Brian has been a great teacher and I look forward to continuing my lessons. I am a 34 year old beginner with some music experience in my past. Brian has taken what I know and used it as building blocks in my lessons. I really like that he incorporates music theory in the lesson because it helps me understand the why behind the cords and notes. Brian is a great choice for any adults looking to pick up a guitar.

Even though I have only been with Owen for about a month he is a great person and always brings a smile to each lesson. He is friendly with everyone and is easy to get to know him. He is the second guitar teacher I have had since I have been in the STRIVE U college program and I like him better then the other guitar teacher I found online last summer. Owen has been teaching me how to write songs and play more on my guitar, We have been just doing chords and no lyrics yet but can already see some change in the song writing skills. We just started learning down with the sickness on guitar a couple weeks ago. I like doing song writing one half and playing guitar the other half. I would love to learn how to play more songs on my guitar and learn harder chords slowly as it is hard for my fingers to stretch on the guitar on certain chords and I would like to be challenged a bit and have my hands be challenged as well. being in this music program for lessons is a lot of fun and I am glad I tried it out.

From the moment I met Bethany, I knew it was a match made in heaven. I had never sung for anyone outside my immediate family and friends, so I was very nervous. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed and before I knew it, I was knee deep in my first voice lesson and loving it. I had so much fun and learned a lot that I didn't know in just one half-hour lesson. I look forward to many more voice lessons with Bethany and signed up for the next month already. She has great communication, honesty and a wonderful spirit. So happy I chose to take lessons with her!

I hired Dominic Sbrega to teach my son how to play upright bass. I am a very thorough researcher, so I called conductors of local orchestras and bands to try to find the best teacher for my son. I was surprised that Dom’s name came up so frequently, given that he was still in high school. However, even at his young age, he had a great local and national reputation. As a result, I decided to give Dom a chance. Though my son was studying classical music, he was also interested in jazz. Dom was adept at teaching both. Dom was extremely patient and always very clear in his instructions. Dom’s lessons managed to be both demanding yet fun. My son adored him, enjoying every second of his lessons. I could not imagine a better bass teacher.

Jacqui has worked with my daughters for a few years. They have grown tremendously during this time and they wouldn't trade their weekly visit with her for anything. Jacqui makes the learning fun.

My son developed an interest in Flamenco guitar from his time in lessons with Greg when he was eleven. Although he was a beginner, Greg broke down songs into small sections that my son learned and then was able to string together. A year and a half later and my son is now able to play many beautiful Flamenco songs. He loves playing guitar and is becoming a more and more skilled player. Greg is excellent at relating to my son and getting him interested in the details of playing Flamenco. My son looks forward to his lessons and I can hear him frequently laughing with Greg as he learns. I feel very fortunate we found Greg as his teacher.

I had played guitar many years ago, but was self-taught and never made the progress I had hoped to make. Deciding to start playing again, I found David nearby my residence, who was very accommodating about lesson time and location. My first lesson with David convinced me that he was very knowledgeable and able to adapt to whatever skill level and style of playing I had. My tastes span rock to jazz, and David is versatile in the entire spectrum. Further, he is very personable and was a pleasure to interact with. I highly recommend David for anyone seeking instruction at any level.

About

I am a professional gigging piano player in the Portland ME area. Beyond playing jazz gigs and weddings, I am also a keyboard player in an up and coming rock and roll band called Theodore Treehouse. My strengths for teaching are in improvisation and theory. I will teach many angles of approach to improve including the jazz tradition and modern classical. I will primarily focus on the interests of the student and helping the student find their musical voice through technical and theoretical training on their instrument. I can teach beginner classical piano, beginner to advanced jazz piano or general theory and improvisation. If you wish to open up the level of communication between what you hear in your head and what you play on your instrument, then I will have many tools and skills for you to learn and practice. I would prefer to negotiate the price to find one which works for both the student and myself.
