easy, by being extremely responsive and using common and current technology - text message, email, Thumbtack, spreadsheets, and Venmo. She doesn't mind when I send long email updates or send a spreadsheet if we need to coordinate due to one or two-week long trips. She always sends an update and photos of the pets every time she arrives and leaves. Finally, she didn't originally have a frequency discount, but when we asked about it, she created one for us. Melina is a rockstar and comes highly recommended from a grateful pet family! Thank you so much, Melina!

Llunaly M. provided me excellent pet and human care for my Lab Mix Tango and generously helped me while I recovering from hand surgery. My dog was only a puppy and I was in a full arm cast for months. Tango took to her calm demeanor and happily awaited her arrival for their daily walks. She also would ask if I needed groceries or help with getting my mail. She loves animals and any pet parent would be well suited selecting Llunaly as their pet care provider. I can't recommend her enough! Rest assured, she is the best!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
